My pharm (new drugs released post-2008) is bad and I've never head of Priligy/Dapoxetine.
From what I saw on the net, it's in the SSRI family (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors), which primary indication/use is for depression. It's probably being tested for PE because one of the noted side effects of a lot of SSRIs is sexual dysfunction.
I was on Paxil (a SSRI) a while ago (for depression) and I noticed it caused me to last a lot longer and actually had to really focus in order to climax (my favorite position, maximal stimuation). I could tell cause when I stopped/started, it reverted back. This sexual inhibition side effect has been observed to be dose dependent in many patients.
This phenomenon of exploiting a prevalent side effect in a drug to market/get-approval for another indication is common in medicine. Viagra was originally intended and use to treat high blood pressure, but was remarketed after they noticed it caused penile vasodilation. There's also a phenomenon called off-label use/prescribing, where a doctor prescribes a drug to treat something that wasn't intended, many times exploiting a side effect (e.g., trazodone ---> insomnia, even though it's an anti-depressant). Sorry for the tangent.
Even though it makes sense, the EU does a lot of experimental drug/device that take a while to get going in the US due to their different philosophy and laxed regulatory environment. Although I can easily see clinical trials for Dapoxetine start up here in the US to investigate PE, just be aware doctors and patients do a lot of things that are sometimes ahead of the pharm industry here in the US, at the expense of safety and efficacy.
My advice is that you talk to you doctor about your problems. Rule out any possible psychological factors/causes and then after exhausting dietary, medication (side effects), treatment of any contributing diseases (e.g., diabetes), behavioral, and psychological factors, discuss with your doctor if low dose off-label SSRI regiments is a viable treatment of PE (i.e., do others in the community do this?)
I'm by no means advocating that you take a SSRI for PE and you shouldn't do anything without your physicians assistance. Just be aware that SSRIs have some nasty side effects and work by altering your neurochemistry. Avoiding any further meds is ideal. [Link] |

Kenobi i really didnt expect such a mannered response. thank you very much. Like you've mentioned i read lots of scientific articles related to SSRI s, and believe me i read lots of articles related to PE (also read lots of PE forums). The thing I've asked about Priligy is because its said to have A LOT LOWER side effects than any other SSRIs because dapoxetine doesnt stay in your body for long. And no i dont have any intention to use it WITHOUT CONSULTING TO A DOCTOR, I just wanted to hear stories of real life people if there any one using it on their daily sex life.[Link] |

Have tried it. Do yourself a favor and buy generic because it's like $40 a tablet if you buy the name brand... the generic cost me about $3.50 a pill. Don't expect to suddenly turn in porn star like performances lasting like your sex scene has been edited to where you ejaculate after changing positions 7 times. If you normally last about 20 minutes, it'll maybe stretch your session into 30 minutes. Not sure exactly, I didn't have her time me with a stopwatch. And yes, it's like any SSRI anti-depressant (which it is as well), although like many SSRI's, supposedly the side effects are relatively insignificant.
It won't be a revolution like Viagra and Cialis were in terms of X billion $ when it finally gets US FDA approval, but it'll certainly one day be a X hundred million dollar seller for the market. As I recall, it's going to be Johnson and Johnson that will try to market it under license from Janssen Cilag Pharma. Mostly because the results aren't crystal clear like a solid erection where there wasn't one before so guys probably won't rush out and buy it. An alternative for US consumers is Prozac (fluoxetine), which has similar effects. Although comparatively speaking (again, I've used both), Priligy (or generic Dapoxetine 60 mg) probably is better suited for prolonging intercourse because it's 'lighter' than Prozac.... which is relatively harmless as well....edit: it might have a niche market in the amateur porn market, especially for scenes where an amateur guy has to work with a pro porn starlet and doesn't want to have a "1 minute" scene. There's only so much editing can do for you, LOL.

For most people there probably isn't any harm in trying the SSRIs for PE under the supervision of a physician but if you have a history of Bipolar I Disorder (also called Manic Depression in the EU) this could send you into a manic episode with disastrous results.[Link] |
