^Then I'll make myself unpopular with you now cause I have to confess that I'm more the visual type and having just seen the new JJV trailer, I need to blow off some steam.
I know that criticism on ADT quickly leads to bans, but I want to take the risk and write down my thoughts - It is incomprehensible to me why Jules Jordan shoots this scene like this.
I haven't seen the Alexis X Dredd scenes. But they created plenty of buzz, were apparently successful and were well received by fans/consumers. Mainly because they were happy to see something fresh, something new, something exciting with AT. A reinvention, so to speak. Jules Jordan would have the opportunity to say - I'll top that, I'll make an even more epic scene. I'm bringing two of the biggest stars of the last 20 years together "Alexis Texas vs Lex Steele". He also could have said, let's take the legend Alexis Texas and put her in a scene with one of the rising young stars - Damion Dayski.
But Jules Jordan says - "No, no, no, we're going 20 steps back, we're doing the same old routine we've been doing for 15 years and the world wants to see Jules Jordan. After two Dredd scenes, the world wants to see me in that scene again". Jules Jordan (next to Zac Wilde) is the last person who would fit into such a scene IMO (I am a visual guy). All his scenes with AT have shown that his tool doesn't match this massive booty.
Many of us have been waiting since the day AT stepped into the spotlight for a clash with Lex or any of the other great black ( and white) male talents of recent years (shame Sean Michaels stepped down)...and Jordan says - me, me, me...they all want to see me. It's just a shame that he puts his ego in front of such a great opportunity.
If enough JJ white knights show up, this could be my last post here after almost 15 years. Still, I had to vent and express my disbelief as to how such a business decision can be made. To forgo a potential scene of the decade because he takes himself too important and keeps the scene small....in many respects.
That's just my opinion. I'm not saying it's better than anyone else's. I'm just very disappointed myself.
^ I'm not going to tackle anything else you said, except the claim that the Alexis and Dredd scenes were "well received". They were certainly successful, but they were always going to be with Alexis doing her first IR scene after almost 20 years of waiting and that too with the biggest dick in the industry. They weren't well received though, they got a lot of hate. If you're a visual viewer, then you'd hate those scenes. They're a visual nightmare with obnoxious close ups that prevents us from getting a good look at Alexis' body and face and long stretches where you see more of Dredd than you do her. There's literally a five minute stretch where all you can see is his ass. Worse still for someone like me, there was very little chemistry and Alexis seemed to be going through the motions. Compare those scenes to her scenes from years gone by with guys like Mr. Pete for actual companies that were professionally shot or even the very next scene she shot after the Dredd scenes, the one with Johnny Sins, and it's night and day. I know people on here like to defend those Dredd scenes for some reason, but it is what it is.
The MILF scene he did with Nina Hartley is killer. Mr Pete is starstruck by Nina and treats her like a legend, and this rubs off between them. She puts her tongue under his foreskin and he later makes her squirt which she states "that hasn't happened before".
Back on topic. What was good about Alexis, especially in her prime years is that she was acclaimed without having to do "extreme" acts. Such as rough gangbangs/blowbangs, spitting, choking, squirting, puking, fisting. She carried it with her great ass by performing standard gonzo and vanilla scenes. Most of the performers today do all or some of the acts I listed above to get enough exposure. Even Angela White, though she got big before she did the gangbangs/blowbangs.
^ Initially Alexis started to get a lot of attention because her look was absolutely incredible. Of course her ass is magnificent and I understand why it gets so focused on, but she also had one of the most beautiful faces I've ever seen. Seriously, her eyes were breathtaking and those tits! Perfectly perky. Those long legs too, she was pretty much perfect from head to toe. Her performances for the first year or so were mostly kinda mediocre though (I would say her performances massively improved after working with the great Belladonna on Discovering Alexis Texas at the end of 2007), it definitely took her time to get fully comfortable in front of the camera. Once she did though, it was obvious how much she was enjoying herself. She also developed great screen presence and had a very charismatic energy in her scenes (one of the best dirty talkers ever), which drew people in and made her scenes very fun to watch. People could tell she was someone that was only doing things she wanted to and genuinely enjoyed, so there was never a massive demand for her to get super hardcore because she was so great at the things she was already willingly doing and the star power she generated from all of that carried her all through the years until today. She never needed to do anything crazy or anything she didn't want to because she was having so much success sticking to doing things she was comfortable with. Of course, it didn't take long for the controversy around her not doing IR to start (there's a thread on here on the topic from 2009), but that's a different matter. I'll watch the Nina Hartley scene with Mr. Pete because it's not one I've seen yet, but I'm glad to see someone else that appreciates male performers that actually seem like they enjoy having sex with the women they're working with and care about making them feel good.
^^ I know this is technically off topic, but that Nina Hartley/Mr. Pete scene was fantastic! So much chemistry between the two and there were so many moments where Nina seemed genuinely impressed by Mr. Pete and his sexual techniques. Had to have felt good for Pete to have a legend like Nina gushing over him like that lol, especially being so young at the time. He was only 27 in that scene.
Since Mr. Pete got mentioned in this thread I think it bears mentioning that for all the good work he did in front of the camera he also acquired a reputation for abuse. Alexis has never, afaik, come forward with any allegations against him. However Summer Brielle was very vocal about him being a domestic abuser. I think there were others, but it's been a while and my memory is reserved for happier things. But people stated they didn't understand the hate, and the allegations are part of the reason. He also makes weird noises sometimes, but I'm sure I'd make worse noises than that if I were getting blown by some of these ladies. Afaik Alexis never did give any reason for leaving him. So take that for what it's worth.
^ I was aware of the allegations Summer Brielle made against Mr. Pete, but afaik she's the only one that has ever made those kinds of allegations against him. Of course he vehemently denied all of the allegations, but I guess he would. It's all speculative at the end of the day, no one knows what really happened. He also had a messy public break up with a content creator he was dating called Wednesday Nyte (who has since died of a drug overdose unfortunately), but there were no allegations of abuse made as far as I'm aware. You say Alexis never gave any reasons for why she left him, but I actually mentioned interviews where she hinted at certain things and she never hinted towards him being an abuser. Make of that what you will.
Yes, but there are a few pornstars today with nice faces doing extreme acts. Tina Kay, Gia Derza are examples. Would they have gotten big in the industry if they didn't do them yet? Who knows.
And Alexis started bad when she entered in 2006. But around late 2007 she began getting exposure and her career skyrocketed 2008 onwards. The content she did from 2007 - 2012 is breathtaking viewing with replay value. Especially the movies she did with Mason.
^ Yeah, I'm glad you said that because I've always thought late 2007-2012 is definitely Alexis' peak for various reasons. I also agree that the movies she made with Mason are the best stuff she ever did. Those first three Buttwoman movies, Alexis Texas is Buttwoman (2008), Buttwoman Returns (2009) and Buttwoman vs Slutwoman (2010 with her best friend at the time Kristina rose in the role of slutwoman) are three of the best gonzo movies ever. Her scenes from that 4-5 year period are timeless.

With all due respect, the Golden Era (let's say 2006-2012) produced many, many stars who became real stars even without these more extreme acts. These are more of a present-day phenomenon anyway. So I don't want to create a tier list, but I wouldn't want to put Tori Black or Kristina Rose below AT.
And personally, I would say it wasn't the time that made these girls stars, the sex or their look. For me, the mother of success was - Mason.
^ Mason is probably the best gonzo director ever and I find it funny and ironic that a woman was the best at the genre of porn that is most tailored to men's tastes. I do think the time you specified (2006-12, which again, I 100% agree is the golden era of porn) has something do with the success of all the girls back then too. Apart from Mason, there were so many other directors and porn companies still producing great gonzo porn back then. Evil Angel, Ztod, Red Light, Voyeur Media, New Sensations, Robby D at Digital Playground etc. There was more of a focus put on chemistry and authenticity, two things lacking in porn today, rather than extreme circus acts. The porn of today is of extremes. It's either really hardcore or really glossy and manufactured (ala VMG or Brazzers), there's no in between. Alexis, Kristina and Tori were all great in their own ways and I wouldn't put any of them above one another. They were three of the biggest stars of that golden era for a reason. I have a personal preference for Alexis because I think she was hotter, but that's subjective.

Like InstantClassic I'm not a big fan of JJ as a performer, although for different reasons but damn she looks good and JJ does know how to shoot a scene.
As others have discussed, her best work was with Mason so it would be great if they shot together again.
Manuel also directed some very good scenes with her.
I know they have both said they consider each orher too good of friends to shoot a scene together anymore but hopefully we can at least get a Manuel directed scene or two. A Manuel/Alexis reunion in a sex scene would be volcanic.

In general I found Mr. Pete usually merely adequete in his scenes but when he vibed with certain performers he couls be very good. In addition to the aforementioned Nina scene he was also very good in scenes with Sasha Grey, ironic as I recall she put him down a bit in an interview, and certain girls like Felicia Clover.
Perhaps not surprisingly considering he ended up in a relationship with a performer famous for her superb ass, he often performed best with bubble butt and big butt women, including black women.
^^ You can blame Mr. Pete for Alexis and Manuel friend-zoning each other, lol. They became such good friends because Manuel and Pete are also really good friends, so they started to spend a lot of time around each other because of that. It's a shame because Alexis and Manuel only ever did scenes together during the first few months of her career in 2007. She was still brand new and wasn't yet the incredible performer she would become, it would've been great to see them do scenes a little later in Alexis' career once she became fully comfortable in front of the camera. With that said, the three scenes they did together are still pretty good because, as you might expect, Manuel was one of the few guys early in Alexis' career that was able to make her come out of her shell and let go during scenes. Unfortunately I think it's highly unlikely we'll ever see them do a scene with each other again.
Well I think performers can only be as good as their scene partner allows them to be, so it makes sense that Pete's scenes were lacking if he and the girl didn't have chemistry. That's true of every performer though, even guys like Manuel. Both Pete and Manuel are great performers though and in most scenes I've watched of the two, they did seem to have chemistry with the girl. You say Pete worked best with big ass women, but I actually think he did some of his best work with Andy San Dimas. They did a great scene for Livegonzo.

It's really interesting how different consumer habits, talent and combinations value. Especially with bigger body types or big butts, talents like Jordan, Pete or Wilde look completely out of place to me as a visual viewer. It's like playing "Where's Waldo". As if the girl would swallow the guy....and I don't mean that in the oral sense. In the 2010s I liked Kelly Divine and she did some scenes with Mick Blue, who I think is a very good talent. But even he reached his limits and seemed almost lost.
My (porn) dream had always been Mason, Alexis Texas and Lex in an anal scene. I think that would look so epic visually with her bubble butt bouncing up and down in the cowgirl positions on Lex's massive tool. Never gonna happen, I know....but maybe AI will help at some point.

When the rumors with Dredd came up and it was also about anal, I actually took the bait. I actually believed it. Well, obviously the rumors were misleading. And it has been proven that she doesn't want to do an anal scene with the big boys. So I don't think there will be a any (good) anal scene anymore. It is what it is...and personally I have zero interest in another scene with Jordan.
