hello folks! I'm considering building a website and wanted to gauge interest.
Kickstarter has changed the game when it comes to users putting their dollars where their interests lie, and helping create companies and/or projects out of nothing. Their terms prevent pornographic material however, which is a shame, though I can understand where they're coming from.
What I'm considering is something like a kickstarter for adult entertainment. Features would include easy connections to the stars, simple voting and suggestions on collaborations between stars, what types of shoots would be interesting to the audience, and more. There's no reason, in my opinion, I shouldn't be able to say "hell yea I'd chip in $10 to see James Deen work with Carli Banks". I mean, we all do that anyway in our minds, but don't have a way of actually showing these stars there's real money behind it.
More to say, but I wanted to gauge interest first: if there was an adult project oriented kickstarter, would you be interested? If so, what would be your concerns and biggest questions?
Thanks for the thoughts!

There's no way this would work in my opinion. What are you going to do, have the goal as the hire fees for each performer? Let's say the fee for male and female talent is $200 each. That's 40 people you need to do a simple b/g scene if they each pledge $10. But when you can join a website network for about $30 for one month, and get access to hundreds of scenes, why would they even bother spending a third of that for one scene?
There's also an issue with no-lists, people flaking...never gonna happen.

Because it's a scene you want to see. It's the performers you want to back, the type of scene you're really looking forward to seeing, and more.
Why do people pay for porn at all these days? There's so much free content out there...and yet people do pay for it because it's closer to what they want, and it's worth the money to them. This is just an evolution of that in my mind.
Totally, this is definitely not some easy thing. But those same issues happen now regardless, it's just part of life.
My biggest question right now is not "is this easy or likely to happen", but "if i could figure this all out...would you be interested?"

^ Personally, I wouldn't unless it were something really big.
I just read that Remy LaCroix seems to have come out of retirement to do a GG scene. I probably would have chipped in $10 for a second Remy DVD shot with Mason.
I would invest if Jenna Haze were to come out of retirement to make Darkside 2, or if Stoya, Kayden Kross, and Riley Steele were to do a feature with Elegant Angel. But so much porn gets made anyway, that I don't need to invest before seeing the reviews.

Thanks for the feedback! I imagine this will be a likely answer, and that's ok. I wouldn't imagine this being (at least to start) something that creates just more scenes and typical pairings that you already see. Following what you said, I bet there would be a lot of curious $ to see Heather from IDT do a one time scene today.

The problem is that the people who are most likely to actually participate in something like this are also the most fuzzy about sometimes tiny details of the scene (stockings yes/no, shoes on/off, etc. etc.), to say nothing of larger issues like choice of male talent. IMO, you're not going to get a broad enough coalition unless the "project" outline is extremely generic as in ^'s "another Jenna Haze Darkside movie", and that's the type of project that's probably going to get done anyway if the protagonists were up for it.

One other bit I'm finding interesting: there are SO many "girls I'd love to see do X", "guys I'd want to do X with", etc.
Now, maybe this is all under the umbrella of "and I'd never pay for it", but with the scale of the internet, throwing a $1 at a concept can add up quickly, and it certainly seems like the desire is there. Am I wrong?

I see, so it may be the more specific fetishists who'd really like this...but lots of details and potential disagreement etc comes with it? Couldn't it be as simple as "$5 gets you private access to the result, $50 gives you ability to name one aspect that will be followed by the director, $500 gets you the right to show up on set and watch". Dunno, seems like it could work.
Again, there are SO many reasons why this won't work or be challenging, but the only completely insurmountable one is if no one cares or wants to spend $...and we all know this is still a hugely profitable industry, so there's definitely money out there...I think people just don't want to spend it the same way they used to.
Thanks very much for the reply, appreciate the insight.
