When nominations come out, 15 performers will have been nominated. Who do you think will be this year's Best New Starlet? Here are my predicted nominees for this year's awards: Alex Grey Jo Jo Kiss Kimmy Granger Amara Romani Melissa Moore Tiffany Watson Holly Hendrix Anya Olsen Gina Valentina Lana Rhoades Leah Gotti Angel Smalls Sydney Cole Kristen Scott Elsa Jean It is always difficult in this category to know exactly who qualifies as Best New Starlet. Some of the performers above may have had their first scene prior to October 1, 2015. How does AVN decide who qualifies? As an example, Elsa Jean had about 20 scenes from July 2015-September 2015? WOW. Difficult category to predict a winner. Lana and Leah would have been contenders but they may no longer are in the industry. Personally, my favorite performer out of this group is Kimmy Granger so I would like to see her win. I also think that Holly Hendrix has a great shot at being named due to her gonzo showcase for Evil Angel.  [Link] |

There hasn't been a single performer who dominated the porn landscape this year in the same way as years past. They might give it to Adriana Chechik to make-up for her loss last year. Both Lana Rhoades and Leah Gotti have the popularity that would warrant serious consideration, but seeing how both have seemingly called it quits, I can't imagine they'd give the award to a girl who's no longer active. Actually, I guess Lana Rhoades intends to come back (judging by recent posts in her Star Crossed thread), but the way she "aired her dirty laundry" about Spiegler when she abruptly called it quits makes it very unlikely the voters would give her this award. And she seems to be well like among her peers and producers. She's not my favorite performer on the list (I'd probably put her behind Leah, Elsa, Angel Smalls, and maybe Melissa and Alex Grey), but I think outside of Leah and/or Lana coming back she has the highest profile out of all the likely nominees. And Stoya is no slouch popularity-wise. Edit: And that's ignoring that performance in and of itself is a fairly subjective thing, as one person's underacting is another person's "being realistic" and one person's overacting is another person's "really getting into the scene". Plus Kimmys connection and similarity to a celebrity like Hermione Granger/Emma Watson makes her also even more attractive and makes her stand out much more. I was just giving that as an example of how different ways of determining "popularity" can show different results. (Just for research purposes, I switched to "90 days" and we have Leah Gotti (48), Melissa Moore (52) and Anya Olsen (57) so it's still the same girls at the top.) I don't envy the job of the AVN voters. No matter who you choose, virtually everyone will be angry with you. And they will probably let you know how angry they are, over and over and over again. Hey, if we were considering girls now gone as "viable," I'd be pushing for Staci Carr #25 (as my cock can't see straight when she's onscreen)  Yeah, yeah... I can just hear the "too vanilla" guys now... One thing that Freeones rankings don't tell me, for example, is why people are looking for and rating particular girls the way they do? For example, Belle Knox is still ranked at #68 over the past year. I, for one, loved her. BUT, she was hardly the "most attractive," "best performer," "most scenes," "nastiest," "does IR" girl out there, that so many seem to feel is important. And, she's been gone for how long, now? Still #68. FYI, Erica Campbell -- retired since 2008 -- is Freeones #1 ranked Babe over the past year. This tells us what? From our OP list, relevant girls would seem to be: #14 Leah Gotti #15 Anya Olsen #26 Alex Grey #36 Elsa Jean The other girls from our OP list are not even in the Freeones "top 100" over the last year. One thing that is suggested to me is that, being around for the whole year seems to make a difference in the Freeones rankings. Girls that have been around a bit longer (ex: Kimmy Granger), have seen their interest wane a bit. Girls that didn't show up until later in 2016 (ex: Lana Rhoades), haven't built-up the numbers yet. So, considering the full last year seems to make a difference as far as Freeones rankings go. Let's take a moment to consider another important factor on Freeones: How much free stuff do particular girls have available to be seen by the fans? I'll bet this influences the statistics a great deal. [Link] |
