Seems next year we will have to search out deals for hotel rooms seen as the two conventions once again are overlapping thier dates. Unlike 2006, 2007 and 2008 when the CES was the beginning of the week and the AEE was the end of the week. Some can afford the high rates, but I am sure alot cannot afford to fork over $180+ a night for that weekend. Sucks really. But is business. I stayed Off Strip this year and commuted by shuttle, bus and cab to and from the AEE and The Strip.
Wish the two conventions would have broken the week up like they have in the past.

I believe eXXXotica Miami is first up in the spring. While I don't have any plans to attend that show, I do hope noahped comes out of his convention retirement to cover that event.
As for ELA and next year's AEE? I prefer to wait until a few months before the show. If enough girls I like are still active in the industry, I'll be there.

Check the rates in April like I did, heheh. Got 3 nights at Harrahs for $265 total. Like I said before, check the rates a couple of weeks before the show and you'll the the rates drop a little (might be best to have a "placeholder" hotel booked beforehand). I heard that even the rate for Wynn were down to $149 last week. It pays to rebook.

We ended up doing 4 nights at the Wynn for $660. So between me and the roomie, it was $330 a piece. Not too shabby. It ended up being pretty close to the show -- a quick run thru the Wynn mall, outside to the Sands bridge, and thru the Palazzo mall to the show.

They mark the price down because you have to put up with Steve Wynn constantly yapping away from the roof.
When he's not atop the Encore, of course.

That's not bad at all.
It was $480 at Casino Royale for a single King bed ... If I can swing the roomie thing next time, it would be more betta, I bet, at the Wynn ... although, all in all, CR was just fine for the 4 hours a night I spent there.

I'm referring to those annoying commercials for the Wynn and Encore, with Steve Wynn on the roof extolling the wonders of his own magnificence. Viva la Douche.
That said, I do love those Fountains of Bellagio.

One thing I really hated about the CES/AEE overlap was the passenger makeup of my flight home. It was a red-eye flight to Chicago on Sunday night. 98% of the passengers were CES attendees, and they would not shut the fuck up about all the seminars they attended.
Almost as annoying as flying out of LAX during the weekend after the Rose Bowl. Which I also did this year. Fucking Penn State fans.

I stayed over Sunday night this year and really had a great time hanging out with the aftershow crowd ... got a really GONZO interview with Kelly Stafford, among other things, and enjoyed a mellow Circle Bar cocktail-fest with various notables ... til about 3 a.m. I'd recommend it.

Next year, unless I can get a friend or two to go, I will have to pass on it. Too pricey for one person to go. Unless our Canadian Dollar gets to be on par with the US Dollar like in Fall/Winter 2007-2008.

My problem with the two shows overlapping is that I actually want to to go to CES, and I haven't been able to for a few years because the day before AEE, I'm too busy, and I can't leave the show floor for that long.
JennaRulez- Have you met some of the ADT posters? Maybe during the next year if you can't get a friend from the Great White North to come with you, you could bunk with an American ADTer. :)

I stayed at the Palazzo for the AEE and then moved to the Venetian for the Sunday for a few days. Apart from plumbing issues in both rooms and also spending an eternity in both rooms trying to get the dvd player going (to check out the porn freebies from AEE!), it was fine.
I don't mind the CES crowd - although they do add an uncomfortably pervy, sleazy and undesirable element to a good, clean, porn convention.

Tell you what. Because I'm such a nice guy and all, you can spend a few hours each day at CES 2010, while I fill in for you at the Evil Angel booth. I will keep the counters stocked with freebies and rubber bands, the girls supplied with food and beverage, and the fans neatly organized in distinct lines.
Then, when you return to the booth, I'll step into the green room and have a mini heart attack.
Seriously, you work your beautiful ass off at these shows, Tricia. We all appreciate what you do.
I'm not joking about the offer. Of course, I'd need an exhibitor badge...

^ LMAO.
Actually, if I didn't have Sarah Doom, I might take you up on that. This year, I got seriously sick, and not the "Vegas flu" that everyone seems to get.
I somehow managed to have a fever blister INSIDE my throat that started bleeding and hurt like f*ck. Lee Carver had to beg Sarah to make to go to urgent care, and actually, by the time Lee was leaving the convention on Friday, I was still at the booth, so he volunteered to take me.
Any other year, I would have never left the booth before closing, but Sarah totally had it together, and she knew the interview and signing schedules probably even better than me in my near-passed out state, so I agreed.
Thanks so much to Lee for hanging out with me and everything.
Every year, I think the Evil Angel staff does an even better job of how prepared we are for fans, and I was really proud of them this year. They even coped with me being sick and cranky.

CES is well worth it ... the high-end suites in the Venetian are amazing, But it helps to be into audio and know the scene a little bit ...
I got to hang out with Sarah some on Sunday night. She strikes me as the ultimate Gal Friday. Really on it.

Anime - I feel asleep in the waiting room at urgent care. Lee said I didn't snore too badly though. :/
And happy to hear Sarah had a smile on her face. We like to tease her about her "agressiveness".

I always here that some people get sick in Vegas when they go during the winter months. Being I live in a frigid climate in the winter, Toronto, where lately our temperatures have been a bonechilling -25C, not sure what that is in Farenheit. I end up with bad dry skin when in Vegas in winter. Also i find the water at the hotels to be 'hard water" and if I don't put any lotion on befor eheading out, the dry skin starts to hurt.
Anyhow back to the topic, why did the AEE organizers decide on the Sunday as a last day again? Personally I liked Saturday being the last day, with the fact not as many stars show up Sunday.
Sucks that the CES is overlapping the dates again, once again high hotel rates.
Downfall for me coming from Canada is, if you do not book your flight in advance, the closer to the date you do want to depart, the more expensive the flight gets. So a cheap $310 flight jumps to $500+. So waiting for the hotel rates to drop may be a good idea, but there is no flexible dates then for flights if I book ahead. Or I pay through the nose booking almost last minute.

I got severely rooted this year by booking and paying for some of my hotel rooms early - although I did tend to get some OK free upgrades on these early bookings. The worst part was that even the last minute specials I got for some nights were nullified by the poor exchange rate.
Money was a real issue for me this trip - next year I will try and organise my bookings and money a bit better, although the CES clash certainly doesn't help me. I may even aim for Erotica LA and/or Venus Berlin instead.

LMAO. That's awesome.
To explain to everyone else... before the convention, John told all of us that he wanted us to be as friendly to people as Disney World &quotmember" employees are to guests. We all got a good laugh out of that, but it did set a fun tone.

As a former cast member, I must point out that it takes a bit more than a smile to achieve the "Disney Look." Visible tats and piercings are a big no-no. They've relaxed their stance on mustaches, but beards are still forbidden.
And of course, you can't look or dress like a pornstar.

Cast-Member? In a movie? Or have you been working at Disneyworld? Sorry for being OT here but I instantly started imagining you running around in a Donald Duck costume...
Back on topic: Does anybody when the hotelrates might be the best? Some hotels don't even show their rates for next year yet so I was wondering what might be the best time to start looking for deals...

It may have just been a crazy year last year - but the best deals for hotels showed up in late November. $115pn for the Venetian at one point!!!

malte: I used to work at Walt Disney World, in what was then-called the Disney-MGM Studios. I worked a few of the attractions, as well as the parade (for Mulan at the time) and Fantasmic!
I'm too tall to be Donald Duck. In case you were wondering, you're too tall as well. I knew a couple Mickeys while I was there, all really cute and short chicks. No Donalds, though.

I had Imperial Palace booked as my standby, then switched my rezzy to Harrah's in late December. I totally missed that Venetian deal.
I never got the whole "won't spend much time in my room" philosophy. Even if I'm only in the room for a couple hours each day, I'd still rather spend that time in a nice place, as opposed to whatever's cheapest. I expect a certain level of luxury whenever I go to Vegas. That means the occasional expensive meal here and there. That leg of lamb at Bouchon was outstanding. I recently ate at Shibuya in MGM Grand, and that is highly recommended also.

Anime and malte-
John was just talking about the friendliness about the Disney resort and theme park employees.
Our wedding was at Walt Disney World, and we stayed there for a week. John was constantly amazed at how really friendly the employees (cast members) were. And he loved when I told him that they're called cast members - the aspect of being part of one huge production and entertainment experience.
That's what John wanted to convey to our staff members working the booth. Of course, it was the aspect of acting as friendly as a Disney employee while talking about our fantastic porn movies that most of us found fun.

I stayed at Gold Coast. 4 nights cost me $300 Canadian Funds. I'd stay there again for sure for that rate.
I stayed at MGM in January 2008 but because our Canadian Currency was at par with the US Currency. Now it costs us 30%. So luxury would be nice but it will cost me 30% more than those in the USA. I have to stay cheap when rates are high. Airfare is the bs for us Canadians. But currently the two airlines in Canada have some nice deals right now. $317 return to Vegas until April. Have not seen it that cheap since 2007.

Sarah its great to see you here on ADT. you were so nice the whole 4 days. Thanks for that in the craziness that is AEE it was always nice to see you smile and say hi everytime hope to see you next year in about
350 days, 16 hours, 1 minute and 52 seconds until Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 9:00:00 AM (Las Vegas time)
made my countdown clock to next year i am sick so sick lol lol
i am not getting a tax return this year (owe 4k). but i just got 2k that i loaned someone back in 2007. so i am going to pay some debts because i got tons of those. then putting 1k in a 6 month bond. i will have that to fall back on for my trip to Vegas in 2010. funny thing this year i did not know i was going up to about 3 weeks before. this year i have made the plan to go no mater what i enjoy AEE to much. as many people said this year never say never. plus i might be going back to Las Vegas in the next month or so to look for a new job i am so tired here in the northwest. so if i have a place or live there we have a party there for sure lol lol
plus if i have room any adt'er can stay any time
