I may have fueled the fire a bit, but I still can't help but agree with alot of what RonK says.

In any case, I can't see that there's much use to this thread anymore. Many of us seem to be clouding the issues by taking things too personally, and A/D obviously believe they have a formula that works, and nothing we say here is going to make any difference.

Chico's right. ADT is a small pond, and certainly doesn't drive their market. On the other hand, I stand with others who are disatisfied with their adamant defense, but their ultimate lack of real action--knowing of course that my opinion is just a drop in the ocean of porn fandom, and that I may simply not be their audience.

Anyway, I've said too much now to close the thread right this second. :)

Ultimately, for those of us who aren't happy with what we're hearing, there's always the simple, and ultimately most effective solution--just don't buy A/D's stuff. Given that neither side seems to really be listening to one another, is there really much more to say than that?

I'm just not one of these hardcore porn fanatics who feel the need to go ballistic all the time. Currently, I would not rank A/D at the top of my list of porn purveyors, and not at the peak of their own history -- but given all the shit that's gone down with those companies, I give them credit for a few things: Constantly delivering hot new talent (even if you have to wait until they've already appeared in a dozen RLD titles before the first Anabolic one comes out); finally getting on track with at least SOME simultaneous releases; definitely different style in both concept and execution for DVD (Chico, anyway); humor and laidback vibe in current run of titles (Chico, anyway); and, at least, a willingness to engage angry customers one-on-one in a public arena --- Clear Channel wouldn't do that, but here you can go straight to the source.

Beyond which, though, can anyone tell me with a straight face that there is more than about 5% difference between a gonzo title shot by one company and a gonzo title shot by another company? No one's pretending to be handcrafting the zestiest homebrew west of Brussels, folks! This is Budweiser, Coors, Corona and Rolling Rock of porn.
Truth is, I buy or rent DVDs based on these factors:

1) The girls -- whichever new porn girl I am fleetingly obsessed with directs my eye to the boxcover.

2) Do I think the director is any good -- if it's shot by someone whose work has disappointed me for whatever reason, I ignore it no matter what.

3) The director is so excellent, with tastes similar to mine and an eye for casting and some element of technical, performative or psychological forte merged with some vague kink aspect that so closely matches my own perverse interests that I will get anything he or she does (well, almost anything) -- Joey Silvera stands nearly alone, though this could go for a lot of Evil Angel titles, and also for maverick types like Mason, William H., Guy Capo and some of Brandon Iron's stuff (though not always).

4) I'm curious about a line, title, company or director and will check something out to see if I like it or not -- mostly themes at varying extremes, black studs/white girl gang bangs, all-girl titles, wacky JM productions stuff, Andrew Blake fluff-fests, God forbid actual features by the likes of "James Avalon," Max Hardcore.

It strikes me that A/D is finally getting it's "restructured" scenario together after the "diaspora," and obviously there are many bumps in the road to perdition. Hell, they ain't even got Cal444 around anymore. Imagine how problematic that is. Ultimately, I'm with MLyons here: If you don't like what they're doing, don't watch their movies. How hard is that? Otherwise, it's just more preaching to the choir, isn't it?

I'm sorry if I'm deflating the value of some of you posters who think you drive the industry but I'm not like other people in the business who kiss ass whenever possible.

This industry, like it or not, is a business. There was a mistake with GBG35, it will be rectified, but it will not satisfy all. To state that because there was a lack of response on this board, my company doesn't care about the fans is irrational and futile at best.

It's not my movie so it really is not my concern.
