I live in a state where adult video stores are illegal. I believe ownership of porn video might be illegal as well. If I purchase dvds using USPS, is there a risk that the package will be opened (if suspicious looking) by postal workers/inspectors? What are the other states in the US which do not allow porn? Do the local authorities police the sale of porn through mail?

The only time I know of packages being stronglt suspicious of being open was when I did a couple adult trades with a guy in Canada. It took over a month for the disc to get to him. He's a great trader, and we had quite a few jokes going back and forth about it. All of the retailers I've dealt with (the ones that support ADT), ship in the standard priority mail boxes, so there's nothing that should trigger USPS. If you're really worried, place one small order and see how it goes.

The answer is, No, they typically won't. To open a package takes a great deal of paperwork. There are situations that call for it to happen (and sometimes a very random known Porn Vendor package may be recognized), but for the average Joe/Jane's packages won't be. There are lots and lots of more important things that USPS Inspectors have to watch for.
