Once again, it's another nice example why it's so great to have the affiliates here at Adult DVD Talk, where not every store will be accepted!

| HardUp Member 7 Posts 10/03 | Has anyone ordered from www.platinumdvd.com? I ordered some dvd's 3 weeks ago, and still have not heard anything back from them since the original email stating they got my order. My biggest mistake was not checking the company out. They have no physical address or phone number on their site that I can find. Or any type of customer service or email address that I can ask about my order. I am rather angry about this whole deal, and not being able to find any info about this company at all. Am I screwed or does anyone have any info about them? [Link] |

| HardUp Member 7 Posts 10/03 | I sent an email to the guy who registered it, and the mailer demon sent it back. I called the number listed for the guy also, and of course that recording of " the number you are trying to reach is no longer in service" came on. So I guess I just learned a valuable lesson. I wish I would have found this site BEFORE I ordered! |

| HardUp Member 7 Posts 10/03 | The package was sent out on Oct 14. 3 days after I started this thread. I wonder if the owner seen this thread and decided to make good on the order. Well just wanted to say thanks for the help, and I am glad to be able to be a member of this great site! |

They came back under a different name and continued to sell, racking up high feedback with very little problems (seemed to be only retalitory deadbeat bidder feedback). Sorry, I don't have their alternate handle available in my records right now. All in all, they were honestly faily decent sellers. They delivered new, sealed and exactly as advertized (as limited as they could at least per eBay rules) product. They MAINLY sold 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 pack bundles of Sunshine Video 4 hour comp dvds. As much as some hate them, they actually had numerous scenes from Semore Butts and other very good productions, and appeared to be off the master betacam tapes and not a crappy VHS->DVD copy like the infamous Leisure Time dvd comps. They had excellent prices at the time for these, in bulk as low as about $4 per 4 hour DVD. They started playing games with shipping like charging $10 to ship 10 dvds that arrived for $3.90 for Priority Mail, etc.. They also expanded into the higher value titles but I didn't see much bidding on those, and the market seemed to cause them to disappear from eBay naturally (as opposed to rule violations). They had been up to listing about 400-600 auctions concurrently with 2 or 3 duplicates of each tile offered in a staggered close rate. By the way this was circa November 2001 through mid 2002 this all occurred. I even received one disc from them that didn't play (it was sealed), and they sent a $3.50 (at the time) priority mail stamp and had me return it and I got a replacement shortly thereafter.
The continued to have very good deals.. Again, concentrating on the comp discs as well as lower priced stuff with a few higher priced/more in demand items ,but it clearly wasn't a large inventory. My best guess they were more so a "quick dump" front for a few warehouses rather than a totally separate entity, but that's just conjecture on my part. If you search this forum, you'll find comments from me about buying some more Sunshine Comp discs and some newere "Kick Ass Productions" comp discs (which were in the middel between Sunshine and Leisure Time for quality even though they seemed to use Sunshine graphic layouts for the covers and had some duplicated, but lower quality materian on the discs). I got these from platinumdvd.com I ordered from them a total of 4 times I think outsite of eBay. Two occassions, I didn't receive my product in the correct period of time. One of them, it was indeed post marked when they said they shipped (a few days after payment) and it did literally take the post office 25 some days to get to me.. I dont fault them for that as I've had similar problems shipping stuff through the post office. Another time I never got it after a month and they agreed to send me out replacements, yet were very nonschalaunt(sp?) about it (e.g. not worrying I was stealing their $100 worth of discs), that I started to believe they wern't being truthful about ship dates. Then the final order, I ordered 2 Leisure Time comp discs (just to see if they were as bad as people said they were.. and yes, they were pretty poor.. ~1 good scene in 4 hours of vid). Unfortunately they didn't ship what I ordered, they shipped different #'s in the series than what was described. No big deal, it was just a comp disc, but they didn't reply to my inqury. That was circa Feb 2003 I think. So for almost 9 months I didnt even go out to their web site (they stopped sending emails with $5 off coupons or what not, so no use me going out) but then I checked their site out a month or so ago. I found they stopped even selling product (dvds) and only had video on demand on their web site. (AT least *I* couldn't find where they actually sold product).
Going out today, I get a 404 error hitting their site, yet Google has a cached homepage, and I can get in clicking that first in their cache. Interesting to say the least. PS: I communicated entirely through email when I had problems with them on delivery in the past. I no longer have links to what those addresses may be however, unfortunately. |
