| jayo All-Star Member 2117 Posts 7/04 | I have to replace my cell and I'm looking at getting a Smartphone. Unfortunately, the signal to noise ratio on the internet about various plans and usage is very low. Plus, I'm in the minority in what I want to do. So advice or direction would help tremendously from people who aren't trying to sell me services... I use my cell to make occasional phone calls. If I get a smartphone, I'd want to use it either for things I can do to entertain myself when I'm sitting in a waiting room or in traffic, like a Sudoku game, or taking notes. Occasionally surfing the net for maps or info. I do *not* see myself significantly texting, sending photos, using Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and all that crap. 1. Can anyone suggest a good smartphone/plan for that kind of thing? 2. How much data does a phone chew through in a month? Is there a way to estimate whether a given data plan would be adequate, overkill, or ridiculously tiny, for my needs? [Link] |

I believe with the way I work, the Lite or Ready plan would be fine. Mostly I'm fretting that I'll be using "data" time or minutes while I'm doing things like playing a single-person game or reading an eBook, which would be what I'd do most of the time. |
