I just saw a series of articles stating that LA has passed the law that porn studios and directors will have to use condoms for shoots. Does that mean EvilAngel and Overboard Video have to wear condoms now or will they move to avoid the rule? I need clarity...

They might, i know I would. Pornography needs to move outta Cali anyway, the rest of the US has a lot to offer. It might never be as lucrative as it was before (via DVD) but it will probably improve.
A politician who had an affair with a pornstar must have contracted something and then got all pissed off about it, so they are going to take it out on the entire industry.
The business is in California because it is the only place where it's legal to shoot porn because of a case in the 80's called Miller vs California. The industry won't go anywhere. We will simply stop applying for film permits which, under this legislation, would allow the "condom police" to know our whereabouts. Meanwhile, poverty, decaying infrastructure, gang wars and failing schools will continue unabated.

It's going to get better. The mentality of the people of the United States is changing by the day. This whole Ronald Reagan phase is fading.
I think it has more to do with porns complete lack of self policing, numerous outbreaks of HIV and questionable testing of same. If the industry would have taken steps towards a safe work environment, this wouldn't have happened. I deserve to work in a safe environment....why shouldn't a porn performer?

If you're thinking of the claims by the Health Dept people that there had been dozens of cases, that was wrong, and they admitted it. They were counting everyone who had ever tested positive at AIM; most of the positives never actually worked in the industry.
Do you have any idea what you are talking about? Numerous outbreaks of HIV? Questionable testing? How about a PCR/DNA test every three weeks and HIV incidences that are far less than the general population, especially when you factor in the sheer magnitude of sexual encounters which take place on a daily basis. This is a political act, plain and simple. Do your homework before you open your mouth.
Mike, you are forgetting about the pornucopia of New Hampshire, where case law was established a few years ago. Manchester is going to become the new L.A., and the cold weather will have a perk-effect on nipples. Even though the legal status is what it is now, shouldn't California be 'concerned' about another state with more practicality than NH capitalizing on this and going through the procedure to create a pro-porn filming environment, especially Nevada?

I'm guessing the industry will stay in southern California. Because legally it would probably be too difficult to go elsewhere.
I suspect there is much going on behind the scenes we don't see yet, but I suspect the City of LA is shooting themselves in the foot again. It's been awhile since I investigated the permit requirements. Why wouldn't the studios just move the shoots outside LA City and eventually the infrastructure would follow? Maybe it's been a back scratching effort to date. As long as the city has tolerated the industry, the industry goes along with the permit program. If the back scratching ends, something will have to change. I doubt the change is using condoms.

Well said. I never quite understood how one of, if not the most beautiful state in all the USA has such screwed up, backward people as California. They systematically have destroyed the state, it is bankrupt. Now big brother can take over and impose more rules and regulations. California will get exactly what it deserves, a dick up their asses.
Wouldn't be the first time porn production has relocated. Remember lot of the classics from 70 and early 80s were shot in NYC and San Francisco. Even now some companies are shooting in Florida. They could also shoot in Las Vegas which isn't that far from LA. But I seriously doubt California will force an multi-billion dollar industry to flee the state when the state is broke and desperate for tax revenue and jobs. Like everything else in California they will pass some regulations which they don't have the funding to enforce.

The claims for porn being a multi-billion industry have always been hyperbole, and its even more so since the web has decimated the industry. Regardless, the establishment in LA, liberal and right-wing, will be glad to see porn go no matter what the economic impact, which I would suspect won't be as significant as some claim, after all this is LA.

I really hope they do. I haven't bought a movie from Wicked Pictures in YEARS. I stopped buying because I got so sick of seeing condoms in every scene. Prior to the condoms, Wicked Pictures was the #1 company I bought from. I hope companies move productions and continue to offer porn without condoms. I see no problem with some stars only working with condoms, that's their choice. But vice versa, if some studios don't want to use them and some stars don't want to use them they shouldn't have to. I think they should. I really wish american porn would start being shot in houses and living rooms that look like actual living spaces for regular people instead of these million dollar houses in the valley. Hardcore porn shot in everyday living spaces makes the fantasy feel more real imo. Like how the old euro porn used to do it at the turn of the century.
Well I'm sure as hell not buying condom porn. But I think they should find a way to relocate no matter what. If only on principle. I once (or twice) jokingly said they should shoot on a ship in international waters. Does anybody in the industry have the funds to buy and maintain a cruise ship?
[Does the Mann Act apply? If you cross a state line make sure your talent is in a separate car from the producer, director and performers? Do they still bust people for trafficking across state lines?

I am inclined to agree with you. Things like this happen because some douchebag politician may have gotten caught cheating via STI symptoms. Looks like they want to take it out on the porn industry as a whole.

That explanation is a little too literal and paranoid imo. US society has always detested pornography, at least at the official public and political level.
i think hollywood producers are behind this so they can get more porn fans to watch there feature films remember there was a time porn was private now every wanna be star makes a lousy r rated sex tape that means bigger bucks for them
