Meh, nothing new that I hadn't heard before in that article there. Just a reminder that, while most people (on Twitter, etc.) express their sympathy for black male performers in the porn industry, it's actually black female performers who have it the worst.

^ "Have it the worst" It's not a competition to point who is most adversely affected by racial discrimination The point of the article is that racial discrimination is rife in the industry as there is a disparity in earnings potential and career opportunities based on the colour of one's skin and privileges that are often afforded only to white performers.

Maybe you read a difficult article but that article did point out that black women often get a shitty deal in the industry as they can't earn extra by having sex with white male performers for example because it's not regarded as IR in the industry. Likewise, the article pointed out Misty Stone earned significantly less starting out than her white female counterparts at the time though I hope she was talking about earnings for the same levels as neither she nor Aurora Snow clarified that in the article.

Nothing that hasn't been said before. The thing that bothers me is nothing been said about the way Some Black Females come into the industry and won't work with Black males. And there's some Black Males who don't work with Black Females.

So? We need to keep hearing it until enough fans speak up that it has to change.

First of all, I think it's clear that black performers both male and female are treated wrongly by the porn industry in general. The systemic racism is clear, as it is in other parts of society. Yes it's not new, but we should keep talking about it in an attempt to create change.

But when it comes to pay for black females specifically, is it all about racism or is some of it just cold business? What I mean is, does the average black girl scene sell as much as the average white girl scene? If it is about the same, then yes, they should obviously be paid the same. But if white girls are, in general, selling more than black girls, then you're asking the producer to pay the same amount but for lesser results. I guess it's a business ethics issue that I don't really have the answer to.

But, is it really racism per se, or just what sells the most? I'm sure the number crunching guys at corporate have detailed spreadsheets on who and what sell best for them and they act accordingly. It's the porn "industry" with "business" models, not the porn"charity" with "friendship" models. Does it suck for black performers? most likely, but the solution of "just pay everyone the same" is not a viable long term strategy. The only solution possibly would be to book them for more "filler" scenes, I don't know. But with the current social/cancel climate, i doubt anyone will go on the r3cord about this issue.

Producers and studios sure as shit aren't going to pay black women more to perform with white men so how about they stop paying white women more to perform with black men? That seems like a perfectly good place to start. And with those IR rate savings, those cheap bastards can hire more black women! I think I solved this shit.

Easy. Take away the "First" premiums for I/R and any other upcharges to shoot for some of the niche I/R companies and you've just eliminated a lot of scenes being shot and a few companies that specialize in said material will probably stop shooting scenes. It doesn't mean more black girls being hired.

Seeing a white girl say, "Stick that big black cock into my tight white pussy" is going to sell a lot more than one of the few black girls in porn saying,

"Stick that medium sized white cock into my tight black pussy"

The ugly truth that no one wants to acknowledge is that consumers drive trends. Most porn studios cannot afford to take risks and will allow statistics to dictate what they shoot. That's the core of the problem, and while that revelation does not absolve the industry by any means, it's never going to get better until consumers drive the change with their wallets.

^It's not an ugly truth as you say, but just the basics of business overall. People buy what they want, and the minute the seller tries to tell them otherwise, they'll vote with their feet first. If I go into a store for a fountain drink pepsi and the pepsi is out, I'll leave. Maybe I'll get a root beer if I'm in the mood, but if they try to jam a Coke down my throat, I'll never go back again.

With porn it's all about the appeal of the women, then what guy they're in a scene with. The performer quoted in that article has been around awhile and has never appealed to me beyond an initial look see. Nothing against her personally, but I'd never pick up a scene for her unless she was in a scene with someone I actually wanted to see.

I don't expect more black female performers to be hired. That was just sarcasm and wishful thinking. Look at everything that's come out during the last few weeks. Articles about racism in porn, accusations of abuse and assault and rape. Combined with the rise of OnlyFans and other platforms could mean that business as usual in the porn industry may be coming to an end. And that's a good thing. Racism shouldn't be incentivized.

I think some people are dodging one of the biggest problems in this subject. First, we need to understand the customers. I think some customers want to see ATTRACTIVE black women in porn. Anya Ivy, Nia Naccia, and Jezabel Vessir are three of the most beautiful women in porn. I am African American, and I think the world has beautiful black women. Most of them do not do porn.

People should be hired based on their talent and good looks in the porn industry. The porn industry should not start politically correct casting like Brazzers has in the past year. Politically correct casting will lead to very bad casting and complaints. Look at Brazzers when they started filming BBW content. Their staff deleted complaints, eventually removed comments, and edited down votes.

Customers want to watch attractive women at the end of the day.

^Good lucks are subjective and your talent argument doesn't necessarily hold a whole lot of water. I'm not trying to bad mouth anyone in the industry past or present but there have been plenty of big stars that were pretty damn vanilla and nothing special at all while extremely talented performers have gone unrecognized.

Of course good looks are subjective. There are universal standards of beauty. Not every guy is attracted to Nicki Minaj. However, most men are attracted to Nicki Minaj because of her face and body fit the universal standards of beauty.

As I said, there are many beautiful black women who fit the universal standards of beauty. Yet, most of those black women do not do porn. Most people purchase porn because they want to see the sexiest women by stereotypical standards. That is why pornstars like Nikki Benz are very popular. They have pretty faces, slim bodies, and big tits.

^ Don't you think you're contradicting yourself in that statement? Universal means covering everybody in a group without exception. The fact that you state not all men find Nicki Minaj attractive indicates an exception therefore the standards of beauty are not universal. A consensus or majority view doesn't equate to a universal view.

I am not contradicting myself. Let's be real. Society has standards of beauty. The majority of guys find particular physical features attractive.

Not every person in society is going to agree that a particular person is attractive. Life never works that way. The reality is there are physical features that the majority of men find attractive. A majority does equal a universal point of view. It is widely accepted.

Keep telling yourself a majority makes something universal. A majority doesn't render the contrary minority view as irrelevant. A minority might be ineffective but it remains an exception.

What's the point here? Just switch the word "universal" to "nearly universal" and all of both your points still stand, and you can carry on.

I was able to read the Rolling Stone article and I realize the theme of the article is the same ol' gripe about the systemic racism rampant in the industry. I have to admit that as a black man and a new customer to what the industry has to offer, I concur with Isiah Maxwell alluded to in his comments...

"Porn has always been a reflection of American values, so if these are the titles you see, these are the titles people are buying" [\i] and he continues "Porn is such a murky water to be a social activist it's hard for them to take you seriously"

Porn is a like any other business; the consumer taste drives the direction it's headed. This is easily quantified by widely available tools (let's not forget that porn is almost always an early adopter of many technological advancements including advance marketing analytics). If their feedback indicates that their "typical" consumer demographics skewed towards older white males, with a certain fetish for a young hot white female having sex with an older white guy (at least one whom the guy fapping to the scene can live vicariously through), then that's the direction the production dollars will be geared to. Is it ethical? Probably not but this is a cut throat industry with a few successful companies and lots of barely surviving laggards.

The one thing that wasn't mentioned in the article but I wish was addressed was how black females & males performers would gladly do IR work & refuse to shoot with a performer of their own ethnicity. I can contextualize the males (to a limit but let's be honest, very few males would say no) since IR pays them more but what about the ladies? Since the pay rate for both IR & black/black scenes pay equally, aren't they leaving money on the table? The same way Ana Foxx does anal and other extras Demi Sutra doesn't, the former would be booked more than the latter. Are they holding out because a white female makes more to work with a black male or is it some form of internalized self hate? This tends to be the more marquee females who would rather shoot a scene with a middle age white male but balk at the prospect of a fellow melanated male. I don't claim to have the answers but I wish someone would offer an educated explanation so that I could make sense of this strange phenomena.

I wish we lived in a just and orderly world but reality is we don't. In my case, majority of my friends who watch adult content are into the millennial generation social media type content and rarely dabble in studio porn. Follow the money and it'll lead you to a middle man in a basement, with multiple memberships to various sites and constant on various adult industry boards akin to this one. Unless they fancy ebony women, they'll keep on watching their bread & butter scenes as they've done for ages.

^ Do black men actually earn more for working with white women compared to working with black women when all else is equal? I thought the pay "bonus" was only with the woman in BMWF scenes but I could be wrong.

^I'd imagine that to be correct. I'm sure the budget on a black on black release is probably half what a IR release is, and as such, the rates paid to talent is less. Still, for a guy, $300 for a day when you didn't have anything else lined up is still gravy.

The problem is some of us most not attracted to anyone non-white sexually. It's not racism. I live in USA now, but from Germany. I know about racism, and porn not racists.

I want to get off to white people. Sorry. I not racist. I don't not like black people. They are fine, just not like sexually.

I much disappointed when my porn love Jia Lissa did scenes with black man. I could not watch.

My American friend say porn try to hard to make people watch black people. Sorry. I don't like for sex.

Hopefully Jia not do more sex with black man or woman.

^^^ Your post comes out with all sorts of crap.

To say black people are not sexually attractive on the grounds of race is racist no matter how much you decree to the contrary. The fundamentals of racism are creating a hierarchy of perceived superiority or worthiness based on perceived attributes of certain races.

I think it's quite curious that you occupy so much of your time being so sensitive about the colour of the skin of people Jia has had sex. Why is it so difficult to focus on the scenes where Jia only works with those whose skin colour meets your approval? I don't like everything available to me in porn but I don't give much time or thought to that which I don't like as there is precious little time to focus on it.

Your distaste for black people in porn is patently irrelevant to the discussion here nor does it discredit the author or anyone who gave their accounts of the discrimination they've faced. That you don't want to see black people in porn doesn't mean black people are unworthy of equal pay in the industry. Being averse to black people in porn gives no credence to any argument they shouldn't be on per-scene wage parity with a white performer when all else is equal. If there is porn with someone whose skin colour is too dark on the colour scale for you, you are welcome not to buy it.

I'm genuinely at a loss to try and explain how fatuous your rationale comes across. Your wish not to see a certain demographic doesn't have to curtail the rights or opportunities of that demographic. It's like a staunch Marvel fan goes to ComiCon and expresses disappointment that there are people dressed up as DC characters then hopes that at future ComiCon events, there is nobody else dressed as DC heroes or villains. Unbridled absurdity.

The claims that this is just a reflection of 'what the market wants' we know are nonsense. At various times we've seen the business-as-usual of the porn industry justified as somehow a pure expression of the market or the porn audience.

Yet when someone actually did something different, whether it was Andrew Blake, or William H/Mason, Blacked, more naturalistic g/g videos, trans porn, etc. we suddenly saw there was an audience, often a significant audience, for these kinds of porn the industry had insisted either didn't exist or was too niche to be of notice.

^

Very few companies want to be the ones putting up their money on the idea that "there's a big underserved market for this", so it takes someone wanting to come in and be a disruptor to show that the market exists, and then everyone will follow them into it.

And it's not like this isn't a thing in Hollywood (or, more to the point, entertainment in general), either. Which isn't to say it's not wrong, but that it's not just a porn problem, it's an entertainment industry problem.

^ Sure but we all know that often porn producers are creating stuff that they personally like or what makes it easiest for them in terms of production too.
