Since the very first "Whack Attack" movie I bought, Tom Byron has rocketed to the top of my list of favorite directors who "specialize" in Anal sex. He has been at it longer than most of the "anal directors" out there and he has perfected some techniques along the way.
Other contenders for the top spot (including Jonni Darkko, Jules Jordan, Jean-Yves LeCastel, etc.) seem to have earned their way to the top with things like amazing camera angles, great positions, beautiful girls, and the like.
However there are 2 main things which the new directors don't seem to appreciate as much.
1. Cow-Girl Anal : IMHO, this is the best looking position for anal because it greatly accentuates a girl's beautiful, round behind. Reverse-Cow-Girl Anal with the girl's legs lifted high up in the air is a very close second. I noticed that back when Tom was performing, he almost did this with every girl. Watch the "Lord of Asses" movies for a demo :-)
2. Head-on ass hots during the tease segment, with butthole showing! : Other directors usually claim they're such ass aficionados that they include all those sideways/profile shots of asses and lots of anal play. Well, let me tell you that I don't really care for anal play, but I get really turned on by head-on shots of lovely asses, with women (partially) bent over, maybe using their hands to hold their butt cheeks apart, and showing their cute buttholes in all their glory . Why on earth do the other directors insist on lame shots that almost seem like they intentionally avoid showing a girl's butthole? Since this comment may be heard to grasp, well a movie clip is worth a million words! I think that Taylor Rain's ass shot at 2:45 alone is the type that reminds me what attracted me to anal in the first place!
The only thing I'd like to improve even further there is: Lengthen the time the camera holds still on the ass shot :-). And lengthen such segments as well :-)
Yep, Tom Byron has always been my favorite. I have every volume Whack Attack and Lord of Asses. I noticed more directors now are shooting positions like cowgirl anal that was perfected in Tom's movies. Jules Jordan is great at featuring the ass too, but in my opinion Tom is the king.

I completely concur. Mr. Byron is the greatest director of anal the Adult Industry has ever produced. I also consider him to be a great performer too. I so miss his performances. He truly loved asses and anal sex. He seemed to be able to put each starlet at ease and get her to really open up for him. Some may find it weird, but I would say that Tom Byron conveyed a true love for women and the female form. No matter how wide the gapes or how hard the thrusts, the sex always had a certain sensuality about it.
I have truly admired his work since the days when he was plundering the golden buns of the gorgeous Nina DePonca in the 80's and 90's. He is the reason why I am obsessed with WM/BF anal sex, today. Does anyone besides me remember when Tom (and not T.T. Boy) was the star of Black Cheerleader Search ? I still re-play his buggerings of ebony starlets like -India, Monique, Obsession, Janet Jacme, Supremacy, Jordan McKnight, Sahara, and many others.

Of course everyone is entitled to his opinion, but I'm curious as to the reasons behind yours :-)
I've read a review at adultdvdempire.com where the reviewer pointed out that Rocco was good as a performer but not a director, and I think he's definitely right at least about the director part.
I only saw Rocco's later movies (when he was already directing his stuff) and, frankly, I haven't seen one memorable scene or even a single camera angle. All you get with him is quantity (i.e. himself VS lots of girls). I stopped getting any Rocco movies as a result.
Quality is what matters. I can name many memorable scenes or even particular positions/angles from Tom's movies.
For example: Whack Attack 11 - Tom with Belladonna. That was Belladonna's best scene ever and the whole reason I originally fell in lust with her :-) The CGA and RCGA there were masterpieces to learn from!

Tommy is great but not very aggressive he perfers the girls to do all the work as where Rocco takes charge and that's what I like is a man who takes control like Rocco but that's just my personal thing.

We have discussed doing some all girl stuff. I directed one for Elegant back in the day, but I felt I was out of my element. You really need to have a passion for it to do it really well. That's why Bruce was so great at it and why no one's really been able to fill his shoes since. Believe me, it's not as easy as simply turning girls loose on each other. You have to cast it right and be able communicate exactly what you want from the girls, and Bruce was simply the master.
When Evolution does do an all girl flick, I want to make sure it's something that would do Mr. Seven proud. A daunting challenge to be sure, but hopefully we'll hit the mark! Keep watching!!
