Usable capacity, because of formating and the onboard anti-virus and other software, won't be as high with two 1 GB drives.

Flash drives are quickly becoming disposable. How much is a 2GB drive now? 2GB<$50? 4GB<$90

The features you may want to look for:
-security (password protected, fingerprint scanner)
-ability to run software off the key (there's a buzz word for this but I can't remember what it is)

I'm sure brand name is important but I remember one of the bigger names just had a recall because their USB Flash Drive would overheat. (again, I can't remember which or where I saw this news)

If it's of any interest, if you live near a [invalid URL removed]Micro center, they have a 1GB generic (their brand) on sale for $15.99...

Not too bad if you are not putting your life on it and it's not a big deal if it dies. Provided I can find the cash, I think I'm going to get one.

However to add some of my own insight, I have yet had a Flash Drive fail on me. I have had several different brands, but then again I don't use them like a hard drive, rather like temp storage.

you store the application and data on a USB key and just use the computer for the processing power. No trace of your information is left on the machine.

There's a term for this but I didn't see it on the USB that Leyden provided.

I should add. I would never trust a USB Key as secure, safe or permanent. They're just too easy to lose.
