I have been a long time customer of XRentDVD and have always been very happy with their service. However, recently I have experienced delays in shipping, both in receiving and returning titles. An example; I drop off 3 titles at the post office. XRent receives 1 the next day, 1 two days later and the other four days later. The same has been happening the other way - they ship multiple titles to me on the same day but I receive them on a staggered schedule.
In the past I would receive or they would receive all titles the next day about 80% of the time and had to wait more than two days very infrequently. So I don't know what has been happening the last 2 or 3 weeks. Is it a change in the way the Post Office is processing mail to and from XRent? Is it an issue with the processing at XRent?

Curiously, my problem with Xrent has been exactly the opposite. Since I don't want all 3 discs on my plan to show up at once, I try to stagger the mail-backs for a more spread-out turnaround. In a perfect world I would get a new one every 3 days or so.
Yet they often (not always) seem to wait until all 3 have arrived to acknowledge their return, and again ship all 3 together.
I am largely satisfied with Xrent's service, so this is but a minor annoyance. But your post is intriguing in that your problem with them is exactly the reverse.
that happens to me all the time- i drop multiple titles in the box, well, actually, at the post office itself since i pass it on the way to work, or i'll get a string of "just shiopped" emails on the same day, yet sure enough, i get 1 today, 2 tomorrow, 1the next day, ect ect.

I have the same issue lately with staggered deliveries. I am on the 16 out-at-once plan, and often will drop 6 DVDs in the mailbox on Monday. They acknowledge getting all six back 2-3 days later, and ship out new ones the same day, but it I get one 3 days later, two the next, non the next...
Makes me wonder if they are really shipping them when they say. I have used them for 5 plus years, and no problems until recently.

Well, this isn't much (any) help but, if there's a pattern, I can't see it.
My 3 discs are often acknowledged as received back in a different order than I mailed them, and ones they've shipped may take anywhere from 2 to 6 days to reach me.
As I posted above, I'm pretty much okay with Xrent's service, but I've given up trying to engineer any calendar spacing.
They're in CA, I'm in Oregon -- my individual disc turnarounds average about 9 days, although it can range from 7 to 12 days.
From the other companys' problems I read about here, I guess I can live with it, especially since my 2 trials with AdultDVDEmpire and Wantedlist were complete Mongolian clusterfucks.
Have you tried BushDVD? They have a "Rapid Return" option where you tell them (just click a link in the rental queue) that you have mailed a movie back. At that point they wait two days and mail you the next movies.
In your case, you could mail returns on Monday, mark them as mailed on the website, get new movies sent to you on Wednesday which should get to you in 3 days on Saturday. Shorter turn around and ta-daa movies every weekend. The whole plan screws up if mail service doesn't get to you in 3 days from CA.

Thanks, HeyNow. Bush has been on my back burner for a tryout for some time now. I see only three problems at present:
1 - Bush mails 2 discs at a time (I prefer one) 2 - Xrent keeps complicating things by being excellent otherwise 3 - I've been meaning for years to join the Procrastinators Club (one of these days)
Hopefully I might be able to shed some light on this issue. We get asked this quite a bit but hopefully I can explain it.
Plain and simple, this is a Post Office thing. I know, I know, you have heard that before and it is easy to blame things on the big, government service known as the USPS. It sucks to come in here and point the finger elsewhere but based on the previous posts and the inconsistent delivery times this seems to be the logical answer.
Once DVDs leave our shipping facility and get dropped off at the Post Office, we have no control from that point forward. We mail out boxes upon boxes of DVDs on a daily basis. If you are set to receive 3 DVDs that day, all three of your DVDs could be in three different boxes. That means that one box may get sorted right away and be put on the trucks and sent out within the hour. Another box may sit and get sorted in the afternoon and make it on a later truck. Your third DVD might be on the last box to get sorted and might not make it on the last truck out that day. Keep in mind, the Post Office is not only servicing our mail but a lot more mail from other businesses and private citizens as well. It all comes down to luck on how fast they sort the mail and what truck your particular disc gets to go on. With thousands of discs being mailed each week on a daily basis we can not control whose DVDs get on the first truck or the last truck. All we can do is give the USPS all of our mail at one time and what they do with the mail after we drop it off is all on them. I wish I could say we have a special deal with the Post Office for them to drop what they are doing and to sort all of our mail as soon as we drop it off but that is not the case.
This does not just apply to our business of shipping out DVDs. Personally my wife and I mail out Christmas cards to family and friends every December. We have family that live relatively close to one another and in the same city. One aunt will receive her card in the mail one day while my mother-in-law with receive hers two days later. Yet another aunt will receive her card on the weekend. We mailed them all out at the same Post Office from the same mail box. Somehow during the sorting process they got separated and delivered on different days.
Again, I know everyone is tired of not just us, but all of the mail order rental companies, blaming the Post Office. In reading your posts this definitely seems to be the case. The Post Office seems like an easy scapegoat these days so I can understand your frustration with and excuse of "it's the Post Office's fault". We want to keep our customers happy. Making them mad and having them cancel is the last thing we want them to do.

Thanks for your response, Dave. Please note that (at least) I was not pointedly criticizing Xrent's service.
Just wondering out loud about some very screwy mailing/shipping/receiving discombobulations.
I am, as I stated, otherwise happy with your service, although you need to acquire more titles from Gentlemens Video, i.e., their classic star comp reissues (ha - never satisfied).
I can recommend Xrent to anyone based on my 3- or 4-year account experience with them.
