Save the "acting" for the category for which it was designed: Best Actress Film and/or Video. That's what it's there for. While a lot of past FPOTY winners have done a little, tiny, miniscule bit of acting here and there or a few movies where they had a couple lines in a vignette, the list of former FPOTY winners is littered with some of the most intense, primarily gonzo performers we've ever witnessed...Sasha Grey, Hillary Scott, Audrey Hollander, Ashley Blue and Aurora Snow. And looking up there at those girls (and I hate to say it because I wouldn't have Gianna change a single thing) I get the feeling that if Gianna exanded her repertoire just a little and most importantly, did anal, she'd probably become a stronger and more viable candidate. Let me guess...you're going to trot out AVN's line of "a cross section of retailers send them in" right? So from a cross section of retailers who don't report anything beyond rank, you can extrapolate a TOP 250 titles EVERY MONTH. And if "a cross section of retailers" were already sending in numbers to Paul & co., then why about 2 years ago did AVN put out a solicitation for retailers to send in their numbers. Weren't they already getting those charts sent to them at AVN? And to pull 250 titles every month, at a bare minimum you'd have to have 25 stores reporting a top 10 and that's if every store's chart contained 10 distinct titles that didn't appear on any other store's chart. So they would have had to have been getting at least 20 store charts sent to them. Or were they just cherry picking the store's they (and you know who I mean by THEY) had a financial interest in? And if a store said that Cezar Capone's title was their #1 renter but for that store 5 rentals equal #1, and some other store's #1 renter got 20 rentals...how does AVN account for that in their formula? Oh and I almost forgot the other 335 titles that don't qualify for the Top 250 because they are Ethnic, Pro Am, Milf, Specialty, Interactive, etc. So each month they are charting almost 600 titles. Well, I can tell you this much, VERY few stores even have the desire or capability to report their top 10 titles, much less 600. You don't have to be a statistician to figure this is a bunch of BS...all you gotta know is basic freaking math. The fact that they continue to perpetuate a "payola" chart makes me question the credibility of said magazine. Add to the fact that the magazine is NOTHING but FLUFF pieces, ads and reposted PR (with the exception of Kernes and Nelson X) and yeah...I think their credibility is shit and I think everyone knows it. The only people who deny it are those who stand to gain by perpetuating the myth. Oh and those stores that actually do send in their sales charts to AVN would surely like to take notice that when AVN posts them on their website...they include a link beside each title to BUY, RENT or VOD that title from one of AVN's affiliate partners. Cha Ching for AVN, zilch for the store. No link to the store's website is included. Thanks Paul! And don't even get me started on how their AVNADS program for the longest time sold ad space on torrent sites until they were forced to remove those. Plus I'm still waiting for AVN (since they are such credible journalists) to cover the fact that companies within adult like Penthouse, Brazzers, and Bang subsidize piracy by paying for ad space on tube and torrent sites via their Adult Friend Finder, Fling.com and Brazzers Network subsidiaries. You'd think a journalist might like a story with some teeth to it, but not AVN...nothing but fluff baby. Do I question the legitimacy and credibility of Paul and AVN...you damn right. I won't even begin to defend him, except to say that the awards are not bought, that is the case for sure. Which was my point to begin with. vivid itself, won 2 awards that year, forget Cj and Tera. That should tell you something. Vivid advertises more than anyone for at least the last 15 years. According to you that is how you get awards, it doesn't make sense that they only won 2 awards or even 5 awards including CJ and Tera. Even if it was Wickeds year, you would think that they would spread them around evenly among their big advertisers, that wasn't the case. BTW, that was not the only year that happened. [Link] |
