Empire Rental Rewards is a customer loyalty program that gives permanent subscription discounts to members based on how long they’ve used the rental program. “There are lots of places to rent adult DVDs out there,” said Mike Barry, Director of Adult Operations at the Empire. “We wanted to make sure we were offering customers more than just the best possible service available – we also wanted to offer the best possible deal on rental subscriptions.” Here’s how it works: As a Empire Rental Customer, a permanent discount will be automatically applied to your account based on how many consecutive months you have been a member of the rental program. After you have completed: You will receive: 3 consecutive months of membership 5% discount towards future membership fees 6 consecutive months of membership 10% discount towards future membership fees 12 consecutive months of membership 15% discount towards future membership fees The discounts are permanent and are automatically applied to customers’ accounts, so there’s no special program to sign up for. The only restriction is that you must complete consecutive months of membership to qualify for the 3, 6 or 12-month discounts. Once someone cancels their rental account they will have to start from scratch if they choose to sign up again. I wonder why a retailer would come up with a "customer loyalty" incentive a few months into their service, after not thinking they needed one when they launched? Could it be that they're getting TONS of quick cancellations because people are dissatisfied with their service? Perhaps attacking the cause (service) rather than the symptoms (people quitting) would be the answer... [Link]
