Well, I meant without getting costly cease-and-desist letters from lawyers or having your ISP cancel your account. Maybe it's different with torrenting mainstream stuff, but my understanding is that torrenting porn isn't quite the unaccountable free-for-all anymore that it once was, at least in some parts of the world.

^ Most of the people I know torrent nearly everything they watch, I highly doubt they use proxies and they'e never received any notices. But even if it was a proxy is as easy to install as torrent software, can't see it being much of a barrier. In Canada loads of people use a proxy plugin with Chrome to watch American Netflix and video services usually blocked in Canada (eg. Hulu). And these are ordinary everyday people who have trouble figuring out how to install their printers. Hell, even the boss of my wife torrents TV shows and she is in her 50s or early 60s. TV Torrenting is a huge one. Most of us these days are busy and don't seem to like the appointment viewing of a TV show, and of course, many don't even have "cable TV" anymore. So, where else can people watch their favorite show.... Netflix making their own shows has been so smart for them. Not only are a lot of them high quality shows, it also addresses this issue of "on demand" needs and mobile devices and the like. iTunes helped with a lot of the music piracy by giving the public easy and cheap access to what they wanted (individual songs digitally). Netflix is a good model, however, their selection is really hit and miss up here in Canada and movies come and go which frustrates a lot of people. Back when I first got cable internet at home (I think around 1999 or 2000), I went on a piracy spree. I was getting programs like Office, MP3s like crazy (hated paying 16 bucks for a CD just to get 2 songs I wanted), movies, and porn. As I got a bit older and saw the impacts piracy was having, I put a complete stop to it. I got an iTunes account and got all my music from there, and went back to buying and paying for movies and porn. I think a lot of people treat torrenting today like it is a normal part of life and they have no idea the impact it is having. I think people are like that with a lot of industries like slaughter houses or child labor.. "If i don't see the negatives first hand, I don't care" Between porn , itunes music , and adding to my hollywood movie collection via blu ray buying, I am probably spending 200 - 300 bucks a month in order to not be a pirate. It isn't always cheap to do the right thing.

Well, duh, yeah, I like getting up a few hackles. Makes people think. For those who think I'm misogynist, know this. I have no more affection for men generally. I think they are bullies and every bit as insecure about themselves as women. My original point was that women don't buy porn, men do, so stop pandering to nonexistent demographics with shitty porn and get back to the good old old basics. You'll make more money pandering to men with films. Pander to women with dildos and lingerie.

Well, some women do pay for porn and some women pirate porn... same as the male species..... so, if you want to hold to a position that is untrue, what is the point of even talking?
I'm trying get to figure out why he is advocating to get rid of the films I like. I like features which I am sure fall into his category of romance porn.

Well, we might as well shut down the industry and just do custom videos for one specific segment of buyers and tell everyone else to go home and get new jobs... :) Those segment of buyers can all pirate the content until there is no more porn industry. Sounds awesome doesnt it. The hard part is deciding which segment of buyers you want to cater the porn industry to... since, it seems, only one type of porn is allowed.
