Darth--check accessories in electronics category. This should qualify. You could get cdr's, jewel cases or batteries or something, I'd think, for around 10 bucks. It would be like getting them free anyway.
You can get 12packs of Sanyo alkaline batteries for 3.99 ea. Get 3 packs, some AA & some AAA.
***I just thought of something, you could buy the extended warranty. That should count,

Darth--go to area450 & click the link for the $10 1st. Then at buy.com add the $19.95 replacement warranty. For a net of $100 you'll have the player plus an extra 12 month warranty.

I think there is something up with this site. I registered and I got the invoice over $100.00 and I added the coupon. Everything was working. Then when I try to check out the items they keep putting me back to the order page. The order will not go through. I tried to send it through about ten times. I will try again in the afternoon.
Menace thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it. If this order ever goes through, I will feel good about my purchase. I also got a free dvd for the same price that I would have paid on ebay.
Now I have to put my sony up for bid on ebay. Anybody want it?

Darth, maybe the dvd does not qualify as an electronics purchase? Think about the other choices I mentioned.
I could not find anything at buy.com on Sampo's manufacturer warranty so I looked at Sampo's website. It says all dvd players carry full 1 year (Parts and Labor), very impressive. Most dvd players only give you 90 days labor & 12 month parts. The buy.com replacement warranty takes over after 1 year then. If it goes bad & they can't fix it, they will give you a store credit for your full purchase price.
I'm not a moderator I don't every post, word for word, I do skim through all the replies.
I was just giving aybesea some info that even I wasn't sure of. I didn't think that the DVD would work, so when I tried it, it worked, I just reported that it worked, is all.
My bad for skimming over your post and not seeing that.

menace you were right. I could not order the dvd as part of the electronics section. I just deleted the dvd and replaced it with a set of headphones. I finally made the order. Soon I will be a proud owner of the sampo 612. It will be nice to watch my Red Light District dvds without them freezing up all the time.
I would like to thank the following for all your help. Menace, planet sex, gaysatyr,Bill Broderick, Big Mike
If it weren't for you guys I probably would have got a dvd player that doesn't perform to the level of the sampo. Anyone want to buy a Sony DVD player?

I would just like to say that I got the Sampo and it works great! It plays my Red Light District and anything else that I put in flawessly. I would like to thank Menace, and everyone else that assisted me in buying the player. I would reccomend the Sampo to anyone. Especially anyone who watches porn.

Hey Darth, I was just thinking about this very thing. I saw that you posted & I was going to ask you about it. I'm envious. If you don't have any PAL discs why don't you borrow one & see how it works? In fact, if you get into PAL, I have a few that are good, but not exactly what I was looking for. I'd sell them for say $10 each plus postage. I paid around $17 for them. Only viewed once or twice. I have the artwork but no box, I'd put the discs in mini jewel cases & send with the artwork. The titles are Das Beste aus Playteens (from AVN-Dutch) & Sperma in die Fresse & Junge Stuten (both Maximum Perversum, German label).
So menace, thus far do you think it is worth it having PAL capability? Is the stuff that's out there that's not NTSC/1 compliant worth the purchase of another player?
I wonder because I've considered doing this. But I already own (or have owned) 5 DVD players! I'm starting to think I'm a fruitcake when I consider yet another player purchase. So before I do, I wanna be darned sure that it is worth the price of admission. And seeing as that you and I seem to share quite a few common tastes in euro porn, I can't think of a better person to ask!
I've been trying to decide between an Apex and a Sampo, but can't make up my mind. I notice that the Sampos have a feature that lets you zoom (enlarge) the screen. Hey that might be pretty cool for porn. Any Sampo owners want to give an opinion on that unique feature?
No you are not nuts. I have been thinking the same thing myself. While a lot of movies come out in NTSC before PAL a lot of TV shows are out a lot sooner in PAL (ie Buffy season 4 and maybe 5 are already out) and kind of tired of having to watch them on my computer.

aybe, I only had 1 player (A Toshiba 5 disc). I wanted a cheap second player for a back up-so I figured it might as well be able to play PAL. At least that's how I rationalized the decision to myself. The Apex's are really inexpensive-about the cost of 3 good dvd's, & the Sampo, like the one Darth got, is not that much more. I think it's worth it. With Walmart's 90 day return policy you could get an inexpensive Apex & have a good trial period to see if you think it's worthwhile.
As for the Euro porn, I'm still floundering around. I tried one GGG to see what all the fuss was about. Was disappointed at 1st, but now it's starting to grow on me. I think I'll just get the Sperm Overdose titles from Hustler, which are much cheaper than the GGG from Germany & that'll be it for GGG. Plenty of other good stuff, though. And it's fun looking for them. The main thing for me is seeing babes I've never seen before. And like Lee said, you can often get a lot of mainstream stuff like tv series much sooner in PAL.

Menace, thanks for the offer but I have so many DVDs right now I don't know what to do with them.
Something I've never figured out, is how customs knows which packages to inspect, or maybe all packages are opened??? I really have no idea.
I do wish however, that customs would ignore movies with adult performers, no matter how twisted the content (well almost), and concentrate all their resources on catching pedophiles instead.
