To any of the posters here,

My last order from Adult DVD Now still has not arrived, after a month, and since I've never had any problem with any of my previous orders from them, I have allowed the extra time to pass in order to see if the "offending" order would arrive. I just e-mailed them concerning it and outlined the problem.

It's probably a toss up as to the reason as to why the order hasn't arrived i.e.

1. Irish Customs has it OR
2. It has been been lost in the post.

There could be others e.g. someone in the post office has helped themselves to the envelope, but I am leaning towards the two outlined above.

As I have kept an eye on other DVD forums concerning delivery problems and the like, Irish Customs don't seem to be a big topic of conversation and since ADN sends their orders here in LARGE CARD ENVELOPEs, normally classed as "Documents", I am disinclined to think they may have it! But, who knows?

The order was sent on January 2nd, and by my thinking, is more likely to be lost in the post, because of the volume of postal traffic over the Christmas and New Year period.

What do any of you think?

Frank, from ADN, stated that some International Customs may take up to 2 months to inform a person concerning a seizure. So that's fine by me! And I suppose I can wait. I have always found ADN very easy to deal with, usually very prompt and good prices and service.

Has anyone lost any packages/orders from ADN? What have been any of your experiences about dealing with ADN afterwards?

I only placed a couple orders with ADN and I'm in the US. No problems here. They were very good to deal with.

I've had no problem with ADN but have had an order from dvdadvantage confiscated by customs (it was when dvdadvantage went by a different name, I cannot remember what it was). Customs took at least a month, probably nearer two from what I can remember, to inform me that they had seized the goods.

I thought with the recent change in UK law regarding pornography that we would not be getting any more seizures? Are you in Northern Ireland or the Republic? I don't know if a different law applies.

CrumpetMan: I live in the Republic, not the North! That's why I refered to Irish Customs not "HM Customs .

Also for information's sake (and I'm not being snippy here), if the address or location simply states Ireland , 99% of people are referring to the Republic of Ireland and not Northern Ireland. I know many people from the North reading this might disagree, but to us, Northern Ireland is ALWAYS associated with or is classifed as being part of the United Kingdom (and I definitely DON'T WANT TO get into politics here).

Actually, a lot of American (and Canadian) companies suffer from this misconception when dealing with customers from this side of the Atlantic. Some of my DVD orders (both General and Adult) have been mis-labelled as "Ireland, UK". However, normally, when they arrive on this side of the water, the Post Offices can re-route them to their proper destinations, but, they may end up taking a few extra "hops" to get here. A funny example is that one of my orders (my only one delivered by UPS) ended up firstly in England, then Germany, then Dublin, then Cork and finally here. And it did have the "UK" designation at the end of the address. Another thing is I actually hate the Eire designation that many US companies use to distinguish (the Republic of) Ireland.

I digress, but, at times, I like to ramble on a bit...

I have read in other forums about HM Customs "dealings" with many customers importing from the States to the UK, but not about Irish Customs on orders to the Ireland. My gut instinct says, that Customs don't have my order and it is lost in the post and after a month of waiting, how long more should I wait, before contacting ADN again and from any one else's problem experiences with them (if any one has had any), what can I expect?

I don't know anyone from Ireland so I wasn't sure if Ireland meant north or republic. But now I know :)

I still don't think that the package has been seized though as ADN can ship just about anywhere due to their clever packaging technique.

Thanks CrumpetMan,

Glad to explain the difference between the "Ireland(s)".

As to ADN, that's my thought exactly. I don't think customs have the package. I agree that their shipping methods are (relatively) clever and orders are less susceptible to seizure and because of that I don't think Customs has mine. Although, one sent from France (DVD Zone 2) was shipped last Friday and I thought it would be here quicker. Hopefully, later today...

In relation to ADN, I am thinking of giving it another week and then contacting them again. What do you or any of the other posters think?

I'd say your packet has almost certainly gone walkabout rather than seized. A lot depends on whether they put a Customs sticker on the packet, because they're what Customs bods look out for rather than "suspicious" packages.

Some have Customs stickers, some don't. Those that do are nearly always marked as "Documents". One or two have had the "Gift" checkbox marked also.

Unless Customs are wise to this procedure, they never stopped/checked it. None of my previous orders have ever been opened, at least it looks that way.
