Has anyone out there got any comments on how they’ve seen people behave around extremely attractive people? I’ve spent some time with (ok, near) a lady who wouldn’t be out of place in a Miss Universe pageant and couldn’t get over how many guys quickly and completely turned into fawning, drooling idiots around her. The pathetic jokes! The jaw breaking smiles, no matter what they were talking about. The pitiful excuses to spend time with or near her! And these are all guys who have no chance! I’ve known them for a while and up until now they’ve always seemed like normal, intelligent people.

Women are generally a lot more capable of staying in control, and while their attraction might be pretty obvious they’re usually infinitely more subtle than the guys.

Am I wrong? Can most guys restrain themselves? How many of you know people whose good looks really affect the way people behave around them? You could even be someone like that, but if you were would you necessarily know it?

Never underestimate the power of encouragement.

...fawning, drooling idiots...

Yes, you're right. I don't understand why though. Behaving like everybody else towards the beauty queen surely won't increase the little chance one has from the beginning. When I meet a woman who is so beatiful that she could be a model I always treat her neutrally like anyone else and if she's got a friend who is not so pretty I always treat that friend extremely well, but that's sheer tactics behind the cool mask I'm just a horny like the fawning drooling idiots.

I see it happen all the time in the gay world as well. Oddly enough, I never figured I'd ever have a chance with any of the beautiful people guys (the major insecurities of an INFP here: I'm neither tall, dark, nor handsome - in fact, I'm average in height & looks, some 30 pounds overweight, and a non-athletic geek).

I can't claim any record on keeping any of them around on a permanent (or even semi-permanent) basis, but I've had as significant others some of the most handsome and athletic men in existence, including one major league professional athlete and one cover model/actor.

I'm convinced that the only reason it happened in those and in several other cases is that I didn't fall all over myself fawning over them and they couldn't understand why. My lack of attention caught their attention.

My GF is one of those beautiful people, she even was a beauty queen as a child and teenager. I have watched her and peoples reactions to her for years.

Men just loose their composure and seem to get a "must have her" thing going on. They buy her things, compliment her, take her crap, do just about anything so long as she allows herself to be seen with them or there is any hope however dim they may get down her pants. And you know how she reacts? She laughs and flirts and quickly get's bored. She is much more interested in men that find her interesting than find her beautiful. She is aware of when men are only interested in her becasue she's beautiful and it almost seems to hurt her in a way.

It's really an odd thing. Most of the rest of the world works towards and wishes to be beautiful in the way she is and for her it's a bit of a curse.

She’s so beautiful it’s a curse? Very sad, lunacy. So sad. Here’s hoping some wrinkles turn up soon.

Ok, ok. I’ll try to lose the sarcasm. I guess that continually meeting people who seem ok but turn out to be shallow and fake would get annoying and disappointing. I knew one guy whose wife used to do some modelling and that was all he would ever say about her. On and on and on, it seemed to be the only good thing he had to cling on to in his whole life. It was like he’d married a photo layout or something, and he quickly became unbearable to put up with. We never met her, but we got the pics thrown in our faces about a million times. They divorced after a few years, what a shock.

At least you’d think that beauties would hopefully get good at detecting jerks with all the practice, although if you look at some of the guys they wind up going for I guess it’s not always the case. It’s pretty sad that so many people go for losers who dump them as soon as their looks fade a little. With average couples appearances aren’t necessarily such a big factor in why they stay together. I’d think that one of the worst things about having great looks would be all the worrying about losing them. ‘Cause then all you’ve got left is your personality, what a nightmare that would be.

Actually I tend to try to treat them the same as everyone else. Though I know what you mean. It has always amazed me to watch a guy go up to the boyfriend/husband of an extremely beautiful woman and tell him he is the luckiest man in the world with no knowledge of the woman other than her looks. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but some of the most beautiful women I know are not that much fun to be around and living with them would probably be grounds for homicide.

Beautiful women-

I have friends, one in particular who turns into a idiot everytime he sees this girl at a local club, she's a singer and is usually there every wednesday. Well, he could have numerous girls around him at the bar, and he'll start drooling over Allison Collins.

She's a beautiful woman, but there is no woman on the face of this planet that could make me lose my composure. One might get a glance but that would be it.

I have an unusual lucky streak with women. They pick me up. I generally don't go after women. Even my Ex picked me up. The woman I'm dating now picked me up by winking at me. I'm no don juan, I don't have a big head or anything, I feel like I'm just lucky. I think I'm good looking, but that's as far as it goes.

I feel sorry for the guys that do act that way because they look like idiots. Some women love that though.
