^At a guess. I would say the kind of porn Lansky is known for which is referred to as artcore. If I'm correct then the simple answer is not for a very long time. You have plenty of sources for gonzo porn and some industrious people found a niche that was badly under-represented and are making money filling that niche.
Very happy with the artful inundation . They could include more soft acts like foot- and pussy-licking , elaborate foreplay , butt-cheek choreography and mini-plots though . Edited by - airtight_fanatic on 11/13/2018 1:21:40 PM
If Lansky stuff is "artsy porn" to you, then I'm going to guess that you mean porn with some kind of structured plot early-on, with a pacing that leads into the seuxal performance. You don't like having to fast forward through that. Plus, the positions go on for too long, and the overall scene is too long. Is that what you mean?
^You'll have to name the gonzo studios that have gone down the artcore route because as far as I know past gonzo studios have either died off or are still doing gonzo only porn. Here is a quick list in no particular order of still active gonzo only sites: 3rd degree, Bang Bros, Dogfart, Elegant Angel, Evil Angel, Jules Jordan, Kink, DDF Network, 21Sextury, Legal Porno, PervCity, HardX, LesbianX, DarkX and I could go on. In the middle you have Brazzer, Naughty America, New Sensation, Reality Kings, Wicked Picture and a few others that aren't pure gonzo but aren't really doing artocre porn. On the artcore side you have: X-Art, Tushy, Vixen, Blacked, Blacked Raw, most lesbian sites and a few other artcore sites. The way I look at it. Most artcore style scene is basically a lighter version of gonzo because while most of them have some kind of scenario. It is usually such a small scenario that last barely more than 2 to 5 minutes that you can skip the first five minutes of any artcore scene and it won't make a difference to the enjoyment of the scene.
Why must it end? Do you focus on one or two trees but fail to realize there's a big-ass forest out there? I don't even think it's that pervasive as there are directors and studios who haven't bought into the genre. Edited by - AngryPirate on 11/16/2018 1:51:30 PM
Well, I don't know what he's talking about because all I see is females getting slap around, guys choking females during sex, guys pinching females nose so she can't breath during blowjobs and of course you gotta have it in porn videos, guys slapping females on the ass. It's too the point to where I'm about to say adios to porn. When I think artsy porn, I think Lansky which with all due respect - looks too much like something I would see on Cinemax in the dead of night. That being said, I started out as a major gonzo fan until it became too mechanical, too repetitive. It doesn't have to be one extreme or the other but I do need my porn to have some kind of psychological hook for me to really get lost and aroused by it. It could be something as simple as a reluctant person being seduced and remaining reluctant until orgasm overtakes them or one of those delightful scenes where someone is getting someone else going and they have to be quiet because there's a third person there sleeping. That is my new addiction.
They are all the same, one way or another. They are not gonzo. In my book gonzo is original pre-2010 Rocco movies, early EA, JJ, Jay Sin, Sineplex (do not mix with legalporno), etc. Hope it's clear enough.
They visually "slap" and "abuse" yet it is more censored than ever. For example, slapping and choking is staged, filmed and edited in a way we only see what we are allowed to see.
There's more smut and sleaze in a random webcam show or a homemade flick these days. On the other hand, mainstream porn is staged, and fake to the point it doesn't arouse anymore. And I remember someone said back n the day that porn must be sexually arousing. Edited by - lsnoop on 11/17/2018 5:28:04 AM
In the next edition of the Oxford English or Merriam-Webster, I'd imagine that quote would be the definition of solipsism. I buy the content from numerous websites and individuals because it arouses me and the websites continue to run because they having paying subscribers so I think it's fair to say there is plenty of mainstream porn that arouses people, you know, those people who exist outside of the bubble you seem to consider to be the universe.

When I think of a revolution or an era, I think of a set of standards or qualities that have become popular or essential for people in a particular industry to be successful. I don't like artcore pornography but I don't knock it for those who do, I just don't see it as a revolution. There aren't a huge stable of directors racing to emulate artcore style from Mason to Dana Vespoli to Jacky St James among others. When the current, reigning queen of the industry Miss Angela White looked for a someone to help her create an erotic masterpiece that would linger for years in impact, she didn't go to the master of artcore - she sought out John Stagliano, the quintessential ruler pioneer of porn for what nearly 30 years and raised the bar by bringing in Rocco, reclusive all but retired Joey Silvera. How many people can you say in the current generation of up and comers have had the honor of the Rocco/Stagliano experience? Probably almost none so artcore porn is here to stay but let's not go inflate it by calling it a revolution or an era.

So I recently gave PureTaboo a real close look and for all the accolades, it seems to have an identity crisis between wanting to be artsy porn with a touch of psychological thrown in with gonzo about halfway through. I prefer material that doesn't try to wear too many hats and it fails to create that highly illicit feeling that you get from say watching one of those Japanese groping videos. The difference is that one involves less conversation yet because of the environment, because of the setup and human reactions that go from outrage to arousal; it works so much better than trying to create that in a petri dish on a set. And the absence of foreplay, that sets an erotic pace also for me kind of takes me out of the scene. I end up thinking of doing the laundry or of a dozen other things I could be doing. I don't hold that against the writers/directors though but in my book, while GW hits the illicit mark in some of their scenes - GFF is still the reigning king of creating that smoldering erotic tension that is a precursor to something totally taboo going down. That's one area that Bree Mills has yet to be able to conquer; you'll argue otherwise on the basis of awards but the mark of a great scene is one that has you breathing hard before the clothes begin to come off and these scenes have yet to do that for me.
A short reminder that if you have a look at 2000s era porn you would surprisingly find that yes, human bodies are actually colorful, their skin has texture and shadows, and the action is vivid and different.
How do you all feel about 4K high-frame-rate scenes?
When done well (which happens, inconsistently), the clarity to me is fantastic.
While anyone can shoot 4K with the right camera, I do think that 'technical standards' in general are far better now than 10 years ago. Unless you consider the Sony Handycam style (for example) artsy, which you could.
Maybe I misread you but I think you are confusing artcore porn with scenario porn. Now while these two things can't be in the same scene at the same time. They are not the same thing. Artcore is basically gonzo porn at a lower speed and more subdued but it is still gonzo porn. Scenario porn is a porn that has a story, established characters and some dialogue that doesn't automatically lead to sex and of course sex.
The bulk of Lansky scenes are pure artcore that have such an insignificant scenario that I would argue most people can't remember what it is once the scene is overs but a small amount of them are both artcore and scenario porn. A very good example of that mix of artcore and scenario porn are the scene that Abigail Mac did for Tushy.
Pure Taboo is the same thing as Girlsway but with men in the scene instead of only women and it's scenario porn because there is a story, characters and dialogue that doesn't automatically lead to sex. The main difference and the reason why I much prefer Pure Taboo to Girlsway is that the people behind PT don't produce as many scene and therefore can better develop their scenarios and it shows in the finish product. I would be a lot happier if GW did the same and cut down on their output to better develop the scenarios
Not sure where you got the idea that GFF is still the king of smoldering lesbian porn because I think the king abdicated his throne years ago. The stuff they now produce is in many ways worse than what GW produces and that's saying something when I think most of GW scenes are bad. The only time that GFF releases a smoldering scene is when they release a video that has been in the can for a long time.
@Pat362- Where are you getting these genre definitions? Some people have problems with genre definitions altogether-I don't. But I wonder (actively wondering, not semantically) if it's better to define genre here with respect to intention, because terms like "artcore" derive moreso from marketing and PR and get slippery real quickly.
To me, Lansky is merely (or artfully, depending on the point of view) taking music video aesthete and swapping out dancing for sex. There's nothing more.
Then you've got the modern incarnation of illicit 8mm that went from Handycam scenes to what we have now, which is just filmed better, because technology and ubiquity of production knowledge. The gonzo.
There's the photography guys, like FTVGirls, Hegre et al.
Then there's plot porn. Like Lansky, it's often modernized to YouTube vignettes or "web episodes". There's the long-form feature people still doing their thing, if less so.
Then you've got the latter day hobbyists on everything from Reddit to C4S.
And the medium no longer matters much.
What am I missing in this discussion? What I see is people looking for porn in the same places and wondering what changed. It's like a time warp guy from the 80s, sticking to the places he knows, and wondering where all the magazine went in his favorite porn store.
^Let me first preface that I don't think artcore is a level of intensity so much as a shooting style. Below is my breakdown of the various levels of intensity in porn.
The first level is softcore: That's usually semi-nude or all nude models in various provocative poses. Nudity by itself is not porn and that's why I have never considered Playboy to be porn anymore than I considered national Geographic to be porn and yet I used both mediums to masturbate in my youth.
The second level is midcore: That's usually semi-nude or all nude models and there is some touching of erogenous zones either by the model herself or another person. Solo masturbation is the most common example of midcore. I tend to consider many lesbians scenes to be more midcore than hardcore.
The third level is hardcore: This one I'm not really going to expand all that much on because we have all seen plenty examples. Instead I will discuss where a midcore scene veers into hardcore. In a solo scene it's when the models uses various toys to penetrate herself. In lesbian porn it's when there is penetration by fingers or toys.
The fourth level is extreme: This one is not so much a level so much as an extension of hardcore because it's still hardcore but much more intense. Fisting, DAP and DVP are very good example of 3extreme porn.
I don' think you have a modern equivalent to 8mm or 16mm because the technology has surpassed both mediums decades ago. Even amateur and cam content is leap years beyond both early porn mediums.
While I would love to call what Lansky does plot or scenario porn. As I previously mentioned it really isn't because there is very little dialogue, no well defined characters and no story. t's basically a vocal intro with 2 minutes of useless interaction between the players before the sex.
^ Fair enough. I don't like to make definitions based on what sexual actions are taking place...it feels dated and arbitrary. I'd classify by intention, and 8mm (in the way we usually think of it today) is part of the "illicit / pervy" genre. Lansky to me is a music video format, which you aptly describe as "vocal intro with 2 minutes of useless interaction between the players"...eye candy (or maybe eye sore for some people here). Totally agree about "artcore" being a shooting style independent of which 'sex acts' are being performed.
There are some nice pristine places yes but the trend is clear: the more popular they are getting the sooner they turn into 4k white room anal on anal blowbang ARTCORE thing.
^ Yeah :-( The perceived formulaic way to make the big bucks. Although sadly that is the case sometimes, although more like medium bucks. I'm not seeing much innovation in porn shooting styles...tinkering maybe, but nothing cohesive or unified. And look at VR porn. No, scratch that. Don't look at VR porn, because it's almost all crap. Backwater filled with shit. Speaking as a porn fan. I know the hard work and passion that goes into it, so I don't feel great about criticizing. But looking at the state of things in aggregate, I don't have a lot of good things to say about the topic. I'm also not crazy about the thread title. I feel strongly about art and all porn being art. I want art to flourish. To me, what we're talking about is like the vocodered/autotuned, sampled and sequenced, racing-to-the-Top-40 world of porn. Blah.
