Let me start by saying I'm glad to see OGV's archives were finally bought by someone. Though sadly it seems like for us STRAIGHT hardcore fans it won't change much. Sunshine purchased all of OGV's(Odyssey Group Video's)archives(except for Rodney Moore's Lines), but from what I've read they bought OGV only for it's Amateur, Bi, Gay, & Shemale films. That means some of the best & rarest porn lines & scenes are going to continue to collect dust. Things like "Adventures of Peeping Tom" which includes Tera Patrick biggest dick of her career(Brandon Iron) & more. Like "Pick Up Lines" which includes Current or Former Vivid Girl Cassidey's only Interracial scene(as Annie Bunz w/Jake Steed) & more. Like "Shane's World 1-28" which had unmatched on location hardcore scenes & more. Like "Sweedish Erotica Hard" which has some of the most harcore old school scenes & more. Like Ecstasy Girls, Fresh Flesh, Head Over Heels, Hot Girlz, Sea Sluts, Shane's Pornological, & the list keeps on going. Not only OGV's lines, but shortly before they folded OGV bought AGV(All Good Video) which had some pretty great lines themselves. Sometimes I just don't understand how the big porn companies let such great opportunities pass them by. OGV's archive sold for $257,000 which is chump change for a company such as lets say Vivid. Vivid could have purchased it for probably no more than $300,000 then sold the Amateur, Bi, Gay, & Shemale lines to Sunshine for probably $200,000. Then Vivid could have added the straight hardcore lines to it's all but dead Vivid Raw brand. I think Vivid should also do the same with Zane's & Cream's archives. Look for the link to the story that caused this rant at the bottom of my message. Speaking of Zane & Cream. Are any of you porn insiders aware if Zane's and/or Cream's archives have or will be sold anytime soon? As for Anabolic & West Coast. Why is it that these 2 companies along with Elegant Angel , Evil Angel, New Sensation, & Others refuse to drop their prices over time? Companies like Metro, Pleasure, Vivid(somtimes), Video Team, & Others show price drops after some time. This is really starting to annoy me. Knowing that DVD's cost about $4 to produce with 75+% of that being packaging & artwork. Some of Anabolic's & Elegant Angel's films from the mid to late 90's are still in the 17-25 dollar range which to me is absolutely re-DICK-u-loUS. What the article seemed to indicate was that they would release all the old titles, starting with the amateur line; and that they would make some new movies under the Odyssey label, which would probably be amateur and gay. I don't see why you think Vivid would be interested in this material. This is completely outside their business model for new films and, as it appears their compilations continue to do well, there's no reason for them to spend money acquiring somebody else's catalog. As for EA and others charging more, that's capitalism for ya. If people didn't consider their products superior then they wouldn't be buying them at the higher price. [Link] |
