Nominations for the 2017 AVN Awards closed several days ago. The period covered is October 1, 2015 - September 30, 2016. When nominations come out, 15 performers will have been nominated. Who do you think will be this year's POTY? Here are my predicted nominees for this year's awards: AJ Applegate Abella Danger Megan Rain Adriana Chechik Riley Reid Keisha Grey Anikka Albrite Morgan Lee Aidra Fox Jillian Janson Abigail Mac Dahlia Sky Sara Luvv Dani Daniels August Ames My prediction for POTY will come from one of the following performers: AJ Applegate, Abella Danger, Adriana Chechik or Keisha Grey. If you forced me to pick just one, it would be AJ due to the numerous showcases she shot this year and the great reviews she got for those performances.
^ I love Peta but for the bulk of the year, she was limited to performing for Brazzers. For the same reason, I didn't think Eva Lovia or Aria Alexander will be a POTY nominee due to them solely performing for Digital Playground. For the 2016 AVN year, Asa Akira wasn't nominated for POTY even though she did a lot of work for Wicked that had quite a few great performances. I don't think being a contract girl leads to POTY recognition. Personal Opinion: To be a POTY, the performer needs to perform in a wide variety of genres (g/g, features and gonzo) for a wide variety of companies and be a great performer in all situations.
^ Haven't been able to see much of Vicki's content this year (Oct 2015-Sept 2016). She did a lot of work for Elegant Angel during that time period but I have not been a member due to the site's lack of consistent updates. What do you recommend? I can't believe it. Time flies. Her star showcase V for Vicki came out two years ago (Sept 2014). Well Deserved AVN win for the Jan 2015 Awards.

Is it just me, or do the people in the porn biz love Abella Danger more than the porn fans? When I watched last year's awards show in which she won Best New Starlet, I just got the sense that the hype surrounding her in that show exceeded her popularity amongst the fans. Plus, as an avid fan of Mason & HardX, I can't help but notice that despite a bunch of Abella Danger scenes this year, there never seemed to be that much interest or excitement generated with the release of each, especially for the showcase movie. Don't get me wrong, I like her and have enjoyed some of her work, but like I said, I get the sense that the biz loves her more than the fans.
^^ The actual nominees will be announced in mid-November. The list of names was my prediction of who is likely to be nominated. I seriously considered Ashley Adams but I haven't seen much of her work over the past few months so I didn't include her in my list.

If you saw some of her scenes from earlier this year, you would have included her! Her Surge Rates scene is the best of 2016 imo. She's been on a hiatus since July, but she has been shooting a ton of new scenes which will be due out soon. She had plenty of great scenes from January through July. You should check out her Surge Rates scene, it's via Pretty Dirty.

So in your scenario, she works every day just because she's popular with industry people, and not because she makes those people lots of money?
To me, it SHOULD be Luna Star but it will be Abella Danger... Abella deserves it. She worked her ass off this year and gave max effort 100% of those scenes.

As someone that only watches g/g, I don't think I'm qualified to have an opinion on overall POTY without seeing half of the content a lot of girls shoot. But, I do think to win POTY, one has to be well rounded in all aspects of porn. For those that only watch b/g, I'd say of the performers that do both b/g & g/g, AJ Applegate, Cassidy Klein, Adriana Chechik, Abella Danger, and Abigail Mac have had the strongest years of g/g. Feel free to use that in forming your opinion for POTY xoxo.

I'm not saying there's no interest for her, I'm just saying that it seems like they (the industry people) are trying to make her out to be porn's new "it" girl and a superstar, but yet it doesn't quite seem like she's got that mass appeal amongst porn fans.

Well since the AVN awards are all rigged, I'm sure it's gonna be a Spiegler girl. IMO it should be Adriana Chechik, she should have won last year to be honest.
Adriana is awesome and will definitely be high on anyone's list. Abella Danger as well was flat out awesome all year so it might be between those two for me.
Mass Facialties: I agree with you on Abella, I get the same impression but I can't quite explain it. I like her performances usually, I liked the HardX showcase & other things I've seen but still, I think I understand where you're coming from. Morgan Lee would be my preferred choice but it's tough competition.
Totally agree with this actually, esp Cassidy Klein and Abigail Mac, though I remain partial to Morgan Lee for this award.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Morgan Lee (I'd go so far as to say she's probably my second-favorite pornstar today), but I don't think she's got much of a chance at winning this award. If you're going by her performances and the scenes she's done, she's certainly worthy of consideration, but I just don't see her as being popular enough to win the award. If you ask me, AJ Applegate and Keisha Grey both have the right mix of popularity, performance quality and scenes (both quantity and types of) to win the award. Admittedly, this is a somewhat biased opinion-AJ's my favorite pornstar today and Keisha isn't far behind on the list.
This forum love Adriana Chechik, I personally find her performances OTT. I do however love Abella Danger. I think she's gonna win. I've spent most of the year watching the new girls though, they interest me more.
It is a tough choice because many of these girls deserve to win the title if not all. But from all I would support Keisha Grey. Besides the fact she is drop dead beautiful possessing one of the sexiest bodies in the industry, She brings genuine sexual energy in every scene no matter with whom she is paired with, she has big repertoire of sexual activities (from lesbian to erotic and from DP to GB) on screen and she continues to expand them (recently went kinky) without losing her sexual identity. The most important is though, comparing to many others is that Keisha didn't flash one certain period or another during the year, she was steadily active ALL through out the year. Plus, she is very active in social media and she never forgets to visit her numerous fans in her own ADT thread.

This is the official nominations list I assume? I would like to see a new winner every year.Annika and Riley have already and deservedly won the award in recent years. I think the likes of Aj Applegate,Aidra Fox and Megan Rain would be good new choices for this year imo.But there will be tough decisions for the judges either way as there are many deserving candidates on the list and especially Riley Reid is still on the list.
I really think this will be August Ames' year, she really broke out to be a top performer by the end of 2015 and in 2016 she continued to do phenomenal scenes, being named the 2nd ever Vixen Angel for September 2016 as well as the Twistys Treat of the Year. She's worked hard this past year and it'd definitely be nice to see her win.
^ I disagree. If a particular performer is killing it for two or even three years in a row, they should be entitled to their due. It's not a participation trophy.
Cool to see Chanell Heart get nominated, it would be nice if she worked enough to have a legitimate chance at winning. I think it might be between Keisha, AJ and Megan.
