I know that XRent ships from California, but I don't know where in CA.
I haven't tried their Preferred program yet, but I also would be interested in hearing from those who have. Considering their wide selection, I am considering switching from Flicksmart to XRent. I have no major complaints with Flicksmart, but XRent seems to have a better selection of movies.

X-Rent shipments typically takes one day less than other shipments from the west coast do. I think that they are bypassing the local post office and dropping packages off at a USPS sortation facility.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if you received your package from them the day after ordering.
I've gotten great shipping service from Xrent here in Chicago on all my purchase orders, and on all my rentals on the regular old system. I rarely had to wait more than two days for anything.
I switched from Flicksmart to Xrent Preferred because of the selection, and you can't really argue with that. But so far, I've had worse luck with the shipping times. The turnaround when you return a disc has been slow, it seems; I'll cut them some slack for a while because the service is new. I also had a disc go missing, but that's probably just bad luck. YMMV.
VERY nice. A few weeks ago they asked us what it would take for us to buy from X-Rent more. The overwhelming answer was "participation in the Kickback program". At the time, we were told that this was not possible.
It's nice to see that they listened and found a way to make this work.
Glad to see XRent joining the Kickback program. When I do my Comparison Cart here at ADT the one thing that keeps me from going to XRent with all my purchases is the lack of a Kickback. If they join the program I may never have to shop anywhere else.
You must bow down to the Almighty Bunghole!! Bungholiiioooo!! Always HoldenMagroin
Drew: BTW, I received a note from XRent yesterday. They should have the Kickback program functional for purchased items within the next few weeks.
Astro... I'm hearing mixed reactions on XRent joining kickbacks.
I glazed over that one because I have never ordered from them, but I share your sentiments Astro, about the "woohoo", and the "doh".
Maybe I will order from them now, but first after I move to Georgia, which will be pretty soon. (I haven't looked at their site yet, I hope they ship to Georgia.)
Xrent is actually ready to issue credits for redemptions right now. They are still working on a few minor details for the tracking of orders for earning credit with them.
There are a few things that will be different with respect to Kickbacks and XRent DVD. Shoppers will only earn credit on purchases, not rentals. This includes purchases of new and/or used products. (But you will only be able to transfer new items to their store with the cart transfer.)
In order to redeem credit Kickback with XRent the email address associated with your ADT Kickback profile will need to be the same one that XRent has on file or you'll need to provide ADT with the email address that you use in your XRent shopper profile. This is because XRent's credits are non-transferable and are issued to specific customer accounts. In order to issue a credit they need the customer's email address. (I assume you will have had to previously register and create a shopper profile on XRent's site in order to redeem credit but I'm not sure on that one just yet.)
XRent will be offering 5%.
BTW, Adult DVD Today will be joining the Kickback program very soon as well.
That is indeed great news about XRent joining the Kickback program. I would say I do 99% of my purchases through them, mostly renting but when I purchase they often have good deals and I only wait 2 days mostly. How about getting credit for all my old orders, lmao!! Hey I can ask can't I!!
Now I'm getting a little worried: I mailed a disc back last Thursday (granted, it was the late afternoon pickup, dropped at about 3 p.m.) but only got my messages noting that it had arrived and that the new disc was shipping today (Thursday). A week's turnaround isn't too good... I seem to be averaging about five days. I mailed another disc Saturday, I think; no word yet.
How's everybody else doing with the Preferred plan? The selection wasn't as good at Flicksmart, and so far I'm much, much likelier to get the disc at the top of my queue with Xrent, but I definitely got the discs turned around quicker with Flicksmart (and with Netflix for regular discs).

That's dissappointing. I am always afraid that companies will "sit" on your discs for a day or two, in order to cut back on shipping and put a little ease on inventory. Another concern I have is what is the quality of the discs? Since they are older inventory, are they more likely to be scratched up?
Since I've only gotten about six or seven discs through the system so far, I do want to wait until I have a better sample size before I get too disappointed. Like I said, they've been so good in the past, I expect things to improve.
The discs are fine. With all the hundreds of discs I've rented in six years, adult and non-adult, I've only ever had one that had a problem.
I just joined Xrent on Friday and ordered two DVDs as rentals. They shipped on Saturday (according to the email Xrent sent me). I'll let you all know how my experience goes. They ship from Orange County CA (where I live) so I think it will be quick for me to get them.
I didn't think any of these places worked Saturday (I don't think Netflix does.) I did notice for the first time this last Saturday that my rental source (Flicksmart) also shipped a DVD on Saturday. So, I guess they do too. (Though I didn't get the DVD until today, along with 2 others that they shipped to me on Monday.)
Regarding mail time, I'm in San Diego and I pretty consistantly notice just one day mail time for DVDs to and from Netflix (the mainstream DVD rental source.) I think that is to their distribution center in Santa Ana (same city as Xrent, I believe.) It takes 2 days, typically, from Nevada. Can anyone confirm consistantly getting discs in just one day from Xrent in Southern CA?
Xrent shipped on Saturday and the DVDs arrived in my mail on Monday. I asked (and paid for) priority shipping. It only cost a couple bucks more to go priority. With my mouth watering for the DVDs I ordered, a couple more bucks was well worth it to find them in my mailbox after a long day at work on Monday.
xrent is pretty good. I'm in NYC and I receive the discs in three days. Sometimes a little longer, maybe a day or two, but that is rare.
I've had one disc go missing when I sent it back and they've been good about it when I emailed them about this. They made a note of the missing disc and sent out the next disc on the queue.
Another two discs have not arrived yet and I emailed them regarding this and they said they made a note of it on my account but will wait a little longer before they say the discs are missing.
I do wish they had a more "secure" way of mailing the discs for preferred customers as well as an address other than a PO box for returns. I would be really pissed if I sent back the 8 discs I rented through the program and none of them got back to them.
Other than the shipping issues (for me anyway, I don't want to have to pay for discs that get lost/pilfered in the mail) Xrent is alright.
I live in Northern California and get the discs in 2 days. Never 1 or 3, but I've only been on for 3 weeks. Service is great. One disc was damaged, I emailed them and they sent out a replacement the same day. Selection is also good in my opinion, and only a few items are "OUT" out of 100 in my quere.
Just joined XRENT Preferred late Friday night. I check my mail this morning and what do you know, all 3 titles in my mailbox. They shipped from Santa Ana CA to Charleston, SC in a weekend. Great service so far!
