Yesterday I had a conversation with a guy who runs a videostore in Duesseldorf, Germany.
I know that guy for 10+ something years and I know he is very reliable.

So, yesterday I told him that around here very often people are looking for new porno DVD´s from America, as well as from Europe (with GGG and alikes being the most requested, as it looks), and I suggested to him, he should go online with a DVD-store to sell these within´the countries that are part of the european union.

Problem would be, that due to the legal restrictions of german laws, he wouldn´t be allowed to show any explicit material at a website. It would rather look like a website with just titles and one could order via email.
Prizes would be very reasonable and normally every title that could be re-ordered would be avail or could be made available within a reasonable period of time.

So, question is, would that be interesting for someone around here?

Please respond, because if enough people would show their interest, I truly believe that lots of you guys would very soon have a new and reliable source for the kind of porno you want to purchase.

P.S.: Not to be mistaken, I do have zero financial or whatever interests in that matter. I am going to purchase 95 % of the porno I buy from that guy anyway, as usual. Just thought that maybe this could be a good idea for some of you. Thanks for reading.

P.S. 2: That guy, Thomas K., will register here very soon, so he will be able to give you more details, just in case someone would may like to ask questions and/or make suggestions regarding the titles you may would like to request.

I'm not sure this will work if the guy won't show any boxcovers, I mean most people (including me) buy movies based on the boxcover.

I think the idea is worth exploring and the problem of not showing covers is not that big a deal. You can generally find a boxcover from another site anyway. More important will be the way to process payments safely, discrete shipping etc.

He will have to compete with the likes of EroDVD for price and service.

What about hosting the site, even if intended for the German market, elsewhere in the E.U.? Wouldn't it be the case that even shipping porn within Germany would cause legal issues? Perhaps it might be better to operate from outside Germany (e.g. the Netherlands, or Austria/Switzerland) to avoid such problems? Or is that going to be too much hassle?

If it's only GGG, I don't quite see the point, I would be interested if he stocked a large range of Videorama, Magma, DBM and other German studios, at decent prices.

Potentially I would try him, but it would depend on price, shipping, stock availability, ease of followup, etc..

Boxcovers are also useful so we have some idea of what we're trying to buy. With so many different versions of sometimes the same title throughout Europe, it can be hard to see exactly what we're buying..

I second Gabriel's idea that it might be best to host the website outside of Germany elsewhere in the EU, so he can show boxcovers. There are several MMV and Magma titles I'd like to buy that are either unavailable or too expensive through my usual Euro channels.

cheers,

scipio

Nope, as long as you stick to a few simple rules (thus being: 1.) Have a xeroxed ID of the purchaser, 2.) sent registered hands only or parcel) it´s allowed.

This is incorrect. The German law states that it is NOT legal to send any porn via mail under any circumstances. This applies whether sending from inside or outside Germany. This is exactly the reason why customs seizes any shipments of porn. The recipient will not face any legal charges but the goods are lost.

reason for this is to prevent minors from getting access to porn.

Surely though, as long as you are sending porn to another country outside of Germany you are unlikely to get your package confiscated.

German customs/post office will be looking for imported porn rather than checking out packages that are being exported. This is a problem left to the authorities to where the package is bound.

brasilfan,

first of all, this is not a question about being right or wrong, correct or incorrect. It´s a question of how the existing laws are handled by those who made them. In terms of practicabilty the laws - which you stated absolutely correct, thus given - can not be handled according to the words of the law, simply because of the fact that there is not enough manpower at the Department of Public Prosecution. And, second to that, not enough interest in the matter of prosecuting porn mailers, because there are so many crimes much uglier than that committed these days. Hence in real life, no porno that is sent from one place in Germany to another place in Germany will catch the interest of any public prosecutor, as long as it is packed well enough to not display it´s real content. Same applies if you sent to any place within the European Union (as long as the destination country has signed the customs clearity agreements, which most of the E.U. countries already have).

So, my statement was made from under the knowledge of what happens in reality and not about what might could happen in theory, but I aprreciate your concern anyway.

And, your example with custom problems only appeals, when you have someone from outside the E.U. sent porno to your flat/house. You can not compare that situation to the one we are talking about in this very thread. Customs have no right to control any package that is sent from one E.U. country to another E.U. country (as long as both countries have signed the customs agreements I already mentioned above).

Habe fertig!

Don't know about Germany but I used to live in London and I know for a fact that HM Customs routinely confiscate porn sent from The Netherlands to the United Kingdom. Both countries are members of the European Union...

To me this looks like that the U.K. did not sign the european customs agreements which I mentioned above.

Hmmmmm, why isn´t that a miracle to me? In the U.K. they still have their own currency and not the Euro, so it looks like the Brits prefer their own ways of handling things, whatever.

Britain is part of the trade agreements, but isn't there provision within these for countries to make exceptions based on their moral and social values? After all, it seems Germany is making an exception too.

I would buy from him even if he had no covers on his site. I don't buy DVDs because of the cover but I read reviews.

For me it would be far more important that the prices are good. Here in germany porndvds are way too expensive. For instance, I'm looking for the 'My Plaything'-series but I'm absolutely not willing to pay at least 40 E (+shipping) since that's far more than I'd pay if I order only 1 disc in the usa including the shipping.

What prices would he have?

I agree with charlie on this. I would be more than happy with a good shop located in germany with low prices! Even more if it is right in my area.

Bud,

be shure that a "My plaything" DVD won´t cost you 40,00 Euro. I believe it would be around 30,00 Euro (at least from the usual prizes I know). That´s for example the prize he asks for a brandnew EvilEmpire DVD (and those located in Germany know that most stores ask 40,00 to 50,00 Euro for an EvilEmpire DVD).

And far as I know, prizes would definetely be lower than at EroDVD.

Far as I heard, the website should be up in the weeks to come. If anyone wants to contact Thomas earlier, feel free to drop me an email and I will forward it to Thomas, no problem.

What about the possibility of having a link to an image found on another site. It could be a popup of the image. Technically, you would not be hosting images. I know I would be willing to host images for you.
