Hello all
Although I'd guess that this happens less often nowadays, it used to be the case that once in a while an amazing new girl would decide to enter the biz, but would only shoot b/g with her boyfriend (also a newbie to the industry).
Hypothetically, if a couple like that shows up for their first shoot but the guy can't perform, what options are usually open to the director? After all, it is his/her time and money wasted.
I have read about situations where a stud is brought in, if the actress can be convinced under the circumstances to go in that direction (i.e. if the couple really needs the cash, and she decides to go for it anyway). In that case, how does the director deal with the girl's boyfriend, if that girl does opt to shoot with someone else? Is the stud brought in there and then, or do they reschedule?
When the couple initially meets with the director/agent and signs up for the shoot, is there ever a contractual stipulation that she agree to shoot with a third party, in the event that the boyfriend is unable to perform on the day?
I know I have touched on this in a prior thread, but the topic has really captured my interest. Any thoughts (particularly from directors out there)?
Cheers

If you're filming amateur couples, I don't think substituting another guy really works. Having wood problems is easily the most common problem I've encountered. It just goes with the territory. The number of shoots that took WAY too long because the BF or husband had problems performing, FAR outnumber the shoots that go easily. It's one of the things I try to screen for up front. Still, making the guy feel comfortable and getting the couple to work together during those times in the shoot where his dick just doesn't want to cooperate, is just part of the job. I've never looked to substitute another guy, and I've never not completed a scene - sometimes they just take WAY too long. One couple actually left, went and had dinner, and came back and had a happy ending. Getting it up is one problem, getting it off is another. Both are a problem. I did have one couple where after a long wait without any improvement, I stopped the shoot and offered to pay the GF and not the BF - it must have worked, because he got it up and off in less than a minute and we caught it on tape. Porn is much harder for the guys than the girls.

It's super common. Our experience has been the same as Rod's - the 'long shoots' far out number the 'easy shoots'.
Our solution is that if an amateur girl will only work with her boyfriend / husband, then they are hired as a 'Couple' with the stipulation and understaning that if we don't have a 'finished scene' by the end of the shoot, neither of them get paid. We put a reasonable time limit on the shoot, because a few of them have gotten out of hand, running 7 - 8 hours. If we book a couple for say 4 hours, if we don't get a finished scene, they don't get paid, because as a studio, we take a loss on the crew, location, food, etc. if we end up with nothing we can use at the end.
Like Rod's experience though, it's never been a total bust. We've had some long shoots, and we've had a few scenes not good enough for DVD release that end up only in the Member's area, but fortunately, (knock on uhm, wood) we've not been burned too badly.
And a few of the couples have worked out great. Jade Houston was first hired as part of a 'couple' and a couple months later Maddy gave her an exclusive deal.

I don't know how to hire couples. I recruit couples, but they're contracted with and paid individually and they each sign individual release forms. I specify in both agreements what content will be included/required to get paid. But, in addition to the couples content, I also shoot some solo video and still content ahead of time. So that means I have content of just the girl before shooting the couples content. About 2 or 3 years ago the guy NEVER got it up. He didn't loose it and not get it back, he just never got there. I eventually negotiated a deal with the wife for the solo content primarily to avoid any more problems. I've never gone 7 or 8 hours (maybe 5 max for less than an hour of content), but I have twice stopped, had everyone get dressed, go do something else, and then pickup and finish later that same day.

Thanks guys - that is really useful insight. The idea of contracting with the parties separately is something I obviously never considered.
Mark, where you employ that kind of strategy but the male partner is nonetheless unable to perform, have you ever had a situation arise (no pun intended) where the girl changes her mind and opts to shoot with someone else? Presumably one motivation for agreeing to shoot in the first place is money, and as a couple they would both benefit from that income.

Geez you guys are too obsessed with the b/g thing and the penis thing and penetration thing, if a flaccid penis can incapacitate the entire filming operation for many hours.
What about creativity/imagination? Do some solo/tease stuff. Film the sex from different angle, etc. And what's so great about this guy anyway? Your "plan B" should be to shoot without the guy. Have the girl show up prepared to do softcore/solo, and have a pre-negotiated contract which pays her the appropriate rate for that kind of scene. Or is there ZERO demand for that kind of content?

Marston;
It happened only once, when the case was that the guy didn't bring his ID, and the couple was counting on the money from the shoot. The girl said she'd do 'anyone else', but that caused a bit of a riff between the two, and we cancelled the whole thing to keep from a fight breaking out.
It's odd now that I'm remembering it, but in that same case, the pictures the chick sent to Maddy (and the booking was based on) was prior to her being the 7 or 9 months pregnant that she showed up as. Ready to pop. So, we where all a little thrown off our rhythm there.
Maddy told the girl, that she would have no problem shooting her pregnant, but it's the kind of information she needed in advance, because she had written a completely different scenario (and set and costume) around it. It was a disaster.
And Ninja... it's always 'Plan B' to just shoot the girl. If you've seen any of Maddy's work, it's almost entirely based on the girl. The guy's aren't even credited half the time.

Ninjal, I'm an independent producer. I produce what publishers are looking to buy. I don't define the market, I try to satisfy a demand. Hopefully some of the readers on this forum are buying what the publishers are asking for. If flaccid is selling these days, short the 'blue pill' stock.

I'm not asking for flaccid; I'm saying B/G is overrated. But I understand you have dance to the publishers' tune.

I Have Been On The www.daredorm.com Set And Two Of The Three Guys Did Not Ever Get Even A Hint Of Wood, So Sorry For The Loss But My Man Got "Extra" Attention Because Of It Which Was Cool. We Have Never Had An Issue But Usually Think The Companies Are Just Winging It. No One Has Ever Had A "Back Up Guy", We Have Shot Over 40 Scenes Togeather.
