This will make it to the home page tomorrow but I figured I would give some of you a head start here in the forum.

XRent is running a special sale for the month of December. All in-stock titles have been marked down 15%. When they run out of an item the price goes back up to the normal price. This is for sell-through items only, not rentals.

Xrent is also starting the "XRentDVD Shipping Guarantee" policy which basically says if you place an order before their daily cutoff time for an in-stock item and it doesn't go out the door you will get a 100% refund of all shipping costs, even if it's overnight delivery. XRent's stock accuracy is over 99%. They are willing to back it up with an aggressive shipping policy.

We have updated our import schedule to update Xrent's prices hourly in an effort to reflect any pricing fluctuations. Also, don't forget to use our stock status feature at the top of each price search page. When you click the blue 'Check Stock' button we query the store's web sites in real time to provide accurate status.

Edit 12-4 8:30 am:
The hourly price update is now working. Xrent's pricing is accurate now.

Drew,

Is this supposed to be reflected in their online pricing or is it 15% taken off the order?

Or is it not effective yet (2:25am Dec 1)?

I ran a price check on 36 titles yesterday and, on running them again now, sho no change whatsoever in any of their prices. Or is this another str8 sale only? (NOT accusing, but maybe jumping the gun!)

This is great news, Drew! Time to once again get another big order on the way. Thanx for the update!

I believe that the 15% discount should be reflected in their online pricing. I started the process of placing a test order last night and saw nothing in the checkout process to indicate the discount was being applied at checkout.

I don't think gay titles have been excluded from the sale.

I ran the cart just prior to Thanksgiving, placing 4 orders for a total of 16 DVDs. I removed those titles from my cart at that time, leaving the current 36 entries. I still have the print-out from that run. I ran the cart again yesterday because there were 2 titles that I particularly wanted in it; however, I didn't place an order (the places that had them for the lowest cost did not have anything else I wanted at a low cost. I have that print-out as well. As of now (Sat, 1 Dec, 9am), there have been no changes in XRent's prices of the 30 titles that show up on their listing when I run the 36 items saved in my Comparison Card compared to their before Thanksgiving prices. And of those 30 titles, there are only 2 titles that are less expensive than on other sites (at $50 and $49 - not bargains!) and only 1 more that is as low as titles on other sites (at $40), based on the Comparison Cart results. All but 1 of the 30 titles show as IN STOCK when I check stock.

If XRent's prices WERE to drop by 15%, I would be ordering at least 4 and maybe as many as 6 titles.

Could you send me a sample of the titles? I'd like to check their site to see if their prices match ours. I did verify the price update is running hourly but if they aren't providing new prices to us then nothing will change on our end.

I just checked the price for Debbie Does Dallas '99 in our price search immediately after running the price import. The price we are being provided is $19.99. The price on their site is $16.99. Please ignore the prices in our price search for all of Xrent's titles. They are inaccurate.

Here are 10 with their "old" prices:
  1. Across the Ocean - $48.99 - $41.64

  2. Billy 2000 - $48.99 - $41.64

  3. Body to Die For, A - $48.99 - $41.64

  4. Border Patrol - $49.99 - $42.49

  5. Conquest, The (Gay) - $54.99 - $46.74

  6. Iron Will - $54.99 - $46.74

  7. Mavericks - $48.99 - $41.64

  8. Tailspin - $48.99 - Out-of-Stock

  9. Total Corruption 1 & 2 Double Feature - $23.99 - $20.39

  10. Trust Me - $48.99 - $41.64
  11. The prices on their site appear unchanged as well - I transferred the titles from my Comparison Card to the "wish list" on their site.

I owe XRent an apology!!! Their "Wish List" does not reflect the price drop either; however, the regular listings DO! (See above!) & I just ordered the 4 titles in bold.

I received a response from XRent. We won't have accurate prices for another day or two. In the mean time I am disabling all of their purchase prices in the price search.

Should we have XRent's titles in the price search with the knowledge that the vast majority of their prices are 15% higher than they really are?

We attempt to keep our pricing data reasonably accurate. What's a bigger disservice to price search users a) listing prices we know are inaccurate or b) not listing XRent's titles while the technical issues are worked out?

The two questions in the previous post where not intended to be rhetorical in nature. I'm actually hoping to get some feedback.

Given that it is well documented that XRent is having a 15% off sale for "most" titles taken on the check-out cart and noted on their web site but NOT reflected on the price search engine, I am perfectly capable of doing the math myself and would prefer to have the incorrect prices available to help me with the computations. (Which is exactly what I did before you pulled the plug on XRent's prices.)

True, it's documented here in this thread. The problem from my perspective is that only about 25% of the roughly 8,000 people visiting ADT per day spend any time in the forum. The rest of them just hang out in the price search and reviews area of the site. Out of the 25% that come to the forum not all of them will read the thread in the shopping forum.

Assume we have the incorrect (higher) prices listed and someone isn't aware there's a sale going on and a technical glitch in the price search. Is the potential confusion good for the consumer? XRent? ADT? (BTW, there's no mention of a sale on the XRent site at this time other than a small 15% off noted under the price on the product pages.)

While our price search is certainly not 100% accurate, we do work hard to provide the most accurate adult dvd price search anywhere on the internet. It's a bit of a dilemma for us to knowingly promote inaccurate data but if it's not a problem for people that use the price search then it certainly shouldn't be a problem for us.

Drew:

Just put a banner up like you would for any other coupon that says, XRent is have a 15% off sale on their site for all current, in-stock inventory while supplies last - NO COUPON NEEDED!

Everyone reads the coupons. Doesn't that resolve the issue?
