I was just at dv-depot.com, and they have a forum page. There are a few posts regarding something called dvd "rot". It is when the disc was not properly sealed during the manufacturing process and starts to rot (it is detected by a coffee like stain on the disc).
At first I didn't think anything of it, but one of the posters said that two of his discs (Pulp Fiction, and another disc) had these stains on them and now they will not play. He said he bought them in 1998, and played fine, but eventually the rot penetrated the disc enough that it will now not play.
I have a few discs that have these satins on them (most of them are adult discs) and seeing how the majority of adult companies tend to cut corners wherever they can, I'm starting to worry that in a couple of years that I may have 10 or so discs that will not play. Has anybody else heard of dvd rot, and if so what kind of info do you have on it. I'm curious and a little bit worried.
