I am shocked and deeply saddened by the news of Amber Rayne's passing. I only met her in person once, at Sapphire's in New York during the eXXXotica NJ expo last November, but I will miss her greatly. One of the nicest and sweetest girls I have ever met in all the expos I've been to. She was in town for a riding competition. She rode during the day and then drove to Edison to meet her fans at the expo.
At night she came to Sapphire to support her "Wanted" costars Anikka Albrite and Allie Haze, who were feature dancing at the club. I'll never forget her getting out a cab at the front door and having to spend five minutes explaining to the doorman who she was so he would let her inside. I spent more time with Amber at the meet-&-greet than I did with the girls who were dancing! I didn't know she would be there Friday night, but she said she'd be back on Saturday, so I made sure to bring my voice recorder. She was kind enough to do a interview with me right there inside the club at the meet-&-greet.
Anyone who is a fan of Amber knows she was a huge of the San Jose Sharks, which is why I brought that beanie for her. She absolutely LOVED it and was very touched by the gesture. For the rest of my life, whenever I see the SJ Sharks on SportsCenter or on a score ticker, I'll think of Amber.
In addition to performing in adult movies, Amber worked a character designer for multiple video games, like Final Fantasy and others. She also was the assistant tour manger for several '80s hair metal bands and went on tour with them. Not only did she ride in competition, Amber trained horses and taught riding lessons as well.
Amber was a wonderful girl, who died far too young. My deepest condolences go out to her family and friends.
If you'd like to hear Amber's voice one last time, you can listen to the interview she did with me at Sapphire. Even though we had never met before, we sat and chatted like a couple of old friends.

What happened to this girl? She was so young and fully alive with joy and sadness but fully true that is. We know her and touched her through the screen on or off but she not gone from our head we feel her loss but will look her around in the sky like on earth for all that trepassing.

She sent me My Favorite Tweet I've ever gotten
"if i ever meet you, youre getting the biggest hug from me for everything. thank you for always supporting my craziness ;)"
I sadly never got to meet her. She seemed really cool. She will always be remembered.

Sad.
I liked her quite a bit. From what I can see, she would have been a fun person to hang out with, and was accomplished in many ways. I'm sorry that she died.

Oh man, this is so sad. I was a big fan and I believe she was from my neck of the woods (Detroit). Just terrible.

RIP Amber Rayne
I never was a fan of Amber but I always thought that she was a very good performer.
Very prolific and always happy and smiling.
She gave very much of herself to the industry.
Very sad news.
Thank you Amber.

RIP Amber, she was such a sweet girl.
Gone to soon.
I think there should be a thorough autopsy. People in her age don't usually die in their sleep

In the mainstream papers of my country, they say she died because drug overdose. Is it true? I thought that it was the cancer.

^ It is possible, but the media pretty much always assumes that anytime a porn star (active or former) dies, it is due to drugs.
Given her age, it can usually be attributed to a few things. We can likely rule out any foul play based on all reports.
-Drugs (accidental overdose/mixing, or overdose because the person does not care)
-Suicide
-Undiagnosed medical condition such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (common cause of unexplained deaths; often of student athletes suddenly dying)
-Known but not publicly disclosed medical condition
Hopefully for her family it was not the first two because no one wants to have a loved one die in those ways.

She died…THAT'S IT!!!
So sad...
She will be missed.
Any speculation on why she died is only part of our fascination
with death and celebrity.

I've always been a huge fan of Amber, for her work in porn, and her as a person in general. She had many talents besides porn, as many people have mentioned in this thread. Anyone who followed her twitter knew of her passion for hockey and the san jose sharks, that she was a video game graphic designer, a tour manager, and most of all, a horse rider and lover. The past week was all tragic for Amber, one of her beloved horses died last week just days before her, and i'm suspecting in the following days she had trouble sleeping, as would anyone who loses someone/thing they love. On the day of her passing one of her last tweets read 'Girlfriend calls me and after I answer "hello?" Goes "oh shit...That's it..Unlock your gate, Im coming over with wine, cookie dough & pizza". So if that was the case i'd imagine she drank a lot of wine, and who knows, maybe was taking sleeping pills to try to sleep while dealing with the loss of her horse. These things would take a toll on such a tiny girl, who barely weighed over 100lbs. Such a tragedy. I'm sure we'll learn more in the weeks to come. Don't know who the friend was, but apparently she was still there when Amber collapsed so she has the answers. All of it just seems surreal, i never would have imagined a girl with all the energy and passion for things in life she had going so soon. Heartbreaking...

I noticed that the website www.clubamberrane.com is sitill active despite her death! I think the webmaster should close this website for her memory and for her family! It is a shame it is still online and I hope that some people are not taking advantage of her death by trying to get more members joining the website. So gruesome!

A lot of webmasters keep sites open after girls leave the business (or in this case pass away). Trying to make a buck for sure; unfortunate. Although, she only passed away a few days ago, give them a chance to do something.

The only question I have about the site would be who gets her share of the revenue for it after she passes. I've never been a person that believed someone's content should be taken down after they die out of respect. If they weren't ashamed of it in life, then they aren't ashamed of it in death.

That website and the content on it are all old anyway, nothing newer than 2009, the webmaster (joe the pervert) ran it, as well as Katja Kassin's site KlubKatja and he owns all the content, the girls just did a specific number of shoots for him for a set fee and he retained the rights to all the content. Fact is Amber shot something like 400 scenes, should they pull all those movies down from all the websites they are on as well? of course not. Amber wouldn't have wanted it that way. In the last few years most of the content Amber shot was for Kink.com and her stuff for Stormy Daniels and wicked.com. She was proud of her work. Many many porns stars have passed away over the years while websites still sell content with them in it. Same with music, or movies. Jimi Hendrix died in 1967 yet they still sell his albums. It's life. They live on that way.

So this guy should better take down this website. I am not sure Amber would have want it this way, we will never know because she is dead now. Besides you can't compare a pornstar and Jimi Hendrix!

I noticed you joined here few days ago, did you do that with the purpose to get some help trying to shut down that site?

How do you know if he knows or not? Anyway when I came here I didnt know that she died. I learnt it with this very thread. I just wanted to say that I was disgusted to think that someone would use her death to make more money or more traffic on her related website.

porn is on the internet forever, even after death. it is not really worth getting outraged over it.
She didn't hide from her porn career and so it is presumptive to think she would want to be erased from the internet after death.

^ I just checked the site and there's no mention of her death that I can see. Nothing like, "Join Today to Support Amber's Memorial Fund" or anything like that. Just a bunch of old pictures. Does the site just existing at all somehow constitute exploitation in your mind?

^ Well, I guess that's your prerogative. Judging by the response to your posts in this thread, not too many other people feel the same way. At this point this discussion seems a distraction from what should be the focus of this thread right now: mourning Amber and celebrating her work. Maybe just dropping it for the time being would help get the thread back on track.

Has an official cause of death been announced for Amber? I just did a search and the only articles I could find were dated around April 4th/5th and all say the results of autopsy were expected in a week.

I don't think her family want it to be known. There has been enough talk online from people "in the know" that we can get a general sense of what happened. I am not sure anything more official will be coming.

... Unfortunately, it suffers a little bit from the same problem that she wants to criticize: If she couldn't use Amber Rayne against James Deen (as she believes she can), she wouldn't care about her life or death one bit.

My whole problem with the reporting of her death is that it always, always seems to be in relation to James. Even that article is more about her relationship with James than it is about her own life. Amber Rayne was her own person besides that scene, which she had arguably put behind her to the point where she considered herself and James friends (before she gave the quotes she did).

^^I don't think so. Margaret is an advocate for sex workers, and that includes those in the porn industry. She's written about porn in the past without any mention of rape.

Would almost agree on default just by looking where she writes. I refuse to take anyone saying US and EU has any kind of rape culture seriously. That said, this writer has a history of caring for the sex workers working conditions and so on.
Anyway, may Amber Rayne rest in peace. She really put everything she had into her job as an adult performer. And from what one can read that wasn't all she gave everything for. Other survivors of cancer too. Seemd like a great person from what we can read about her.
