Seems to me that there are more webcam sites popping up as new porn releases are slowing down and it makes me wonder if webcam sex is having any impact on the porn industry?? If I was a hot chick and had the looks and personality, I would rather do it in the comfort of my home with no bosses, less disease risks and at any time I choose to work. Can anyone confirm my suspicions??
Cam sites are so expensive that very few people can afford to partake of them on a regular basis without going bankrupt so there's no way that they could seriously affect the porn industry. The only thing that cam sites seem to do is attract more and more porn girls to them but I think that's because it's a pretty harmless way for girls to make extra cash and they don't need to spend a lot of money on the technology to make that happen.
Agree that they are more expensive than just buying a video and wanking...how many pops do you get from one hot video?? My observations are from the perspective of my GF doing cam modeling and seeing all the competition cumming on line now. ^I can see the appeal of cam sites for some people because you aren't just watching but actually interacting with the model. The biggest downside of the webcam genre is that it is limited in what you you see or do. A girl invariably sitting in a small room on the bed or floor, with a computer/camera 3 feet away...all you will see is her face or tits or pussy or ass (only one at a time). So if you are into legs or feet or stockings or high heels or whatever, you are out of luck; it is impossible/impractical to cover these fetishes with a webcam setup, you'd need a bigger room and probably a live cameraperson to operate the camera and get the right perspectives and angles.
^Which would probably destroy the illusion that it's just you and the cam girl. Not to mention that having an extra camera person cost money and cam sites are into making it and not into paying it. There`s also the fact that cam cameras probably don`t offer very high resolution so picture quality is going to be average at best.
^I don't care so much about the illusion; I have seen plenty of well-made solo scenes which use a cameraman. If the girl performs in truly solo mode, or interacts directly with the viewer, then it is perfectly OK, and the non-stationary camera is not a distraction. It becomes a problem only when the cameraman interacts with the girl by talking to her or by reaching into the frame to touch her or other POV behavior.

I think the porn producers are focusing on content that cannot be pirated..You cannot pirate a model's interaction with a paying customer. Brazzers live, kink live and many others.. many models only consider making porn videos a supplement to their other business(escorting, dancing, GFE, private webcam and skype shows )
^The Live feeds can't be stolen but these shows are are available for download so you can in fact steal live shows but it will be the edited version. I know that I normally download the Brazzer live shows because I prefer to skip through the parts that I don't care about.
Webcam sites ARE part of the porn industry. I would imagine they are fairly profitable, and they provide an additional source of revenue for the performers.
