Please explain in as much detail, how a porn dvd ends up at your home! Specifically regarding how you pick it out!

The first thing I'll do is run a search on certain girls that I'm a big fan of and check to see who else is in the film and start a mental tally of which ones have the most hot chicks.
Usually I'll start a filter on Teagan. at www.iafd.com and will filter it on Anal, Creampie, Squirt, and A2M under "Boolean Or", meaning and/or. Then I'll sort by Year in Descending so I can see the range as far as her age, experience, etc.

A few titles are left off that I know of like Serv Animals 18, but that's ok, I got a good start.
Now after I have a sorted list, I look at which ones have the most reviews, and will look at those dvds first.
The top reviewed being.. Weapons of Ass Destruction 3 with around 6 reviews. Cum Drippers 6 with around 5. Service Animals 16 with around 4. Tease Me Then Please Me with around 4.
Then what I'll do is go to www.adultdvdempire.com where you can see larger box covers that are more clear, and on more popular titles, they will provide around 15 screen shots which are a huge help in picking out a dvd. All you have to do is create an ID, you don't have to buy anything or enter your credit card info, you can do that later of course.
Starting with the top reviewed.
WOAD3 has 15 screen shots. I start counting up how many of the girls I like in the film based on that. I say around 3 based on the clothing and angles. The high reviews weight in and it's on my must by list. It's essentially the most sought out Teagan dvd there is.
The next one, Cum Drippers 6 has 15 screen caps and they are smoking! Also hits my must buy list.
The next one, Service Animals 16 has 15 screen caps, looks a bit mediocre. Probably not the best. It goes on my maybe list because Evil Angel does make good stuff.
The next one, Tease Me Then Please Me has 15 screen caps and it looks great. Added to my must buy list.
So I have 3 so far out of 20+ Teagan DVDs to choose from, that I feel stand out.
WOAD3, CD 6, and TMTPM 15.
Then I'll do a quick look through the screencaps on the other ones, and do a sort by bestselling titles by Teagan and see if any of the screencaps really catch my eye or turn me away from a certain dvd.
Like Teenage Anal Princess, that has 18 screen caps. Most of the scenes are DP, which you probably wouldn't know by just looking at the box. I don't like DP that much because it usually means some guy is going to be getting in the way of the action. And I don't like feeling left out!
I see two hot scenes and a few I'm not a fan of. So avoid this one. Another one I avoid is Ultimate Asses 4 which has a couple of nasty looking chicks in the flick. I can't pay around $20 for just one scene that I might not be that crazy about..so would rather not see it.
By filtering through screen caps, I come across Wet Dreams Cum True 3 that has Teagan with rollerskates on in the scene on some stairs getting banged. Gets put on my maybe list.
After running through a number of titles, I notice Teagan has a few titles with Roxy Jezel in them. Since she's also one of my favorites, I'll usually get most of those that include anal. 2 of the 3 on my must buy list include Roxy, so that makes me feel more comfortable about getting them and the third one, CD 6 has a lot of other girls who are also hot so is reinforced.
I'll usually sleep on it and get the ones I want the most the next day.
On a clear head, I'll pick the specific ones I want after reading a few reviews on them again, comparing box covers and screencaps, etc.
Then I'll order them next day air, open the door with an unrealistic smile on my face, and tear open the box and watch them...from the one I have the lowest expectations of...to the one I have the highest expectations of. Save the best for last!
One of the biggest factors in initial interest will be the director, followed by who is in the movie.
Then I start looking for reviews; there are probably a half dozen regular reviewers whose tastes are close to mine. These are also folks also can write decently. I tend to ignore poorly written reviews; if people aren't going to put much effort into writing, well I'm not going to put much effort into reading them.
Studio, boxcover shots, screenshots and trailers also help in the decision making process.
On the internet, I look up titles with women I like to watch. I toss out the ones from bad studios or directors. Then I look at content of the movie and quality of the studio. Last I look to see if the women in the other scenes look okay or not.
In a store I look at covers and who is in the movie. The rest of the rules apply.
I tend to look at the studio first.. Any new RLD movies get priority. Certain labels are immediately excluded regardless of the cover - Wildlife for example - if I have had bad experiences with the quality of their content.. If a girl on the cover looks hot, I'll examine the box to make sure she does HC. Strangely, they often put the least attractive girl on the cover.. I also look for familiar names. Certain genres are generally excluded, all anal, a2m etc, unless there's a particular girl I want to see.
I have a couple of directors who consistently shoot the type of scenes I like, so I always look for their new stuff first. Sometimes I download trailers posted here and it sparks my interests. I also read reviews to see if the girls I like are doing the positions I want to see. If the review is good I'll give it a rent or I might even buy it. Just depends on who's in the movie.
4. Price check, which easily could be at the top of this list because I ever seldom spend over $18.99 for an adult dvd. I enjoy porn, but since it's repeat value isn't as high as a regular motion picture film or television series dvd collection, I draw the line on the more costly titles.
I usually start by picking up a film where the girl is just fucking. The I'll wait till she moves to anal. If the girl doesn't move to anal, then most likely I will move on to another girl as I can only watch vaginal sex so many times before you've seen them fuck just about as well as they can.
I feel like I am probably the targeted demographic for current porn.
The most important thing to me is the sex acts. Is it a BJ movie, g/g line, swallowing or not, cream pie or not, interacial or not, etc. Even my favorite stars can't overcome certain types of scenes that I truly despise like cream pies. They just turn my stomach and no girl can overcome that for me.
After act, I look at the pictures offered by the boxcover and/or trailers offered on the website and see if the acts described are indeed pictured on the box.
Sometimes I consider the company or director, but that's usually only on the negative side. For example, take Ed Powers. I think the girls he shoots are gorgeous and cute and sexy and I dig their nervousness and newness. but I really can't stand Ed. I don't know why, there's just something about him that wilts my dick. And even with his all girl series, he's just to ever-present. Sorry Ed.
Well, not great ideas from me, but here it goes. I’m a renter. So, as new titles are added to my online rental site I add (to my rental queue) the new releases from my favorite studios such as RLD, Hustler and Digital Sin. Also, ZT, Plat. X and North Star. Those are the big ones. I guess studios like Devil’s Films, Sineplex and Elegant Angel would make up my “B-list” that also get a look from me. I go by my past perception of these studios and the series they offer.
I have my favorite directors and then some I have no idea about. Then if the back cover looks great I’ll move it near the top of my queue so I can get it in one of my next batches of rentals. Of course, some I’ve been waiting to be released so those get an auto move up the queue. I have a few favorite stars, like Miss Rain and Miss Snow that will demand my attention; otherwise the girls are low on my list of criteria.
Now, those that have read a couple of my posts from over the last year might know that I have 500 titles in my queue at all times. (I guess I think I can rent them all at some point – I find very little I care to delete.) I'll also look through my queue to see if I have any buried treasures that must be floated to the top of the queue.
My rental site also has a user rating system (1 to 10 stars) that I may or may not pay attention too. But mostly, a slight look the back cover to get a general idea of the “look” of the film and my general perception of the studio/title gets it to my DVD player. I guess my system is a little hit and miss, but that’s okay since I can see 8+ movies a week (all rentals of course). Sorry to say, I rarely take the time to look at reviews anymore.
When I'm preparing to shop online for porn I check out all my favorite studios for their latest releases and if something catches my fancy I'll pick it up. I also look at the latest stuff from some of my fave porn babes as well as certain directors. I pretty much have all the series I like most in my collection so these days I mainly stick to new releases.
I use to shop by studios but started to notice that I wasn't getting the best scenes. Because most studios will do their stuff essentially exactly the same.
Which can be good in the case of Evil Angel. But bad in the case of say...Red Light District. I like RLD, but feel most of their scenes of the same girl are the same. They all tend to be all nude and include the same positions.
The only difference to me are the random POV scenes. When I see POV, I think dirty talk, longer holds on sexy angles, and more close and personal porn without some guy in the way. And RLD has done well with this in titles like ANAL POV with Teagan and Natalia.
So I'm a little biased against RLD, considering I own a large portion of their stuff already and a lot of it just isn't replayable for me. I need some kind of clothes fetish, role play or POV scene to want to watch it again, and longer holds on sexier parts of a scene.
And that's usually going to come from a random scene buried in a title you'd least expect it to be.
Like I'm a fan of Molly Rome but would have never thought my favorite scene of her would come from Sweet Lil 18 #11. You'd think it would come from Notorious or Hustler, but those aren't as interesting as seeing her in a plaid red skirt she leaves on. Watching her get lifted in a red plaid skirt and start creaming heavily like she just came 5 times, then seeing the guy fall backwards onto the ground and seeing her continue riding him like she's superglued to his dick was hot. The director of this was Alex Ladd who's not nearly as well known as say Erik Everhard or Jules Jordan.
I have yet to see a well known director create a scene with a girl in a skirt left on being banged in the air for a good amount of time, creaming heavily, the guy falling down to the ground on his back and her continuing to ride him.
Instead what they'll do is have her take off her skirt within the first 5 minutes, then have the guy lift her in the air and start banging her as she yells, "ahhhh, ahhh ahh" and lay her down on say a couch on her back and continue banging her as we see most of the guys backside blocking the view. No massive creaming, no passion, just rinse and repeat type stuff.
I'm not a fan of a lot of directors, but I think If they get their hands on the right girl and provide a little creativity they could easily outperform say an RLD. Because I think the less known directors are busy trying to get known, while the RLD director is trying to maintain his image and will usually just keep giving more of the same.
Just think if you were a small time director and had a Teagan show up at your doorsteps. You'd think, this is my big chance. You'd probably draw diagrams and shit of all the stuff she'd do. You wouldn't be thinking rinse and repeat. That's why I'm a little cautious of sticking only to the big names, the girls are what make the scenes hot. Directors with their rinse and repeat just get in the way!

Before I discovered ADT.com, it was pretty much just browsing the local adult stores for anal and/or lesbian titles at a reasonable price. Now with ADT I do more research, read the reviews, search the message board for mentions of titles that seem appealing and search for stars I really like (i.e. Aurora Snow, Ander Page, Hannah Harper, etc). My criteria is still anal first, then whether I wish to fill a niche of interracial anal, older & anal, lesbian anal and so on and so forth. Then I do try to get a sense of the girls, if their looks really appeal to me. I have found myself recently leaning towards either the heavier ladies or the more mature.
There is a lot of variety out there for anal-centric titles and I happy to be making informed decisions through what ADT offers, plus finding good prices online instead of being ripped off in the stores.
I choose the movies where the girls I prefer are made to look good and are treated with respect. Of course on special occasions I will stray from this rule.
For instance, I just might choose to buy Teenage Spermaholics 2, even though Mike John makes everything look ugly, just because it’s Teagan’s first DP.

Doing net research I use the IMDb and orgazmik.com and search for directors and some favourite stars of mine.
Another approach is to visit the website of some studios and perform searches there.
Sometimes I even read a review before renting/buying a video.
Of course I also get input reading discussions on the net on ADT, e.g, or in real life.
In a video rental store I scan the covers for titles in my mental backlist, also if a cover I do not know attracts me I like to find out about the director and cast.
What works as a repellant for me are words like "ass", "whore" and especially "cunt" in my mothertongue in the title. Strangely, if the title is in English I don't care too much. Many plus-points go for covers showing women dressed or semi-nude with actual dresses.
If your store arranges covers according to studios you can get stuck with your favourite studios and miss some gems. Luckily one store I use has a new releases section, where covers of differentstudios are placed intermingled. E.g., I discovered "Riot Sluts" there, which I wouldn't even have noticed otherwise.

It was for me, kind of a "keep your eyes open cause you never know what you might find" kind of thing, and in a lot of ways I keep that philosophy today.

I have a few studios and directors I do the same with. I use ADT, IAFD, and a few other sites to try and break down the best I can what I want and what I will pass on, I don't rent much anymore, but I buy a whole lot more.
To get to that point though, I just keep my eyes and ears open. I check out new reviews here, at Rog Reviews, CAVR, WCA and a few other places pretty often, read articles in a couple different mags, and on the web, and check out box covers and look for a girl, act or scene that might interest me. On top of that sometimes I just say "What the hell it might be good" and take a look at something completely different, I'm always on the lookout for a good porn feature too. Story can work.
In general, in my experience and with talking to others, I think if you keep open about what your willing to try and who your willing to watch, your more likely to find something really unexpectedly good. When you have watched porn for as long as I have, it is real easy to get in a repititious groove, and get a bit over critical of porn and nitpicky about this and that, but hey it's porn, it's supposed to be fun. I find gambling a bit, really keeps porn fresh and gives me that excitement I got all those years ago when I started watching it. I'm happy far more times than dissapointed. To each his/her own I guess.
Like monkey power, I still seek porn the old fashioned way. By scanning the shelves hard, looking to uncover titles which appeal to me specifically, and less reliant to lean on the words of reviewers. Between a couple stores I'll alternately visit, released each month is a selection that is vast, and almost neverending in supply.
Relying heavily on cover pics to determine quality of contents, has been a road of trial and error and plagued with deception. But on most covers, things such as explicitness,"Vivid"ness, star pairings, number of vag insertions vs anal, number of oral pops vs anal, unique positions, along with other elements of the director's creative intent, can accurately be decyphered through the cover pics. Although tricky, the covers can also reveal if its just more redundant grey matter that makes up 90% of porn. Its a method of legwork, and by no means foolproof, but after years of adapting to it, has become quite dependable.
As for directors, I'm more inclined to take note of those to avoid, rather than seek the work of. While they may add weight in deciding one title vs another, my view is that a director can only do so much with the talent of the cast. He or she may very well maximize upon it, but they'd better be able to part seas, when expecting them to draw wood, from a cast thats just flat out unappealing. The only director I might think exempt being Jean-Yves LeCastel, who on film has infact parted a veritable sea of ass, and almost always to a climactic symphony of wood winds.
Picking movies is pretty easy for me. First its the type of movie, has to be all girl 99.9% of the time (if its not all-girl then its even easier because it'll be something my girlfriend saw and said "get this one"). But besides being all-girl, see whose in it, what studio its coming from (love JKP and Studio-A and Ninn) who directed it (Andrew Blake, Ninn, Viv Thomas) and thats about it. Rarely pay attention to covers, they dont mean too much to me.
I mostly rent but will purchase if I'm obsessed with a particular actress. I can be hard to find these movies some times.
If I'm scanning the racks for me: 1) rating: It HAS to be hardcore. If it's been recommended by people on this board, won awards or reviewers I'm more likely to check it out. 2) talent: How many of my preferred or attractive actresses are in it. 3) genre: If it's anal, a2m, bondage, POV, Interactive or fetish I put it back down. 4) preview: Do the photos on the back look like it's well shot? 5) length: number of scenes and film length. 6) studio: I have some favourites 7) director: I'm not as savvy as some people on here but I know I'm not into Frank Thring, Michael Ninn or Andrew Blake. It's not a selection killer but it may discourage me.
If I'm looking for something to share with Mrs. oatmeal: 1) genre: features only. The wife is grossed out by anal and facials. If it's been recommended by people on this board, won awards or reviewers I'm more likely to check it out. 4) plot: what's that you say? Find an acceptable preface, sci-fi and Tolkien-esque stories get put back. 5) studio: She'd cringe if she watched any gonzo so that precludes about 75% of the studios out there. 6) director: Directors make a huge impact on features. Generally the better directors will receive awards so I never need to look at this. I would like to see some Viv Thomas some day. 7) preview: feature studios don't generally do horrible looking stuff.
I don't have any real method. It really depends if I'm looking for something in particular or not.
If I do, I'll often look around here and read reviews among the genre of DVDs I'm interested in. And then I'll go out and shop around, see if I can find it used or on sale.
If not, and am only looking through the shelves, well it's a whole other thing. Either I'm looking for something from studios I know and have bought before and have liked (like Kick Ass Pictures, which is usually around the same style with ever Andre Madness title) or will look for girls I know/like/or want to discover. If nothing like that seems too suitable, then I'll just randomly pick something in the sale/used section that may seem appealing.
This is roughly how it happens...I usually purchase DVDs so the choosing carries a certain monetary risk. Renting hasn’t been an option until relatively recently. I buy online. Covers don't interest me that much although if the copy on the cover is total crap, I am disinclined to buy. If we get something that my sweetheart enjoys I try to find similar material.
If I know or know of the director and like their approach, I'll usually buy their work.
Seek out, read and compare and cross reference reviews from reviewers whose views I trust here at ADT, freddyandeddy.com and a few others
See if anyone is writing anything interesting about it in the forums or elsewhere.
My sweetheart and I view trailers included on films purchased, we'll occasionally look for "stars" we like.

It is wise to invest some time in reading movie reviews, googling and watch trailers. Too often I've made the fault buying a video/DVD on its (back)cover alone. Playing the movie at home I found out the scenes on the cover cannot be found anywhere - unless it is an easter egg or something.
