I think producers took stupid pills and thought the fans didn't know what they want so they just made crap hoping it would sell. Sadly I think 2011 will be more of the same.
I have had a great year watching titles from Evil Angel,Elegant Angel and 21st Sextury etc..personally i thought 2010 was amazing,so many hot girls in porn these days that we the porn fans are never struggling for titles/genres to watch. Rambo, can i ask what labels you have been checking out,or perhaps you are a fan of early porn etc-or is it all down to Directors for you.

I think it's getting difficult for many studios to get decent funding for their projects and it shows. Look at Private and 21sextury for instance, they are but a shadow of their former selves.
I agree. Production is way down, Most big studios are using the filmic look (which btw is low quality crap), Parodies galore, some more favorite stars getting fake boobs, good companies like Diabolic and Redlight are on their last legs while other co's I enjoyed stopped production altogether, did I miss anything? There were some very good releases this year but those were few and far apart.
Hello Maybe, in the Bad things in Porn the number of my Fav Babes who opted for "surgical improvement" (I prefer Natural thanks) Studios making "Movies/Muzak/Condoms/ That Aint Porn its just Rubbish Companies like Intense, and 101010 Gameturf that churn out the same Plastic Barby Doll "models" faking their way through to a paycheck, signing more Barby Dolls to continue the production line I also noticed far more euro Starlets getting surgery(Of the cheap and really nasty totally fake looking boobs Tarra White and Aletta Ocean prime examples and silly tats by Silly they are large and in very badly chosen parts of the body(Actually any tat I can see in Mish is annoying,Tramp Stamp shoulder tat ok but ass cheeks, breasts, pubic area should be tattoo free
However on the Positive side Kacey Jordan did her first Anal(For a overpriced internet clips 4 sale site alas) Discovered Kasey Chase(us) Marry Queen(euro) Tanner Mayes,Natasha Nice,Hayden Winters,Lexi Belle,Little Caprice,LOLA aka DIDO Angel,Madison Parker, Nicole Ray ,Angelina Armani(pre contract) AVY Scott returned I know some of those I listed have been around longer but those are still my fav Performers Thanks
Comparing the starlets who performed their first anal in 2010 to those who took the "plunge" in 2009, I'd say the most recent edition was an improvement.

I find the parody trend awful. Let's face it - most porn performers couldn't act their way out of a paper bag. All in all, I think the parody trend proves that the well has run dry in the porn imagination.
There's too many to name. The reason why 2010 was the best year in history for lesbian porn is that besides the usual suspects (Viv Thomas, Girlfriends Films, Triangle Films, Sweetheart Video etc.) putting out excellent productions many of the big adult companies started to put out lesbian movies trying for the first time ever to cater to the real fans of lesbian erotica: Girl Crush & Lush by Elegant Angel/Club 59 Meow (Jenna Haze/Jules Jordan) The Interns (New Sensations) Babes Illustrated 19 (Metro) Next year even Digital Playground is gonna jump on the bandwagon and will release their first lesbian title in almost 10 years (and while I dislike everything DP does it's probably gonna be pretty good because they have an amazing cast and hired former Girlfriends Films director Kay Brandt). So what happens in mainstream porn with studios closing down or releasing fewer and fewer titles in the lesbian subgenre it's the exact opposite, even new studios keep appearing like Nightingale Productions. There have also been some bigger budget productions like River Rock Women's Prison by Triangle Films. I'm pretty sure I'm even overlooking some things but these developments show that this genre is thriving more than ever.
I agree with those that said that it was a very good year for lesbian porn. I think Girlfriends Films is the studio from which I bought the most dvd's this year and probably last year as well. Evbil would be second but much further down the line. I think that Evil Angel and Elegant Angel both offer excellent content but I'm gettinf tired of the gonzo style of the last few years. I know that getting a newbie to do anal and DP's is great but most scenes leave me cold.
My sentiments exactly, not only is the new crop strong as ever they are getting early scenes with excellent production values from hotbeds like Reality Kings, Brazzers, and Naughty America. I think in general that adult entertainment continues to improve every year, 20 years ago many scenes left me with the thought that they were not well lit or the camerawork could have been better. Now days the ones that are sub par stick out as opposed to years ago where they were the norm and the very good work was the rarety.
I'd be curious to find out what the percentage is for or against tattoos, I'm not talking about things like Dana Deamound has or tia Ling tat on her lower back. I'm talking about the full blown completely cover body art like Tricia Oats or Janine or things like that. From what I read on the board it's about 50/50.Then again all the other stuff people have been complaining about that producing still put in videos plus the economy has alot to do with it too.I stop buying or renting Adult DVD's because I kept seeing stuff I didn't like and usually fast forward thru alot of it.
He means that he thinks the quality is bad. That the video looks very compressed with poor quality. I don't really agree with that with those companies .... but that's what he means.
^Yes that's what I meant. The picture quality just looks off to me, especially when they pan and in fast motion shots. It's like they're missing some frames or something. I just expect better coming from those 2 co's.

Sorry you had a bad year. In my opinion it's been outstanding. A lot of the guys shooting are really stretching it out a bit. Look at the lineup of noms for the features... wow, all good works with plenty of production value. Some studios are still doing the raw hand held amateur looking porn, some are still doing solid gonzo and others are going truly cinematic... it's a good mix of diversity. Maybe better than ever.
[ quote] Production is way down, [/quote] There are two camps of thought on this one...and I'm in the camp that believes there should be less product flooding the market.
2010 was very depressing. I joined more paysites instead of buying DVD's. I mostly bought new Rodney Moore and movies from Sticky Video and some Jack Napier stuff. Evasive Angles, West Coast Productions, Hush Hush and Justin Slayer Productions didn't release a lot of titles which I liked enough to buy.
^But this means less quantity and quality. There will always be cheap crappy porn but when solid, popular directors are struggling to put out good stuff it sucks as a consumer. Now if you're saying some studios should make a small amount of really good movies instead of making a large amount of below average releases then I'm all for it. But, I just don't believe that is the case in most instances.
My predictions.... 2011 might be one of the worse years ever for the industry... With the continued rise of tube sites and bit torrent sites content quality will continue to drop. Studios are getting out of the production game and others are telling their independent directors to slash budgets so they can make money. Other big studios are pumping in cash just so it looks like they remain successful while actually they are bleeding cash. GoogleTV will be another nail in the coffin...Perhaps mobile porn might be able to put some money back into the companies pockets but overall I dont think 2011 will be even close to as good as 2010 was. To make DVD money in this climate a studio either as to one 1) put out really cheap product or 2) produce big budget movies. Mid level porn is pretty much gone. Online, it takes double the number of websites to make as much money as it did 3 years ago. People are leaving the industry by the truck load... Be ready for a wave of amateur porn to take over...
I have big hopes for 2011, but maybe that's just me. Regarding what Pornlaw said, to be realistic, how hard it is really to shut down tube/torrent sites or to get your content removed from such sites? How hard it is to sue whoever uploads the content? Wave of amateurporn? Ugh, I don't want to see bad quality pov clips.
The industry just lost a big lawsuit and the ruling fell into line with prior judgements that the courts will not rule in favor of broad copyright enforcment. Meaning you can post takedown notices and file individual lawsuits, but that is an endless and expensive battle. The tubers won't let it go as far as a lawsuit and just takedown the material and just start a new site.
I don't buy stuff when it's released. I wait for available rentals or cheap used prices. When I watch stuff I generally don't know or care when it was shot or released, but 2010 is the year when I finally became an online porn shopper and stopped being dependent on local store selections. Pretty good year for me. A wave of amateur pov sounds like a swell time. More bjs, less reverse cowgirl and piledriver.

I think 2010 was a bad year, no particular titles from America really caught my attention. Though Harmony based in the UK produced at least 3 decent films of note. Porn is going the way of the music industry due to the fact it can't handle the internet. We'll end up with buying just one good scene here and one good scene there and the rest will be mediocre churned out crap.
For me 2010 was a good year. I continue to get the best stuff for review, or at least a lot of it from Jules, Digital Playground, Elegant, Evil, Jenna Haze and some Vivid which pleasantly surprised me with The Condemned and Malice in Lalaland.
There's still some good stuff being made; it's just a much lower quantity (with porn production being way down for all of the various reasons). Most of the stuff that came out this past year from Jules Jordan, Evil Angel, & Elegant Angel was just as good as ever. As far as internet sites, Brazzers is about the only decent one out there; all the others have faded (Naughty America used to be good but they're just not getting many top-notch girls any more; mostly Grade B or C MILFs at this point). So, I guess I would agree that this was the worst year for porn since some time in the 90s. I would say the peak for great porn was probably about 5 years ago (a lot of hot girls doing nasty scenes & a lot more top-notch companies cranking out great scenes).
I mostly dropped out in 2010. Spent my small amount of porn time catching up on movies from the 1970s, minus a Elegant title here or there - oh, and Raw 2. I do want to see Malice and watch more of Nica Noelle's b/g work. I love the way she shoots her sex scenes. It's exciting to find someone making porn who wants to create the sort of thing I want to watch.
We all have a differnet perspective, but I to have to disagree there. Brazzers is excellent but so is Naughty America and Reality Kings. I'm amazed at how these sites keep finding this high quality young pussy and presenting it in well shot and directed scenes captured on state of the art 1080p HD digital equipment. This last years young crop was excellent that appeared on those sites, like Lily Carter, Liz Taylor, Ash Hollywood, Nicole Aniston, Katreena Lee, Mila Beth, Tasha Reign, Natalia Rogue, Alyssa Branch and Britney Beth, to mention just a few. I applaud these and other high quality websites, they are grooming these girls by highlighting them in these solid mini-productions and preparing them for full features if that's their desire.
I'm far from an expert and know hardly anything compared to some members of these forums. Here's a thought, though. Do you think that the 'golden age' of say 1999-2006 was so great that there is almost a hangover effect from that time? What I mean is that a lot of the best stars did 200-300 scenes each. That's so much material that there's almost no way to watch all the scenes of your favorite girls. This is what happened to me, at least. I hardly know any new porn stars. For me, a new-to-me scene from one of my favorite girls who retired 3 years ago is just as good as finding a quality scene produced in 2010 featuring a new porn star. In fact, what ends up happening is that I discover more retired porn stars from 2005 than new ones, because I am looking for DVDs with Lucy Thai or Miko Lee or whomever. So you get stuck on your old favorites, and since there's so much high quality material you can just keep watching them instead of finding new favorites. Edit: I just saw that Chodemaster made the same point as me in far fewer words, haha. Edited by - Fluffhead on 1/4/2011 12:37:49 PM
Of course Brazzers is doing well. They strangled their competition by pirating content on tubesites. I haven't watched their b/g, but Brazzers g/g is the low end of the market.
same here, i too enjoyed a lot of Evil Angel, Elegant Angel and 21st Sextury (asshole fever/dpfanatics) also in 2010 there was more 720p/1080p HD porn than ever as its becoming very standard now. really it just continues to get better as times go on as technology improves
One other major point I'd like to bring up as to why I think 2010 was a very good year for the viewer and it has nothing to do with fresh talent or great new DVD's releases, but the technology itself. The 1080p HD format can be edited and tinkered with by even the neophyte at home movie-maker to create a near virtual experience. The 1080p transfers and zooms with near original clarity with even simple to use editing programs like Windows Movie Maker. With an upgraded video card, 8G of Ram, and multiple monitors you can fashion your own multi-view sensaround experience. Not to get to far off topic, but as an example on a reverse cowboy scene you often get the actress in a frontal view for a portion then a portion in a back and ass view. You can clip and loop each of those separately and then make a third clip zoomed from the frontal on face and tits. Unless you have seen it, it is hard to describe the stimulating visual of Ashlynn Brooke simultaneously hard riding from two angles and a third screen zoomed on that beautiful face and bouncing breasts. For me at leat 2010 was a good year. P.S. Just noticed Drebin makes some of the same points on the blooming HD influence, but a lot of my points reamin relevant.
Personally I feel that despite the gradual collapse of the DVD market/studios, there is STILL so much quality porn produced (especially with the growth in HD download sites) that unless you have a very narrow fetish you can quite happilly whack off to a brand new scene every day of the year and still not have seen all there is. I'm into watching girls getting fucked in the ass - and there is more good stuff being produced now than I have time to physically watch. Every week there will be good new stuff from Evil Angel, Jules Jordan, Ass Titans, No Rest For The Ass, Elegant Angel, etc etc. How do you find time to whack off to it all? The industry might be suffering - but it's so bloated anyway I think it will take a long time before it impacts the average viewer. I certainly don't think that in 2011 all we'll be able to watch is poorly shot amatuer footage. The music industry said the same thing about the internet, and before that home cassette taping, and yet people are still making money in the music industry - just not from selling physical media.
