Just wanted to post a quick thumbs up for X-Rent for shipping to the UK. Tried a small order for a couple of items out of stock in many other stores and was pleased to find Global Priority shipping (no cases) brought my order transatlantic in about 4 working days. Great prices and, um, helpfully valued on the customs declaration too.

However, one thing that I must mention as a drawback was that shipping costs are hard to find on their site and indeed only appear in the order process once you're ready to place an order. I'd like that to come up a good deal earlier, certainly made me think twice about ordering. Some more clarity there would be good.

Overall though, well recommended.

I guess the info on the ADT price search will need to be updated, but I only found out recently they'd started shipping internationally to a limited list of destinations. From their FAQ, these are as follows:
"Australia, Austria, Belgium, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom".

When I do a search X-rent normally comes out at top of the list , but soon as you out UK it goeds bottom. lol

They get a thumbs down from me. You can't rent from them (UK) and indeed the hidden charges are expensive. Very nearly went for it.

$8.25 for the film (used)
$1.75 for shipping

and whats this on the final page of the checkout

$18 (inc shipping and erm handling)

I may as well get the movie new for the same price elsewhere :(

I don't think they have hidden charges as such, though I agree they should be more transparent up front about shipping rates. The problem is that I think you need to be logged in and have a shipping destination entered to get an accurate price on shipping - from the orders I have placed with them it is $10 for the USPS Global Priority with no cases shipping (which compares with $9.95 from Adult DVD Today for the same service).

Did you actually go through with the order, Bedlam?

No Gabriel, didn't go through with it.

Just been looking at their site again. Think I actually took it in wrong :)

USPS Shipping IS $10, even with more than 1 title, I somehow seen the $10 as my total cost and the difference between my cheap used dvd ($8) as the shipping cost. Doh!

Will probably buy something when there's 3-4 titles I want :)

And your order only took 4 days! Jeez I'm still waiting on a movie from Lasers Edge (shipped 7th)

On an end note, I still wish they'd let us rent their movies :(

Cheers

Your mistake is easy to understand, I don't think they are clear enough about shipping. It would not hurt to add shipping rates to their FAQ pages. My feeling is that if you do have any doubts about a merchant, don't use them.
Me too! I am waiting for one shipped on the 30th of November, actually, thanks for reminding me. I must chase that one up if it doesn't arrive soon...

Have just ordered a couple of used titles (both in stock) from Xrent, Gabriel.

Ordered from Laser's edge too. Now I'm not saying it's a race or anything espesh since Laser didn't seem to charge a shipping fee (no $1.99)

Oh, and my last movie from Laser's Edge came through okay, it's just that sometimes I end up thinking has the postie snaffled them up only for the parcel to bob through the door.

Cheers

Another reliable retailer here. Received last order from them in 5 days global priority. Customs friendly. They sell ex-rental, and also new, dvds. Good stock range.
