They have taken it upon themselves to deactivate accounts without prior warning or explanation, which I find just a tad bit unnerving to say the least. Luckily I have only been selling on the site so they have deemed it ok for me to stay - I assume as long as I just keep selling. After further pressing they did provide me with a brief explanation below: "The laws in Texas haven't changed, but John Ashcroft, who is engaged in a crusade against porn to satisfy his political base, has decided that the easiest way to prosecute adult retailers is to have adult DVDs shipped to locales in the country with very strict anti-obscenity standards on the books. That way they can prosecute according to the strictest community standards using the most conservative juries in the country. We really hate having to restrict our customers like this, but we've had many sellers worried about getting prosecuted, especially in this current politically charged environment." My concern is, whether these anti-obscenity laws which seem to address the mailing of adult material, may actually apply to me shipping out of state as well. Or do the laws only apply to the addressee?

I just emailed them to let them know I'm moving so they won't deavtivate my account. Go-go gadget porn killer. Ashcroft is a joke. A joke with power . Regards, So, it looks like people in TX, with a zip code between 75000-79999(which may be the entire state, I don't know) will not be able to order through ADM anymore. So they may be the ones applying the pressure as I can't see why individuals sending out a dvd here and there would be too overly concerned especially if they package right. And it looks like El Paso is not covered by the ban so... go figure. [Link] |

This seems to be true for most sellers on ADM who also have their own sites. this is a bit off topic, but it's just another reason why it's sad that ADM has to deny service to some because of ASSCROFT.
