Sure, all of the performers you named are pretty good in their own right, but come one, Lex has won multiple AVN male performer of the year awards and that definately counts for something. I honestly have never seen him have an overall bad scene with any performer he is matched with. Lex was the man from 2000-2002 when he was at anabolic, but recently I have to say his star is kind of fading. I think he's burning himself out from running his own company and it's reflecting in his performance. He's probably really busy behind the scenes and doesn't have enough time to stay fit. I'll give him credit, he's working hard and putting out decent product but he just doesn't have the supporting cast around him like he had at Anabolic and RLD/PXP right now. Guys like Steffano, Erik Everhard, Manuel and Steve can all fill in for each other while Lex is relying on guys like Zenza Raggi, who's good but just not on Lex's level. Lex's Pole Postion series has been good so far but aside from that he's been hit or miss. Give him some time to get more help and he'll get back his AVN Male Performer award.
What I enjoy the most about Lexington Steele is the female talent he surrounds myself with. I always know with Lex I'm see beautiful WOMEN -- not young, looking adolescent women.
I also share Lex's zeal and passion for shapely women and erotic outfits.
The man also swings a mean bat; and I hear he is a class act.

I haven't really followed Lex since he started Mercenary Pictures, but when he was freelance and working for the other studios (Ana/Dia,RLD,PXP) I thought he was one of the best "swordsmen" out there.
We don't tolerate those kind of hateful remarks. If you don't like a performer simply don't post in a thread about them and especially watch the language.
If I'm in the mood to watch women tackle a long poker there is no better man than Lex.
I don't know if he's the best or not. I don't think I haven't watched enough movies or paid enough attention to the men to have a credible opinion. I will say that I think he is one of the elite performers (along with Peter North, Mandingo, Julian and Rocco.)

Lex is a great guy and a nice performer but I think he's a little burnt out right now as his days of being great are behind him.
i dislike the sounds he makes. he often does this ridiculous howl when it's money shot time. and his on-camera demeanor can be grating, snickering at his own goofy jokes and such. i also find how he dresses up the girls in his own movies completely unappealing.
all that said, the man is hung like a cartoon and surely knows how to pork. his scene with Syren Smiles in Nasty Nymphos 29 still stands out in my overtaxed porn memory.
i remember reading an interview with him where he was asked how he deals with criticism. his reply was something like: "I make six figures having sex with beautiful women so who gives a fuck." can't argue with that.

All right. Time to put my opinion there. I ve worked with the four of them.
I can say one thing : if Marcus and Lex have a so strong ego that it is bothering people (and that honestly i didnt notica at all while working with them, they were both really nice and all), well if they do have it, they ve got a good reason to.
They both can keep their cock hard and FUCK, unlike some others. And i m not talking yet about their sex-appeal...i d work with them every day if only i could.
Lex still does a great job performing, problem is his movies over at Mercenary suck. His POV series is some of the worst POV stuff I've ever seen, terrible camera work. He also deosn't perform nearly as often as he used to. He should shoot movies like the Heavy Metal series he did for Rosebud or the Lex The Impaler series he did for Evil Angel. Lex in every scene with a hot white or asian girl.
From what I've seen the POV series has been stellar, don't let the botched pop shot from the Angel Dark scene in Volume 1 ruin the whole POV line for you.
Heavy Metal and Lex the Impaler weren't directed by Lex so he was hired strictly as a performer for those titles. Lex likes mix races of white/black male performers on women as a director and it turns a lot of people off especially black men. There is also speculation that Lex perfers to be in scenes with white guys so he stands out to be more of a star and his desire to shoot bigger girls also turns viewers away. His casts never even closely resemble the directors at RLD/PXP and that's what hurts him as a director more than anything.
As far as Lex having a big ego, I agree and I actually get a kick out of it. To be great in anything you have to have an ego, that's why Lex is considered great and Napier and Mandingo are not even considered decent(performers) in the world of porn.
I think Lex's arrogance stems from the fact that before porn he was never much so the porn sucess flew to his head. That's why he started insulting every fan who would dare write to him with casting suggestions.
Wall street broker? What wall streeter would leave that for porn? I remember him appearing in some low rent crappy Cesar videos in NY before the fans he insulted made him a star. That guys is just too much of a lose cannon to have been a broker.
He was the man 'back in the day' but now for me he lacks that cutting edge. I have huge respect for him and for the awards he's won - but as far as I'm concerned he's 'a has been' in terms of performing. I haven't seen a great scene starring him since Service Animals 1, Impaler 2, Up Your Ass 18 (and 19). Now they weren't made ages away but since then he seems to be 'holding back'. Not giving the girls 100% and being 'too gentle' (I hope that doesn't come across bad)
In terms of directing, I think he's a 'never will be'. I've given the movies he's directed a lot of time and found they were simply average. Just because he was a great performer back then, doesn't automatically make him a great director.
When you look at someone like Jean Yves Castel who's directing is/was class, and also now infront of the camera under Chris Clark he's still the main man for me (alongside Rocco). Now compare Jean Yves and Lex - they aren't even in the same ballpark. Heck - they aint even the same sport.
Interesting topic about ego. I think all male performers have a big ego. When a guy gets that much sex, they start to think the girls are there for them instead of being there to do a job. I'm sure it's not a job any man off the street could do, but many could if given the chance. They also shouldn't forget that the women are the stars and men are stunt dicks. That goes for Lex and anybody else. I've never been a fanboy of any male performer.

I like Lex. On top of being a good performer he's a great guy, I've actually had the chance to speak with him for around 30 minutes... The man had no clue who I was, but treated me with the utmost respect. If his ego is that big, it must have engulfed me so much I just couldn't see it.
And with that said, I can't wait to see his POV series. I like the idea of Lex doing that type of movie.
I do consider myself a total fan though, I have girls I'm a fan of and there are guys I'm fans of. You just can't put a Johnny Thrust and a Manuel Ferrara in the same boat....

Well what about guys who don't talk and can't fuck the girls all that well? Personally I'd rather watch a man with an 'ego', such as Lex, fuck a girl and know what he's doing than watch some of the lesser 'non-ego' guys do.
Although Lex isn't my favorite guy, on his worst day is better than a lot of guys - he's been doing it for a while and knows what he's doing. Regardless of the camera talking.

Only reason I can think is because without males in this biz, the biz dies or slows. On the other side of that coin, why should we have to put up with annoying female talent? I know I try to avoid Teri Weigel at all cost because of her annoying screaming - well the 3 movies I ever seen her in she was this was this way so if she's changed, I have no idea...

But finding 'stunt dicks' is a lot easier said than done. I can ramble off name after name of guys with regular wood problems in movies. My point being is reliable studs are not easy to come by - hence there are so little.

As for the big ego he's said to have, it's okay with me. Having a reliable performer with a slightly exaggerated opinion of himself ismuch better than having a modest, understated guy with wood problems.
