Has anyone seen this yet? I thought they had given up making porn but apparently there are a few more movies in the works, including "All About Anna". The director and leads have mainstream acting chops, so I have high hopes for this one. I like their mission statement, and well, this dude Marc Stevens looks HOT!!!
from their website: All About Anna, produced by Innocent Pictures in association with Zentropa, is a romantic comedy with explicit erotic scenes. It follows the Puzzy Power Manifesto developed by Zentropa in 1998, and is made by women, for women.
"All About Anna" is an attempt to create a new type of erotic film, based on real life rather than on the wish-fulfilling fantasies that characterize traditional sex movies. It portrays a type of woman with whom we all are familiar, fighting with problems most women know all too well. The film is also an attempt to integrate explicit sex as part of the storytelling and character development. Thus, the film's sex scenes never come out of nowhere but are part of defining the characters and their relationships, just as you'd expect from a song in a musical or a pas-de-deux in a Bournonville ballet. The sex scenes were carefully planned and rehearsed prior to shooting, allowing the actors to stay in character through every embrace and caress. Without the sex scenes, the film's drama would fall apart.
Anna is played by the Danish film and musical star Gry Bay. "All About Anna" marks the first time ever an established mainstream actress has chosen to star in an explicit erotic film. It also marks a culmination of the gradual slide towards use of explicit images in art house cinema which was initiated by Lars von Trier's Dogme-success "Idioterne".
Johan, the male lead in "All About Anna", is played by the English actor Mark Stevens who was born in Zimbabwe and, after graduating from Birmingham University, trained at The Birmingham Theatre School.
and here's an older AVN article...
COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Zentropa Enterprizes has become the world's first major mainstream film studio to get into the hardcore porn business.
The independent production company, founded in 1992 by acclaimed director Lars von Trier and producer Peter Ålbæk Jensen, is producing adult fare through their Innocent Pictures production company and its subdivisions HotMale (gay) and Puzzy Power.
"Von Trier has always been appreciative of sex, and crossing barriers, expanding the envelope in all sorts of ways," Executive Creative Producer and co-owner Nicolas Barbano told AVN. "It actually goes back to the late '70s, when he was at film school, and he wanted for his graduation project to film the Marquis de Sade's Philosophy in the Bedroom. Unfortunately the headmaster of the school nixed it..."
"Pink Prison" sounds really good, but isn't available in the US unfortunately. I suppose they couldn't get it distributed here for some reason, lol. Hopefully "All About Anna" will be... if not, I will just get a dvd player that handles pal format.
I found a few photos of Gry Bay taken at Cannes this year.
I got an email from the producer Nicolas Barbano who said they finished the film just two days ago. He also said that it's up to the various distributors when it is released in each territory. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a US release ;)
Maybe some places have had it up for pre-order. I don't know how long it's been in production, but I'm guessing longer than the typical two-day Porn Valley shoot.
Vodka, Nicolas turned me on to a site that has screenshots as well as video clips of the movie HotMen/CoolBoyz, and said it is due to be released in France on Oct.6th. Right now it is only avaliable in Denmark.
It might not be your cup of tea, but I've gotta admit it certainly looks.. interesting ;)
Blondie, any news on this? It's been a month, and I still can't find it anywhere, not to mention that innocentpictures site seems to be gone as well. I sent Barbano an e-mail, just in case.
That is really strange Zoid! I checked out the site just two days ago, and listened to a sound clip of the movie (which was in English), and now nothing. You might try zentropa.dk or filmbyen.com
Hopefully they are just down temporarily, but even www.allaboutanna.com is gone. Let me know if you hear from Nicolas, if not we might have to get ahold of Mr. von Trier, LOL.
I did receive a form newsletter from Innocent a couple of weeks ago, but it said nothing new really:
All about anna COMPLETED
It's our great pleasure to inform you that after more than two years of struggle we have now completely finished "All About Anna".
It can honestly be said that we have created an erotic film for women, which does not easily fit into any pre-existing category.
It is now up to the distributors to decide on release dates for the film in their respective territories - for updates you might want to visit our website www.allaboutanna.com from time to time.
Thanks to everyone who has supported and believed in this project!
Just did a quick search on Danish sites. Here Nicolas Barbano a month ago said pretty much the same thing as your newsletter. The movie is finished but the release date has not been set as they are still negotiating with interested distributors.
When the project was originally announced it got a segment in the news. I haven't heard anything about it since. But as I stay away from anything Zentropa or Trier related I could easily have missed any announcements.
It is kinda odd that there's been virtually no mention of it since. The head of Zentropa is usually pretty good at getting press coverage. If it gets into cinemas here, he'll no doubt get it on the news again.
According to Indigo Delta Productions, "The project was just recently completed and is in negotiations for rollout. I would presume early '05 release."
David Aaron Clark, the actor in this film is Mark Stevens not Marc Stevens, the NYC 70s adult star.
The discs look nice for this set although I'm disappointed that the included director's cut is a rough cut only. Only the producer's cut is the finished cut.
