Well, the vids seem to start out working a-okay, but at some point in the playbacks I'm getting the following error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Can anyone help me out here, 'cause it doesn't seem to be anything to do with my Media player 'cause it's right up to date, nor the codec 'cause like I said before, some clips are okay whilst others brake down part the way through??? I've noticed one thing though, that although it does lock-up in the very same place you can actually avoid the fault if you skip past it, 'cause the clip plays okay on either side of the fault. But if I attempt to play that particular part of the clip, it just locks-up again. Could this be a sign that the file on the site is corrupt? When I check the information offered for the error the web page that comes up says the following: C00D1199: Cannot play the file -The file type is not supported by the Player. For a list of file types (formats) that are supported by Windows Media Player, see Supported file types. -The file type is supported by the Player, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the Player. -The file type is supported, but you are trying to play it in a way that is not supported by the Player. For example, you might have tried to drag a DVD file with a .vob extension from a DVD to the Windows Media Player icon. Or you might have tried to open a .vob file by clicking Open on the File menu. -You are trying to play one part of a multipart file. Use a newsreader or other program to combine the files, and then try again. Jeff @ IAFD  Webmaster IAFD.COM 931 Posts 6/00 | Posted - Jun 6 2005 : 11:19AM Since WMVs are often designed for streaming (you can play segments of the file before the whole file is finished downloading' something not available with AVIs for instance) they're pretty forgiving of errors in the middle of movies by allowing you to skip over them (resume the d/l as it were); but when it encounters the corrupted section, it just hemorrages. Try to redownload the content and see if that helps. If not, you might want to ask the site owners (BOB) about it. [Link] |
