I was reading on this forum a few days ago, finding out that Jenna presley had recently retired from the biz. And I just saw over at Freeones that Kenzi Marie has retired and is going back to school and working as a bartender in SoCal. Those 2 are definitely A-list performers. What's going on?

It's not for everybody. I can't imagine that being a performer is an easy career choice and I can't blame actors for wanting to try something different. It happens in all careers. I think that actors that have the career longevity of Jenna Haze or Gianna are now the exception instead of the rule. Actually, Jenna Presley and Kenzi Marie had longer careers than a lot of performers. There are many that put out one or two movies and are never to be seen or heard from again and there are probably many others that are never seen to begin with.

I see your point. Ya gotta respect their decision and I wish them well. It's just frustrating to see performers like that go. These are 2 people whose careers I've appreciated from the start, and with em both being so young, it was easy to assume that there would be a certain degree of longevity to their careers. But nothing lasts forever, and porn is not who they are, it's just what they do. I'll miss them.

Production is down by to 50 to 75 %.
Girls don't make the money they used, as a result they aren't in the adult industry for very long these days.

^ This is a sad fact of life.
It makes us appreciate the ones that do stick around for awhile even more.

Is that really so???? I mean the explosion of webbased porn feels gigantic? Shouldn't that wigh up the production loss for direct to dvd?

Fans are going to see less and less new talent enter the industry and less and less productions.
Anyone watching porn on free tube sites are contributing to this downturn.
Just talked to a very well know performer and she is only shooting one scene a month and is also thinking of leaving the industry for good.

Piracy is killing the porn industry. Production is way, way down at least 50% and closer to 75%.

There are only a handful of web companies shooting on a regular basis. All that will be left as for choices are the Burger Kings, MacDonalds and Wendys of porn... all other tastes and options will no longer be available.
Just as fast food as replaced a lot of food choices .. these "fast-food" porn web companies are replacing the porn consumers choices.
The only difference I see is that amateur porn will rise in the next 2-3 years replacing much of the gonzo market.
So in comparison you will either eat at one of the big 3 porn companies or from a dirty water hot dog cart/ roach coach, for those on the west coast.
