so i called gateway back regarding the previous issue i'm having with sleepmode and i also asked them the question "will my files stop downloading if my PC enters sleepmode". their response: "no". then i did some googling and most sites say that files will STOP downloading if a PC goes into sleep mode????? anyone here have the correct answer on this? this is confusing...
It will stop downloading in sleep mode. There are some programs that will prevent this but the easiest thing to do is disable sleep mode while downloading.

one more thing, what about files downloading in a P2P program (i use it mainly for hard-to-find electronic music not porn, i know this forum is very anti-piracy) will they get cancelled when the PC enters sleep mode? Sleep mode stops everything dead in its tracks. IMO, Gateway rep gave you wrong info, unless they added some special non-standard feature to their computers. You could conduct a simple experiment and find your own answers. Set sleepmode timer for 1 minute or something brief, download a sufficiently large file (which requires more than 1 minute to complete), don't touch the mouse/keyboard, wait and see what happens. Try the same experiment while downloading a p2p file. BTW I'm finding lots of stuff on Google regarding Win7 and sleep, for example: Link 1 Link 2 Edited by - ninja1 on 6/1/2012 3:41:08 PM
