I have got 3 Private discs now that appear to be "rotting", and was wondering if anyone else had any problems with Private discs.

If I look at the bottom surface, I can see white "clouds" of discoloration under the surface. Not a good description, but the best I could come up with. The discs now refuse to play.

I contacted Private about this via email and was told it was nothing to do with them, take it up with the retailer.

Not much use to me as I bought them a couple of years ago while on holiday in the States. :(

I don't know if this works on older discs, but some people have been cleaning discs with rubbing alcohol. Worth a shot.

I remember a couple of years ago there was a major DVD duplication facility that was producing dics that exhibited the same types of problems. I think the problem was poor lamination of the reflective surface to the plastic carrier substrate. The sad thing is there's not much you can do about it.
