Hi everybody,

after not having said many positive things about ADN since they removed their Low Price Guarantee, I guess I found something nice again to tell.

Yesterday I received an order from ADN mostly containing titles not available at FiveStar, and I was surprised to see that they changed their packaging.

Rather than putting the DVDs loosely into the covers and then into some plastic bags - which made the DVDs become slightly scratchy until I held them in my hands - they now put the DVDs in paper-sleeves. So the DVDs of this order appeared to be in a slightly better condition. Another plus might be that only the DVDs backside could be seen through those plastic windows in the paper sleeves, thus being a lot less suspicious. Don't know though if customs were impressed by that since the covers are also included, and after opening a package and seeing a few porn-covers, I'd certainly take a look at the 'supposed-to-be-cdroms'.
Nevertheless a good idea though, so at least the DVDs arrive in a better condition, and at least you have SOME kind of cover before you can get some jewel cases or amarays.

btw: anybody knows a good place for ordering cheap amarays in Germany ? I know there are some places out there in the US, but when ordering about 50 amarays or more, the shipping costs will make the whole order extremely expensive again. And does anybody know about different Amaray-sizes ? I think I've seen different sized amarays and it seems that not every cover fits every amaray-box. Any experiences with that ?

Thanks,

Spesedy

Putting the DVDs in sleeves is definitely a good move. Although the discs are normally quite durable it's still possible to get a scratch or two when they're loose in the package.

For amarays you might like to try www.transco.co.uk, they have amarays for 38p each and international shipping is about £17. If you order 50 cases it'll work out at about 72p per case.

spesedy: With a lot of orders from ADN also, I've had a similar problem. I got a box of 50 through a friend of mine in an Electrical shop, but that is unlikely to be repeated and I still ahve 30 or so with out DVD cases.

That's why I a giving MovieTyme a try. On their site, look under the Accessories section and they have Amarays, Alphas, etc., singles and doubles for ~60p+ each and postage according to the page is about £1.00 to £1.50 per shipment...

My order is being sent with a copy of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, so it may take a week or two yet. Will let you know then if they are as good as their word!

spesedy: This is a portion from the confirmation e-mail they sent me from my order :

======================================================

Qty Name SKU Price Sub Total
----------------------------------------------------
1 Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Region 3) $29.95
(free shipping to Europe) £19.99 £19.99
30 Accura DVD Case
(shipping only $1.50 (£1) per order) £0.60 £18.00
----------------------------------------------------
- Sub Total £37.99
Shipping: FREE To Europe if stated next to title only!
£0.00
- Grand Total £37.99

======================================================

As you can see, that's what has been presented on the order. I won't know for definite until my Credit Card bill comes in later this month. IF THE ORDER HAS BEEN SHIPPED, THEN!!!

The URL for the page is : http://www.movietyme.com/accessoriespages/accessoriesindex.shtml
If you look below each case type, it states the informationabout the price per shipment. AND, the price is listed as Sterling, so I gather from that that they mean that the price is per shipment, wherever the destination. If it is, then that is good news for those of us in Europe. Hope this helps!

Will let you know, when I know more.

Movietyme are having problems at the moment (if you have CTHD ordered you will know all about it). They say they have Amaray cases but I was waiting since November for my order before I cancelled.

I am not too worried, timewise, about my order. Actually, the longer it's kept off being charged to my Credit Card, the better. I can live with the delay, provided it's not months. The "Crouch Tiger..." on the order is for my cousin, where as the cases are for me, so when I detect that people who recently ordered CTHD are starting to receive theirs and I am not, then I would start to worry/become annoyed.

Until then, relax, watch a (porn) DVD, chill out...... whatever!!
