| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | Posted - Jun 21 2015 : 7:48PM The DMCA, or more specifically the Safe Harbor provision of it, state that as long as the site properly responds to takedown notices, they aren't liable for what their users upload to the site. And if a company were to try to take a tube site to court, it would basically end up the same way as Viacom vs. YouTube did, unless they could prove somehow that it wasn't users but the site themselves uploading the content (which has been rumored, but never actually proven). The companies whose content you don't usually see on tube sites are just the companies that are really, really aggressive with their takedown notices. And even then it's not that the content isn't there, it's just that it's uploaded in a way that it isn't easy to find by search. [Link] |
