Anyone else noticed how anabolic shoots these scenes where the chick is literally shown for 5 seconds. Then some guy literally walks right in and shoves his dick in her pussy or mouth. No foreplay, tease, nothing. Seriously I couldnt think of a way to create a more boring/uncreative movie. Its almost as if the guy had an appointment and is trying to get it over and quickly as possible. What the hell? Seriously, is the pool of directing talent that pathetic?
Honestly I think they are aiming for a specific group of viewers. While on the rarest of occasions there are gonzo scenes with a decent tease, strip or interview usually they are abysmal. Most of the girls I've seen try to dance can't dance. The interviews are all the same and the tease bores me. So I (and everybody I know) fast forward through it. Hell I've gotten to the point where I would rather a scene start of "in progress" than with some crap tease. My short answer is if you can't do it right don't do it all and most directors and most porn stars can't do it right. In my opinion. So I don't think this decision is poor directing so much as knowing their audiance. You know kinda like how James Bond flicks don't start off with high my name is James Bond. They start off withi shit exploding.
Perhaps Anabolic doesn't want to spoil its image as a maker of hardcore porn. Softcore foreplay might spoil that image and turn off some of their loyal customers. But not all foreplay needs to be necessarily softcore. A guy can come up to the sexy lady. Put his arms around her. Start kissing her on the lips. And with his hands on her ass, quickly find her asshole, and start stretching it out to the viewer's delight. After some very intimate kissing/asshole foreplay like that. The lady can lie on her back on the bed and start sucking the guy's cock with her mouth. While he puts some lube on his fingers and really has his way with her asshole in this missionary position, making her asshole gape wide open to the viewer's delight. When they finish this. Then it would only be natural for the guy to go straight to anal on the lady. This foreplay would work even better in a 2 on 1 scene. One guy would get softcore foreplay from the lady. While the other guy will concentrate on stretching out the lady's asshole and giving her the kind of outrageously hardcore foreplay many Anabolic fans like to see. The problem with making a good porn movie is that it's hard to please every Tom, Dick, and Harry. Some fans want to see soft foreplay before the hard sex begins, because they need this in order to get into the mood. While others want to see the horny guy just tear into the sexy lady right from the word 'go'. Just the sight of such a sexy lady is exciting enough for them. But this problem of trying to please every viewer is not really all that difficult to solve. It is possible to please everyone, when you do it the right way. All the filmaker needs to do is have two sex actions going on with the lady at the same time. The film director can combine softcore foreplay together with hardcore foreplay. And have both going on at the same time. When you have both at the same time, then you are showing something softcore foreplay fans want to see. And you are also showing something hardcore sex fans want to see. You please everyone. And everyone is happy with the sex action.
This has been their trademark for years, imo it's good because this is what makes them stand out and different even though I don't particularly watch their movies anymore.
I didn't say it can't be done well, I said it usually isn't and I would rather it not be done at all than done poorly. That said you had some great ideas there.

That kind of stuff came from the old-school directors like Sal Genoa who didn't have the slightest technical knowledge or creativity. The only two directors that did anything different at Anabolic were myself and Ivan. I'm long gone from Anabolic, so I guess if you want a product that has more than 2 seconds of tease with the girl or girls in the scene, hit up Ivan's movies. This is how it worked with the old guys: "Hi my name is [insert name here]. I'm [years] old, have size [letter] tits, and a nice ass. Are you ready to see this [teenage/anal/latin/black/asian] girl get fucked?" I cut enough of their movies to know that they did the same stuff in every movie, it was just cookie cutter stuff. Jealousy is, and always will be, tearing that company apart.
Personally I think it was utter shit they directed. I mean, really do you even need a director for this? not really if you think about it. Ricky D, I think you are totally correct. Anabolic used to be a great company, back in the days with the original up your ass, world sex tour, etc...awesome stuff. Now days it is just garbage. Boring, no creativity, every movie is the exact same.
That was the best thing about Mike John Movies when he was there, I know it was a long time ago but he did create a great theme. He talked to the girls, got them to show what they had and for me personally it got me into the scene as I'm into that sorta stuff. I think Brandon Iron also does a great job at this.

I don't really care for interviews, because they aren't really honest or interesting, but love tease. Sometimes the tease is better than the fucking, imo. Stagliano was probably the first to really play up the tease and today Jules Jordan's success is due in part to his extensive tease scenes, although I find his sex scenes more formulaic. Since these are two of the best-selling directors ever I'd say that the majority do dig tease.
If you you want to see some more of the girls doing tease segments, then check out Ivan's Anabolic movies. All of them that I have looked at always put the girl first. He does a great job at teasing us, and I think that he is really trying to turn anabolic back into the great company it used to be. Sweet Cheeks 8 and Nice Rack 15 are good examples. I do agree that the girl should be the main focus of any porn movie, and to completely miss a great opportunity to show off the extreme sexiness of the female body is beyond me! My brother (Ricky D) is right. When I came over to Anabolic last year all I saw was poorly lit uncreative stuff comng from Sal. He was a friend and when given some feedback not only didn't respond well to them but pushed away and kept doing the same thing. It featured more of guy's personalities then the girl's. Weird huh? For me it's like this, I shoot over 20 minutes of tease with each girl then cut it down to somewhere between 3 to 5 minutes to creative music. These stripteases I use lighting rigs, camera rigs, editing and camera tricks just to make things interesting. Some directors try to do things a bit differently but really. When you're sitting there with your dick in your hand, you're basically waiting for the sex to start. I've seen a shitload of scenes that start with interviews. And they always ask the same questions. And some of the questions are things I'd rather not hear anyway. Interviewer - "How old were you the first time you sucked a dick?" Girl - "11" Interviewer - "WOW! Hot!" Excuse me while I gag! It's always the same questions. And is she really supposed to be honest? What if she was molested? Do you really want to hear that? No. Some tease can be cool but very few people can shoot it really well. I think the straight to the sex style can be done well, but very often it isn't, and in fact is indicative of the director not having much in his toolbox. I also agree that some of these interviews are pretty lame and that a lot of directors simply don't get how to shoot tease sequences.
