I'm looking at buying a title from them and wondering if anyone has had any experiences with them, good or bad.

I use them a bit. A wide selection of titles (they are one of the few places I've been able to find Tino Media, for example) and middle-range prices (very good for Viv Thomas but titles for other Euro studios can usually be found cheaper elsewhere). Not the fastest service though. They have averaged about 10 days between order and delivery to me in the UK which is poor when compared with, say, Orgazmik but on a par with Erodvd. But no real problems.
I use them from time to time, as John said they do have a good range and you can find stuff not always readily available elsewhere. They do have a habit of sending out mailouts (not emails actual mini catalogues) which can be annoying if you aren't expecting them but just email them and they'll take you off their mailing list if you don't want them. They always keep you informed if something goes out of stock too.
Can anyone in the u.k confirm wether these guys are definately u.k dispatched now as the last time i ordered from them(fair while ago now) i had 3 discs confiscated by customs...many thanks for any help.
Probably because they come in by boat, rather than by plane. Vidshop are based in the Netherlands but they use airmail. They don't ship via boat and I've never had anything confiscated. I also had a DVD confiscated by customs (around 4 years ago) from a company based in the Netherlands. It was obvious that they had sent it by boat and not plane.
It does not matter whether you send mail to the UK by air or surface (which goes by train mostly, not by boat) for the chance of customs to check it. Jacco
I dunno, Jacco. I must have ordered nearly 100 titles from Vidshop and I've never had customs confiscate any of them. Just a few days ago, I received one of John Thompson's Sexbox titles and it arrived without any problems. The very first time I used that other company, customs got it. Now, that seems too convenient to just be a coincidence....Mind you, that was back in August 2003, so maybe things have changed since then....
Ryan, we have shipped quite a bit more than 100 DVD's, Video's, CD's, toys, magazines, etc over the years, some from within the UK, some from over here. One thing that customs do (sometimes) pay attention to is the sender, if you get a package from a known address of a porn company, chances are a lot higher that customs will open it. And lately, customs are not very interested in porn anymore, they are looking for terrorists. Jacco
Everything I have ordered from them is sent from within the UK. Whether they have a business address in the UK which then send them out I don't know but I have never had problems with Customs no matter who Ive ordered from. That includes items from companies based in Amsterdam, Germany and the USA.
That's reassuring to know, Jacco, lol, if it's true, of course. Anyway, the company I've ordered three JT titles from are based in Lochau, Austria, so I hope that customs will ignore them when they reach the UK. Let's hope they keep their search up for terrorists!
Simplyporndvd is reliable. In a few cases, the titles I ordered were not in stock, but they had good customer service. Two problems for me: high prices and sometimes the DVD are not new (some of their stock comes from physical stores).
Just received another shipment from simply. Very quick delivery, i think they dispatched the same day with good communication. They also shipped with no case or covers (on request) which saves me having to go to the post office to pick it up :)
