i found this story on an activist twitter link. i didnt write it but the first parts of it i can connect with. i guess you can ignore the latter parts ------------------------ I was addicted to pornography, in every possible way. It was sickening, I would sit in front of the computer screen like an idiot for hours drooling, while watching images rotate. I was sick, by every stretch of the word. At one point, I became depressed and the only thing that I would look forward to was the ease and deceptive simplicity of pornography. It was difficult for me to build personal relationships with women, because they seemed very complicated compared to the On Demand nature of porn. It got worse and worse, I would sit in my room for hours doing nothing but watching. One day, it all fell apart. I began to notice how irritable I would become when I was not watching pornography. I began to notice how all my relationships were breaking down. Pornography was isolating me as a human being. It was fragmenting my experience of life. It was weakening my instincts. It was turning me into a reflexive pathetic creature reacting to sexual images on a manufactured screen. Those who tell you that pornography empowers are usually pedaling it. Those who tell you that pornography is freedom have never sat down in a room for 12 hours attached to a screen. Then at some point last year, a friend told me to accompany her to a political protest. The excitement, the freedom of hearing people, alive, in the streets, seeing the world differently. The excitement of wanting to be something higher than a consumer of drugs, of stuff, of pornographic images. Something triggered inside of me, and I have not consumed pornography since then. When I feel that loneliness, that isolation, I contact my comrades to start a new project, a new idea, of attaching this sick consumptive system. Every time I feel alone, I resist, I rebel, I use my mind and spirit to destroy the legitimacy of the broken system. Since then, I have also met a woman and we are seeing each other. She’s a radical as well and I can say with assuredness that I have never felt better in my entire life. I have never felt more alive, more aware, more alert, more ready! Long live the revolution!

I Totally Apologize, i completely misread that as being from you. anyone can get addicted to anything in a remarkably short amount of time. sounds like O.P. has an addictive personality. Again, Sincere Apologies
^No don't edit/remove. I think some posters will have an opinion to share, personally I don't believe the story it sounds fictional to me but no doubt addresses certain issues surrounding porn and the consumer, your post may provoke a debate at least. Edited by - Jonny Jay on 12/11/2011 1:27:07 PM
^^ Or he finally found a woman I am a porn consumer but not on a computer I don't download anything I have java semi-disabled from this computer I chose not to allow streaming videos , not because of porn I don't consume it as such but because they could distract me or any other oone using this machine from other more important purposes. I only buy or rent from retailers usually watch one scene only or two at best sometimes I'm not in the mood and I give the DVD back without watching and sometimes I even watch porn movies (those featured) the same way as a regular movie just for the story , seem hard to believe but this is it. I have a regular life out there , so I can't really fit the image that man described , though I've been a porn consumer for almost 25 years with a pause of three years due to a girlfriend who was a porn hater. She forced (too strong word though) me to get rid of all the porn I collected over the years , I was in love and comply gladly , she was a fine girl who liked sex as much as I do , she hated porn , not sex, so I've no regrets she was worth it.Only a forgotten small box in my garage survived it contained 30 DVDs some of them were among the finest I had. I still am a porn consumer I can't say it's an addiction, could be, but I think it's more an habit , I'm used to consume porn so I do even when I actually don't need to.Sounds fictional to me too, remove porn and write gambling online and it all would be the same and even more likely

Replace in this sense is replacing the addiction... like having a drinking problem, but you compensate and beat the drinking problem by replacing it with a smoking problem... then to beat smoking you start overeating to replace smoking. I think it's crazy - but if the original post is more than a screed trying to get people aligned with the writer's cause, it's just replacing one addiction with another.
The author of this porn addiction article doesn't say if he is banging his newly found woman, and if she is just as radical in bed with him as she is a radical on the streets during the protests. Having sex with a real woman is of course better than masturbating to porn, especially if the woman happens to be a real radical in bed. I can only imagine how a woman rebelling against social norms might bar her pussy and tell the guy to ride her ass instead, just for the sake of being a radical in bed.
One thing I can agree with: it's ridiculous to go around saying "porn is freedom." Do people still use that argument? It seems so antiquated and redundant in the 21st century.
Porn is still prohibited in many non-western countries. It still is a question of sexual freedom for many people around the world. China, for example, censors its internet for porn. And so do many other countries.
^ Yes, I am well aware of that. There is still a big difference between "porn is freedom" (or, as another well-worn argument goes, "porn is sexual liberation") and "freedom of speech is important to our civil liberties."
Can't say whether it's an addiction, but I am a regular porn watcher. People usually say that any normal person must have a form of addiction to something. Can't say if it's been verified though. As I'm not into smoking, drinking, drugs or gambling, I guess that porn is my addiction. If it's a good thing or not, I can't say.
no, if i'm out for the night I can do away with it. I love watching it & spend quite some time on porn, but it's not as if my life depends on it though.
+1 I tend to agree. I believe that the author of the article in the Original Post has deep seated Psychological issues. Perhaps since they use Twitter they will spend '12 hours a day' glued to a Computer Screen Tweeting? Watching porn for 12 hours a day is not due to porn. It's due to the mental deficiency or deficiencies of the 'addict'. "Porn" did not cause this persons problems. Their thought processes and impulse control/obsessive nature is the problem here.
The person in that account on twitter has no idea what life is about. I am no therapist, but all things in life if you abuse them rather than rationally make them apart of your life will destroy you. I myself love porn, I love women, I love sex, but all of them can be pushed past a healthy point if I do not have balance as a person. In my opinion it is the best thing to share your interests with people in your life, don't hide them. If you like porn and want your mate to watch with you, get with a person who watches porn, don't get with a bible thumper or someone along those lines. If you do you are only lying to yourself. People in this world settle way too much and don't put the effort into getting what they want. In all honesty, most people who abuse porn and make a bad name for us fans who take for what it is, and they don't do anything to get what they want in life. If you ain't rich, have a twelve inch cock, look like Don Juan or spit game like him you are gonna have to work to get a sexy ass, raunchy, fun woman. Plain and simple, she ain't gonna fall out of the sky. Instead of working to get that woman those who fuck it up for us will just sit in front of a damn computer for twelve hours and blame it on someone else that they don't have the life they want to live! Plain and simple!
We could quite easily replace "pornography" in the OP's(cut and paste story) and replace it with "alcohol" "anti depressants" etc and give the story the same outcome...any addictions can shatter your soul.An example could be an anorexic who goes through all the same soul searching etc as "food" surrounds and takes over their life, leaving them feeling worthless and crushed.

The dude obviously had issues but he blames porn instead of his psychological issues. lol at the use of 'comrades' though, unfortunately that tells me where this is coming from...
I agree with Rolf. It's just about switching kicks. And if you're that kind of person you need to learn how to refocus frequently not to get stuck. Some people just need more stimulation not to feel frustration, or 'the itch' as I call it. It can make one very productive or very inproductive depending on circumstances.
Partial quote from solidsnake... "If you ain't rich, have a twelve inch cock, look like Don Juan or spit game like him you are gonna have to work to get a sexy ass, raunchy, fun woman. Plain and simple, she ain't gonna fall out of the sky." You're damn right. Speaking for myself... Am I rich? No 12 inch cock? No Good looking? No Talk good game? No Intelligent? No Charming? No My answer to all of these negatives.... Porn and Hookers. Simple as that and I have 0% shame in admitting that. and also work on making as much money as possible and becoming physically fit and mentally stonger. Porn is a very close companion to many many many people for so many reasons. Anti-porn activists have no idea. What about folks whom, for whatever reason, need porn as a sexual outlet? Folks whom may have a physical impairment preventing them from having actual sexual intercourse. Do we just ignore them? Can't these people enjoy the fantasy of having sex with a beautiful woman or women? Anti-porn activists need to fuck off.
"Ashlii," whoever that is, is obviously the one with the porn addiction, or is slowly starting to realize that they have a problem, and they are very conflicted about it, feeling guilty, and ashamed, otherwise they wouldn't have started this post and pasted what they did. So my response to this, to you, "Ashlii," is good for you for realizing you have a problem, and now, that you have, maybe you should find deep reserves of will power and take care of your problem, and stop bothering the rest of us with it. I've got a lot of problems in my life, everyone does, but porn is the least of them. I love porn. I love the women in porn. Porn is my friend. I can tell that it's not your friend, so maybe you should go make a new one. I hear Jesus is always looking for friends.
I rarely skip any of a post I respond to. I did not miss it. I understood the person did not write it. I just don't understand why they posted it here under the title "Anyone else have a porn addiction?" if they do not have an agenda. Unless I missed something, I don't think this forum is intended for anti porn propaganda, regardless of who wrote it.
ok, what u missed here is "the whole point"!!! Ashlii never said anything "anti-porn" here , and the story didnt mention anything of that sense. the topic is simple, do u nfind yrslef kinda addicted?? I myself find it an interesting topic cos seriously, i started realising that there's something addicting about it. I rarely masterbate to porn, and i was always convinced that it was no problem for me.. until one day i asked myself "if i dont even masterbate to porn, why watch it?? so i deleted the whole package "about 200 gb of porn or something" and felt i'm free, and a big load was off my chest , but then......i slowly returned back! starts with some pics of hot girls, then looking for latest porn news "for fun", then lastly, watch porn on full scale again! well, i first didnt bother and i said "wtf? i am just bored and stuff, i can quit when i want to" but guess what? the story i just said happened times and times and i always end up watching porn again! So to Ashlii, yes, i see porn addicting, and i think it is so cos it offers the same exact stuff drugs and other addicting stuff do "escape from reality, fulfill yr fantasies, absolutely no obstacles one finds in real life" even when we all know its all fake and nothing of it is related to real life, but after all, we all enjoy it very much!
I see porn everywhere. But I'm not addicted to it. I just like it like I like Cinema and not just stupid blockbusters. I like to choose good porn movies, not just the latest releases of DP or EA just because it's stylish and heavy produced. Edited by - grmi- on 12/13/2011 6:48:40 PM

Some people are more prone to addiction than others. I find moderation in everything is the way to go. The person that is addicted to porn is likely to be at greater risk to have an addiction to something else too. There are all sorts of addictions, the tendency of those who are addicted is to blame the source of the addiction and not themselves. It is a way to displace blame and direct it at something other than themselves to reduce the guilt and shame. Besides watching porn, I drink alcohol, but am careful on where I drink it, when I drink it, how much I drink of it and what I do after I drink it. If I abuse it, it is not the alcohols fault, it is my fault. To those who blame porn for their weaknesses, the alibi does not work. It will score points on a talk show and draw attention from our lamestream media but not from me.
have seen a few BBC documentaries on porn addiction & masturbation addiction aswell what is defined as addiction with porn anyway? is it you cant go a day without watching it? the men they had on the doco spent hours every night after work on the internet just watching porn over and over ive realised for me, the last few years i only masturbate while watching porn. it takes too long for me without porn...but does that me addicted??? i dont think so personally but where is the definition? i dont crave it when not watching it, i dont watch it for hours on end... just when im not having sex and i need to masturbate, i use porn
No. I asked what the point is because I don't see the point of posting anti-porn propaganda on a forum that's intended to be a friendly environment for porn fans and industry people to discuss porn unless you're trying to stir up trouble.
Most of us here probably don't share the opinion that enjoying porn is an addiction. That's putting it nicely. To be blunt, I think the OP is trolling. Does this person have a history of this kind of thing? I have no clue. But if I had the slightest interest in hearing what pop psychology hacks think of my interest in porn, I know where to find them. Far be it from me to say "Don't post this". This is merely to say I don't think you're fooling many people here. Edited by - randomprecision on 12/14/2011 5:12:12 AM

Jesus Christ Man!! I think Ashlii's point was to start a fucking topic/thread....no more, no less.
Exactly....don't you think it would behoove you find out before you accuse them(Ashlii)of trolling.... I find the topic quite compelling and have asked myself on a couple occasions if, because I'm on disability and spend an inordinate amount of time on the computer, often looking at/reading about/posting about porn, I might actually be developing an addiction.
