Would a Porn Actors Guild Improve Porn, or would it hurt the industry?

I think there should be some sort of organization for the actors, for medical and other benefits.

Organizing the porn performers into a "guild" or association or union has been tried in the past--and failed. The porn biz is run by the Moneymen who own the production companies, and--like company owners in most industries--they do not want their employees to have strong "voice."
If my research is accurate, the last attempt to create an adult performers "group" was in the late 1980s/early 1990s. And the companies just refused to hire talent that was part of the group until the group desolved.
Having a performers guild could, as you suggest, lead to increased rates & benefits for the performers. That's not in the best economic interest of the big or small production companies.

I dont think the industry needs a guild for performers, but it could help. Not so much as a protection vs. the production companies but for securing collective benefits - ie., health insurance, dental, vision, 401K, IRA ect.
The female performers I rep do make a considerable income for a short period of time, not good for a "union" but just fine for securing benefits. They can always stay on and continue to pay if they choose.
Just imagine a pornstars retirement home like the TV and movie industry has!!!
