Anyway, I put one in and was surprised at how lousy it was. It was one of the Dirty Debutantes volumes from two or three years ago. It was as bad technically as a mediocre pro-am production from 10 years ago. It's a wonder this guy has managed to stay in the business this long without improving.

1) Ed probably lost interest in any pretense to shooting good porn years ago. Anyway, I think Ed's films were pretty revolutionary at their time. I think a lot of filmmakers are basically using his formula, but using it a lot better than he did. I think he also did well because he believed in volume, volume, volume. Ed seemed to have a new film out like every week. I suppose some could argue that his films looked lazy and uninspired, but no one was putting out films as fast as he was. A lot of directors lyingly claim to have certain female performers first, but more often than not, Ed really did seem to get them first. To me, that was his true claim to fame. I myself could care less who fucked who first, so I usually avoided his films on that basic alone. That, plus I just didn't like his films that much.

Ed must have made like hundreds upon hundreds of films with him as the basic star, which tends to make me think someone liked his films or at least couldn't stop buying them.

Most of his titles were priced between $12.00 & $18.00. Its not uncommon to find 6 month old titles from RLD and others priced between $6.00 & $10.00 there.

He may be irrelevant and his stuff poorly shot, but the prices of his tittles are amazingly high.

When Ed finished More Dirty Debutantes 200 or so, the quality of his work was surpassed by other fare. It seemed like his enthusiasm waned about the same time and it showed. I rarely rent one anymore but there is a nugget or two in the later versions. Lela Star has done only 1 anal scene AFAIK and it's in MDD #347, the last one I bothered to get. Kitty, the tiny-breated Asian gal, did her only anal scene in MDD 290 but Ed wasn't the guy she did it with--Ed did film other guys like Jay Ashley on occasion.
