Alrighty, so I have never attached my XBox to the internet to go to XBox live until today, but now that I've downloaded the Rock Band Store info, I don't see very many songs for purchase. I see some, but is there a way for me to search artists, i.e to get a list of just the artist first? I know tons of content has been released, but I'm not see it. Thanks,

No search that I know about, but you can navigate to:
Game Marketplace - Add-ons (or something like that)- All Games - Choose Rock Band 2
Once in there you can use your left stick (maybe right, don't recall) to move the sort type by newest, highest rated and Title. Title is in alphanumeric order, which is the easiest way to find specific songs.
**Edit - I missed a step**

I discovered a lot more songs through a route I stumbled upon today. There isn't really a good way to look through it from what I see and I can't believe they wouldn't have an organized list by band, but I'll figure it out. I bought a track pack the other day because I liked a lot of the songs on it, but primarily because it had The Dead Kennedy's California Uber Alles (my fav DK song) and Holidays in Cambodia. Now I'm hoping for more punk plus other stuff. I'm gonna HAVE to get the full Pixies' Doolittle album.

I think you can also go to xboxlive.com on the web and search for songs that way.

I know this is late, but go into Rock Band (the game) and go to the store.
Once there, you should see 3 or 4 categories (New Releases, Albums, Track Packs, and Songs I believe).
In any of those you can do this:
1) Press the "back" button and it will change the sorting (this is the button to the left of the big XBOX button you use to turn the controller on). You can sort by song, band, album, etc.
2) You can press and hold the yellow (Y) key and it will bring up a menu where you can jump to specific letter or section.
When you select a song you'll see options to buy or preview, but if it is also part of a trackpack or album, you will see option to view that pack or album (a clear indicator that you might save some money buy buying it in bulk as part of the album or pack, rather than individually).
There are some caveats to that. If you buy songs individually, you can delete them from your hard drive. If you buy an album or pack, you can't delete individual songs (you have to delete the entire pack). So for example if you buy the Iron Maiden pack but dislike one of the songs, you can't just delete that song if you don't want to ever play or show up in random setlists. Just something to keep in mind.
BTW, those same commands work in the song list in the game when you are setting up a setlist or looking for a specific song. If you've updated the game you'll also see a "By Star Ranking" or something like that, but it works goofy since it was an update. You basically have to beat your last score to get a ranking, and if you haven't beat it, then it shows as "unplayed" for some reason.
