Reviewers Recommend My First Sex Teacher 88 - review by Captain Jack Starring: Kayla Paige, Skylar Snow, Rachael Cavalli, Armani Black [I] (2020s), Bunny Madison. Read review
During my morning drive to work I scan through a lot of different radio stations, and I keep coming across this moron who calls himself "Mancow" who has his own radio show. Another of these useless tools who panders to the masses by preaching them BS they want to hear while never bothering to try to actually fix any of the problems he complains about so much. Earlier this week, I happened to pick up his show just as he was beginning to talk about porn stars. He was saying that he's talked to a number of women in the industry throughout his career, and how all women who work in porn are "sad, depressed, miserable people. Somewhere in their lives there was a dad, or a brother, or an uncle or some man who molested them, or raped them." Normal people don't do that kind of work, blah blah blah. Now to be sure, porn isn't a traditional line of work. But to say that EVERY person whose ever worked as a performer is a screwed-up, traumatized abuse victim? Whatever. Why can't people just accept that sexuality is a part of being human? And how is being exploited by the sex industry any different than being used up and tossed aside by any other industry? How many people work for years and years with one company only to get kicked to the curb one day because that company doesn't want to pay that person the pension they're entitled to? How many people do great work for a company and get paid next to nothing for it while the company uses that idea to make themselves a ton of money? Thanks, I just had to get that off my chest.
Funny thing is--I seem to recall Mancow having no problem with the ladies and their activities on an episode of Playboy's Night Calls where he was a guest. This was awhile back when Juli Ashton was still a host...

Why take anything you heard on the radio that seriously?
Wonder how come the guys in porn are never singled out as being screwed up, traumatized, or didn't get enough love from mommy? Is it because guys will stick their prick into a meat grinder if they thought it would feel good? Just a thought.

That's the popular stereotype of porn performers. You don't even have to look to the anti-porn crusaders to hear the negative side. You hear it from insiders, producers, pornstars talking about other pornstars, porn journalists and even from pornstars themselves. To stay competitive and last any length of time in the biz you probably will do lots of things you hate doing, and work with people you don't want to work with. That's American porn for ya, take something amazing and natural like sex, and turn it into another job to hate. ...but I'm still stroking for now.
Just to play devil's advocate, Belladonna, Jenna Jameson, Ginger Lynn and Traci Lords were all raped or sexually abused. These are some of, if not the most famous stars ever and you wonder why? Also, Annie Cruz and Flower Tucci have also admitted suffering unfortunate experiences. In his book, Porn Star, Ian Gittler wrote that no matter what they said initially, almost every single woman in porn he met eventually confided to him that she'd also suffered some sort of abuse. And if you're looking for what's wrong with men, Susan Faludi did a chapter on porn stars in her book, Manhood, and it pretty much showed there's no shortage of dysfunction on either side. I mean, are you really surprised Ed Powers once admitted he'd been sexually abused when a woman he was interviewing for Dirty Debutantes admitted similar? I believe he also mentioned it in an interview with Al Goldstein. I'm not saying every person in porn has suffered, but getting huffy about it is like someone in rap getting pissed that all rap performers are stereotyped as being former drug dealers or male dancers getting angry for being stereotyped as being gay. There's a good reason for it. What's ignored are socio-economic factors involved, but growing up poor is hardly as salacious as being touched by Uncle Bob.

That sounds just like... a regular job. I wish somebody asked me if I had a no list. None of my supervisors ever cared about me getting along with my co workers.
Where in the hell did you get that idea? I have NEVER ever admitted to suffering any sort of misfortune. If you read or heard this elsewhere, you got the wrong information because it is untrue. Edited by - Annie Cruz on 3/2/2009 3:58:02 AM

Oh yeah, and Bill Landis aka Bobby Spector. Admittedly these are all old school guys from the 'classic' film period but back then the male performers weren't as macho as those today so maybe they were just more willing to be honest. In The Other Hollywood John Waters estimates that 90 percent of the performers he met had been abused and he's far from some finger-waving moralist.
My apologies. I've obviously confused you with some other performer. But my point remains valid. It's not unknown, it's happened to the biggest stars so people acting like it's some sort or "out nowhere" myth is ridiculous. There's a reason Howard Stern always brings it up on his show.
And on that fateful day, the hatred consumed me... 1423 Posts 3/09

It's not like these attitudes are going to go away anytime soon. Mainstream society frankly doesn't like porn. It's seen as something to be ashamed of, dating back to puritanical religious ideology. Porn isn't a bad thing. Sex isn't a bad thing. It's one of life's few unmitigated pleasures (of course that is, amongst consentual adults etc, etc). The fact that it's been made to be niche, naturally draws in the grubbier elements synonymous with it, If everyone admitted outright to actually having a sex drive (and with it, in itself not being a bad thing), things would be a lot better. And fuck talk radio - What's the point in sitting there listening to some unsolicited prick invade my earspace, and getting wound up with impotent rage?
Did you have to fuck your co-workers? Comparing working with idiots to having sex with a person? Too funny. As far as the number of victims out there, I think it is really tragic. That some act out and do porn (or worse), I don't like, but at the same time I do like porn and it is none of my business why anyone should chose to do porn.
When you look at some statistics, someone saying they've talked to a number of women and found that they've been assaulted just isn't shocking. When those women are in the adult industry, where interviewers seem to feel that asking about a subject like childhood sexual assault/abuse is acceptable - something that would never be broached if the women being interviewed were all MIT graduates, it is self-serving moralism and sensationalism to correlate the incidence.
What is that even supposed to mean? It is true that some men view women as just objects to be had and inferior, but a victim is someone who suffered through a trauma... trauma does not distinguish from male or female.
I can only speak from myself, but I think any dislike of porn by mainstream society is out of jealousy. I wish I was getting laid like that, and since I don't, I'm bitter. Well, I would be.
Very true. As long as society is aknowledging that there is such a thing as 'the weaker sex' it will also be the truth. And the problem when the mainstream is interviewing porn stars is that it doesn't ask normal questions, the question is always "Why?". Same goes for extreme sports: How can we normal people understand freaks like you, without trying to understanding it to a point where it becomes disturbing and a threat to our own mental health?
It's possible that performing in porn movies helps many people deal with their psychological problems related to sex. People who have been molested and abused need to regain a sense of power and control over their sexuality. And one good way to regain such sense of control is for them to have sex in situations where they are in control and where they can exercise their control any time they want. And if this is true. Then the opportunity to perform in porn movies provides a valuable and therapeutic outlet for people who otherwise might end up having a lot of problems in their lives. There is more than one possible explanation of the facts. And there is no good reason why people have to choose an explanation that puts porn in a bad light instead of in a good light.
Thank you. One thing I'm really getting sick of is blowhards like him who claim to have all the answers but don't seem interested in actually doing anything. If you're really that fed up with this country, become an activist or something instead of just sitting on your butt in a studio and complaining about it.
Well, actually, if you're talking on the radio about your opinions, you are kind of involved in trying to do something about whatever it is you're complaining about. If he just wanted to complain about it, he could do that at the barber shop or something. People do go into radio for a reason. I don't agree with his opinion at all but he has a perfect right to express it.

Didn't Mancow date Janine Lindemulder for a period of time in the '90's? He's probably just pissed that she dumped him and is lashing out. Either that or he feels that way about porn chicks based on his relationship with Janine.
Belladonna's is well known. It was part of her interview on 20/20 years ago. Jenna Jameson and Traci Lords recount their rapes in their respective books and Flower Tucci said it in a BTS. Obviously, I've mistaken Annie Cruz for yet another I can't remember and Ginger Lynn's account was actually of Ron Jeremy raping her (which is an accusation more than one performer has made) but she came from an abusive household, but not sexually abusive one.

Does her past matter if a star isn't abused while doing porn?
While I don't know about the past of porn actresses, a very high number of girls get sexually abused growing up, and it usually results in a life of promiscuity, with periods of voluntary celibacy. People should be held responsible for their choices, but some people have lived some messed up lives.
I just don't see the male actor's potentially having the same issues, though apparently they do. Jon Dough committed suicide. He has probably the only job in the world that a male would love, and he killed himself. I would love to be in porn, that must be the coolest job for a guy, yet he didn't want to live anymore.
Sorry but I'm not buying into the "I was abused so now I fuck on film" story. Remember these are the same people that describe masturbation as self abuse. They also came up with all sorts of contraptions to tie down boys penises to stop nocturnal erections. They say decent women can't have an organism. They believe sex is for procreation only, all other sex is a sin. Their mission is to legislate that view into law. Life is abusive, life is depressing.
But if all you're doing is bitching to make yourself money, you're part of the problem, not the solution. All these people do is stir the pot and get people pissed off to collect a paycheck.
Belladonna's 20/20 interview? I didn't get to see the interview, although it's all over YouTube. Are you referring to when Diane Sawyers put her up to saying she was "abused" and Belladonna started crying? If so, that's a fucking joke. That's media bias and I could go on about that. Flower Tucci? What BTS footage? I'm with Shagdog, when he said "Sorry but I'm not buying into the "I was abused so now I fuck on film" story." Usually, it's religious people and feminazis who perpetuate that bullshit. They say it should be a woman's choice, but they wanna determine what's degrading towards other women. But I thought it was a woman's choice? Oh, I'm sorry! It should be YOUR choice. Dumb fucks!

The above has mentioned 6 people who have been abused before they went into porn out of probably no where short of 5000. I have known countless performers over the years that are really great people and were not abused. Christy Canyon, Tori Welles, Sunny Leone, Taylor Hayes, Jamie Summers, Barbara Dare, just to mention a few. Abuse at a young age doesn't = porn star or porn career or there would be hundreds of thousands of porn stars. Mancow, from personal experience is a douche bag. What a hypocrite. I know for a fact he has a large collection of porn because I sent him a majority of it. At least Stern is honest about it. When we did the offer to Sarah Palin he was the first to call us and ask for an interview claiming how great it was we did that, how funny it was, what a great publicity stunt it was, when he got Bill Fisher on the phone he yelled at him for 3 minutes and didn't let Bill say a word, then hung up. Mancow, how about manfullofcowshit.
I think Jon Dough committed suicide over money problems. I can't find the thread, but I don't remember it said it was because he was molested. Cal Jammer was addicted to drugs. Couldn't get it up and Jill Kelly through him out. Being a drama queen he blew his brains out on her door step. He wasn't a good performer and wasn't a star. This all about the sexual repression of women. Not men Feminist believe women are repressed by men when they have sex with men. But there is a growing number of sex positive feminist that believe men and women can enjoy sex and still coexist in the world. The religious faction believes sex was the original sin and should be against the law. I don't believe sex is a sin, and should be enjoyed and shared.
OK. First of all, I don't see what that has to do with porn at all. Porn is not intended to reflect reality. It's intended to be a place where people (primarily men but women also) can indulge their fantasies. Whether or not porn objectifies women within the context of those fantasies has little to nothing to do with reality and/or real women. Porn characters are just that. Characters in a script.
Yeah. OK. When was the last time you heard someone say porn objectifies and degrades men? In truth the men are not treated much differently from the women in porn and are seen by most fans as nobodies. You could make the same point that people try to make about women about the men but the difference is, nobody would care. It wouldn't have the same impact and the anti-porners know it. The anti-porn people will latch onto anything to try and give all the ridiculous things they claim credibility. Lots of people in lots of different professions have been abused (sexually and otherwise). Nobody is gonna put a random person on TV or the radio and ask them if they were molested as a child because it wouldn't serve anyone's agenda. It would just be sad and upsetting. It would also be seen as rude by most people and the interviewer would probably be attacked if it was just any random person. It is true that there are some performers in porn who had suffered abuse, and who have been sexually abused that are in the industry. To the extent that this mancow has stated (most of them) is just utter BS, and sensationalism. As far as the degrading aspect goes, the knife cuts both ways. There are very judgmental people out there, and some have passed judgement that all people in porn (lol, even those who only watch) are either damaged, or just sicko's... that is their problem, and personally I have enough to deal with so that dealing with judgemental idiots is very low on my priority list of things to do. I am actually grateful that porn even exists. I think the adult industry is an excellent saftey net to ensure the enviroment for doing porn is as good as it can possibly be... I wouldn't ever think it to be perfect, but vastly better than some "entrepreneurs" making sex films in their vans or garages.
My point was not to insist that the majority of porn stars were the result of abuse, only to refute the original poster's insistence that there's no basis for people who assume it. Jenna Jameson is so famous now that she appears alongside Jennifer Anniston in gossip columns. Traci Lords is so famous her name is shorthand for porn star. When the two most famous porn stars of the last 20 years have this in their past, it makes perfect sense that the average person who has only heard of them thinks every performer is damaged. It's like someone who only knows of 50 Cent and Jay Z assuming all rapper were once drug dealers. It's not true, but you understand why someone may think that.
I've read Jenna's 'autobiography' (and really enjoyed it btw) and I can't say her story is all that tragic. But if one would focus on the negatives, in order to make a case against pornography, it wouldn't be very challenging. "I don't want to die without any scars. How much can you really know about yourself if you've never been in a fight?"
