I've noticed that some online porn sites have toned down their porn and removed some of the more extreme pictures. For one film, such as Gangbangers Ball, the cover has been completely sanitized of any porn. While for others, such as Assman #1, the back cover showing Eniko's hugely gaping asshole has been completely removed from websites. This I know for sure. Because I've seen that back cover at [ invalid url ].
Perhaps some Republicans talked a lot against porn in order to hide their passion for it from the public. While the Democrats talk a lot about the freedom of speech in order to hide their vehement disapproval of certain kinds of free speech.

I think Max Hardcore and John Stagliano, for example, would greatly disagree with you.
Whether they consume more of it or not, they must put on the bible-thumping facade and waste tax dollars to prosecute or persecute the very things they have stackpiled in their closet. Actually, I am a bit scared of what is stackpiled in their closet.

It doesn't matter what they consume at home if they're going to be hypocrites about it at work.
I begrudgingly voted for Obama. I think he's a brilliant person, and most likely a genuinely good person. However, I disagree with his financial and government views which go so far liberal that they're almost socialist.
I agree with Redish that since Republicans have to make the religious right happy enough to continue to get their support, a Republican administration is not as good for porn. McCain and Palin scared the hell out of me.

Perhaps not all Republicans are alike. Religious Republicans probably really are against porn a lot. But secular Republican are probably supportive of porn in private. But in public they don't talk about it in order to avoid any splits within their party.
The Democrats probably are not completely opposed to porn either. A lot of feminist-leaning Democrats are probably strongly opposed to certain kinds of porn, such as anals, DP's, and gang-bangs for porn ladies. But many of the same Democrats probably are in favor of erotica for women and porn that shows relationships and some kind of female empowerment relative to men.
And the 'children red herring' is something all sides like to use when they have something to say against porn and prostitution. Because it's an emotional argument that obscures the facts and persuades people to join the anti-porn side without thinking for themselves.

Right now the Republicans are too unorganized to tie their shoes, much less wage a war on anything. They will have to do something about their party's identity when they come out of their fetal position. I don't see the religious right being as big of an influence in the future, especially with this economy.

As a fan of classic porn, it's safe to say that bush is always good for porn.

Let me put this in simple terms. If a Republican's family is on a sinking ship and sending out a rescue team requires him to go against some kind of sacred Republican principle, that ship will go down and his family will go with it. Then he'll blame the Democrats.
The industry just had one of it's directors sent to prison while a good number of porn "fans" cheered and jeered. I reckon most of them (Industry people) are simply not that eager to join him (Max). The porn industry can still make money selling softer porn. The hardest hardcore is risky to make and sell in this country and they all know it. They may not necessarily fear Obama. They just don't want to take chances until they know where they stand with him. The guy has a religious background. Better safe than sorry. No reason to risk your freedom for only a marginally higher profit just to satisfy the whims of a bunch of ingrates who won't stand up for you (at least as much as they can) if you get charged with something.

I think the changes you've noticed would more likely be due to the recent Max Hardcore conviction. No one wants to go to jail for 4 years.
The Democrats vs. Republicans and porn debate has been talked about many times before here. It's well known that under Clinton, Janet Reno stopped all prosecutions or pursuit of adult pornography and focused on child porn. This is how Rob Black, Max Hardcore and Rocco were able to 'expand' the boundaries of what was acceptable in US porn.
Once Bush Jr got into power Ashcroft and company were gearing up to really go after porn but 9/11 slowed things down, although they still found time to take down Black and Max, almost get JM Productions and of course are still after Stagliano.
With Obama in power I doubt there's going to be much enthusiasm for the Stagliano case, but they also can't just drop the charges as that would leave them open to political charges of being 'soft on porn.' I guess we'll see how things pan out.

Ron Paul - The Revolution!!!!
Here's the perpetual dichotomy when it comes to politics. Conservatives profess small government and individual responsibility and yet their small government won't let you buy sex toys or watch milk enemas or abort your rape fetus. Liberals will let you abort a child every time you fuck someone and you can stick whatever you want up your ass but you can't be trusted with your own money. Either way, we are not free people.
I am a registered Republican, only because I sincerely believe in small government and individual responsibility (Also, I read Atlas Shrugged and found it to be a life changing experience). I also voted begrudgingly for Obama.
Unfortunately, Republicans preach individual liberty but they don't practice it. You are only allowed as much liberty as Jesus would be comfortable with. The republican party is a joke and they deserved to be voted into irrelevance.
The industry tends to reflect on the Clinton Administration as the good ol' days. Porn prosecutions ceased and America entered into one of it's most prosperous periods in history.
It's unlikely that porn will be but a blip on the radar under Obama. He's far too busy ushering in the new New Deal.

I wonder if they will get rid of the Obscenity Prosecution Task Force that Bush created--or at least minimize it substantially. I also wonder if the Stagliano case will really go forward given the new President's choice for Deputy A.G. Perhaps some sort of uncontested dismissal? (Just speculating / hoping)
I am not a fan at all of what Bush did to the adult industry, free speech, and individual rights in general. While I, too, have some doubts about Obama, he has to be better in this regard than his predecessor and the prior alternatives (i.e., McCain and Palin).

A little Bush on Pussy is always a good thing. A junior Bush as in W is always a bad thing. W took away as many freedoms as he could wrangle. He was Mr Reverse Robin Hood, took from the poor and gave to the rich. While most Republicans would SAY that porn is a bad thing (while they hired hookers behind closed doors), because it goes against THEIR high morals and values and hurts the CHILDREN. What they say to their constituants and what they do for real in their secret private lives are two different things.
Obama is good for porn, because he is focused on trying to fix the things in the economy that are killing America, no jobs, banks crashing, bad credit etc...
Legal porn helps the economy, and Obama has more important problems to worry about. He has also picked an assistant attorney General that has repped Playboy, Penthouse and Adam & Eve. Looks like he's on our side...

This shouldn't even be a question. Obama could never justify prosecuting anybody in the industry. The GOP is cut throat right now, but the Democrats have always shown the ability to eat their own (in good or bad times). An obscenity case with all that's going on in the country--after he's pledge to cut wasteful spending--wouldn't go over well.

Gangbanger's Ball was released a few years ago and the cover has always been like that. Awesome film though. Don't see much of Jasmin Byrne lately

So does all this mean that the next 4-8 years will bring a renaissance of balls-to-the-wall extreme hardcore porn? If porn is going to start spicing things up, it seems like now might be the time to do it.

I didn't know this, that bodes well but I still can't see them expending political capital to drop the Stagliano case. But they may be looking for someway to make a quick exit on the case.

Porn would be on the back burner now no matter who was elected because of the general overall economic situation. I would be surprised if Obscenity Task Forces weren't one of the first things slashed in the budget no matter who was in office now. Yes there are some right-wingers who might not vote for a president who is soft on porn but there is nobody who is going to vote for a president whose policies and decisions result in that voter losing their jobs and/or life savings. No matter how much financing anti-porn SIGs can provide a candidate they can not touch the amount of funding big business can provide a candidate. If a President has to chop off the finger of the anti-porn zealots to save the arm of the big business fat cats he will not hesitate to do so.

First you must ask yourself was Bush good for anything?
That answer is a really big apparent no.
I think President Obama has things of greater importance on his plate than the adult industry.
If 9/11 did not interupt Bushes agenda on the Adult Industry, we would probably all be in jail right now.]
Due to a catastrophic tragic series of events, we were put on the back burner.
Not back far enough with the 2257 laws.
When the GOP is running this country we are never off the stove, they keep a flame always lit and turn up the heat at a moments notice.
Bush wasn't the worst president in the history of this country, just so far.
he raised the bar for incompetence, deciet, stupidity, and most of all bad relations with the rest of the world.

No, the Feds drove him into poverty through the case. Last I heard he had moved in with his Mom. That's another tactic they use, make it unprofitable for you to operate any more.

Considering his company's reputation for actually paying their employees this result was kind of inevitable whether the feds got involved or not. Blaming the feds for Rob Black's current status is kind of like blaming Paris Hilton for making Brittany Spears walk around commando.

True, but let's say the Feds helped out.
